Folks that were hoping to show appreciation for Army veterans this Memorial Day by playing as Terran marines in the StarCraft II beta are in luck. The beta, which was originally slated to end on May 31, is being extended by one week.

In a recent update to their StarCraft II community website, Blizzard said that the beta is being extended to June 7 to “prepare for the final phase of the beta testing.” After that the team will buckle down and perfect its product ramping up to the game’s official July 27 release date.

Do you know if the internet requirement is just for online play, or are they going to pull an Ubisoft and require that your online just to install/play the game in singleplayer?

"An initial activation check-in is required, which we also have been mentioning since BlizzCon and even before that. The campaign and other solo aspects of the game are still playable offline after your initial activation."

I'll have to see if that'll work like how another program worked...

(aka, I install it on my pc, move directory to a external HDD, find a pc with internet, connect it, open program in external HDD, activate, re-copy folder back on main pc)

It's got pretty much the same protection system as Steam games: a one-off online check and then you flip it to offline mode to play. Seems reasonable (well, as reasonable as these things get these days).

My four-year-old single-core PC (with a new graphics card and 2GB memory upgrade) passes the minium requirements. Probably won't get the full experience, but I just want it to work.

. Absolutely stunning in the highest HD setting.

I'm torn on this.

On one hand, I want to get it.

On the other, I don't know, if the games only got 6 hours of campeign play, Its useless to me. I can beat that in one sitting. And I hate replaying them even on harder difficulties. If its in the 20-30 hour range, its better, but still short, 40-60, I'm in heaven.

Supposedly on normal difficulty it is around 17 hours. Add achievements/hard difficulty, another 8 hours.

Then there's MP and replays.

Can't MP here, unless a niehbor picks up SC2 (Doubtful), replays, I only do replays for alternate endings, and even then, barely. :P

inerestingly, the game itself runs just fine, but the cut sceans...  i cant watch any of the movies as all i see is black.  im hoping that i can install new drivers and make it work that way.  i do like how they pretty much dident mess with the grafics and left it still feeling like the original.
