Secondly, you're exaggerating and twisting my words and actions.

 

I'm mostly of the same opinion as Min.  Just scroll past Pete's posts, don't bother to read them, ignore him.  And talking to him only gives him a reason to respond with more crap anyway.

 

Plus it might be mildly satisfying to frustrate him by completely and totally ignoring him.  I'm happy to completely ignore Pete and his posts after this post, including not talking about him at all anymore.

 

However, I don't agree with Min that voting for Pete makes someone scum.  His spamming may actually be truly irritating or headache-inducing to some people.  I know some people who flip out at all-caps in a body of text, and simply can't stand it.  So it's definitely possible.

"MOSTLY" being the key word.  I was referring to her saying we should just ignore Pete--I don't want to sit here debating forever on whether or not to lynch him; people should just pick a decision at some point and go with it.  My decision is to ignore him.  If people want to vote for him, go ahead and do it, but we don't need to go on and on about Pete forever.

I didn't agree with her decision to vote for someone just for voting Pete, and I never said I did agree with her on that.

 

You then disagree with Min a little, but uderstand where she was coming from.

I also never did the "I understand where she was coming from" with Min; it was actually Seafolk I was mainly referring to.  I don't see how someone as intelligent as yourself could honestly miss that the whole "it's definitely possible" thing was opposing Min's reasoning for voting.

::) I didn't say, "everyone, DO THIS, YEAH!" I was stating my opinion on what should be done.  I really don't care what other people do, honestly, like I said above, I just want people to get on with it already.  This game is boring me more than anything else.

 

This is a textbook mafia move - anytime someone tries to buddy up with an inconsequential player/comment while pushing the group towards an action is a major warning bell.

Yeah, buddying up.  Just because Min summed up my opinion of the situation best means I'm buddying up to her.  I don't even know why I'm bothering to argue, because time and time again people pick on things that are "textbook mafia moves" that I do, and they're always wrong.

 

Pete is obviously under a PR - what it's for and who it benefits is up in the air, and it's way to early to tell. I don't mind making fun of it, but I've been waiting to see who might try to use it for their benefit.

If there's anything that I wanted to respond to, it was this though--obviously under a PR? Why "obviously?"  It wasn't obvious to me, and maybe I'm stupid, but I've accepted that fact and I don't care that I'm stupid.  How is it "obvious?"  Also, how, pray tell, do I benefit from ignoring him?  Not at all.

This is one of the reasons I hate playing games on OG; I don't think I'm emotionally mature enough to handle all the word-twisting and crap that goes on.  I get SO pissed off and frustrated.

Unless Pete is mafia.  If he is a jester or non mafia role then he will eventually be NK'd.  If he is not then he will be around later and we can lynch him eventually.  Im not sold that this isn't some elaborate gambit.  I've noticed that mafia masters are bored with just winning they want to win big and creatively.  90% of the games Ive played before coming here had Doggin/ Kivam in them.  He us to get frustrated because he never made it past a day or so.  This is for good reason.  When someone is that good at the game they became so dangerous at mafia that it upsets the balance of them being town.  In other words they are more of a threat as mafia its not worth it to keep them in the game in case they are mafia.  I know this is a form of metagaming but Im not talking about strategy or type of game play Im talking about their ability to take over a game as mafia and kicking the towns butt.

 

If Dragon is mafia then thats a bad thing because he's a very good player, but if say yourself or DPR where also mafia then the potential for them to pull off an amazing gambit is their.

 

I don't like DPR's vote on Meesh.  Not that he doesn;t make descent points but I would expect no less from Wes. Meesh's reaction could very well be an act but I don;t think so.  Now I don;t know the players that well but I watched her absolutely toast LedZepFan once and I know she's a very good player.  The type of player an experienced mafia team would like to lynch.  So I think for me I would like to [glow=red,2,300]vote DPR[/glow]  Partly because of what I typed, secondly because Im excited to play this game with him.  NBL

Now, for the record, I do draw the line at players getting upset in a game and I would consider it unfair to use a ploy like that as a gambit. So, if Meesh is really upset, then we need to remind everybody that it is just a game. I know I also told her that it was an effective tactic, if that's how she's using it, but I personally don't like to bring pique into a game. Other things that I don't personally prefer are feigning sick, or making up a tragic event to cover a faulty post or an absence. Believe me, tragedies do happen and it's important for everyone to be able to offer support in those cases without thinking that they are being played.

 

I'm sure that Nae is sorting this out. Also, if Meesh is upset, but still wants to play, I am all for a pass on the modkill rule for editing a post.

 

But then we are going to have to get serious about playing. There have been far too few arguments and it's time to bleed a little info form folks. heh

I will also add that I am watching the lurkers. These games will often go a few days with the mafia hanging back and letting the innocents tear each other apart before they even begin to play. I think we'll be needing to drag a few of them out into the light and see what they think of that. But that's after Meesh - because if she is using a tactic, then that's a mighty mafiaish thing to pull.

I think Meesh deserves a pass on the mod kill as well.  She was obviously upset and this is about having fun and enjoying the game.  Maybe Nae should allow Dragon to have Meesh's modkill, its Christmas and this is the season of giving.

Meesh, I'm sorry you are upset and frustrated...but Mafia is a game of word twisting by nature.  Do you really expect the mafia to come out and say they are mafia?  Do you expect other innocents to know that you are innocent?  There is really no other way to play this game other than to poke an prod.

 

 

Now..all that being said..I've witnessed your skill in mafia and I find it hard to believe you are really this upset.  You are veteran so, you know everything I've said above is true. 

 

I think the DPR-Meesh interaction is something we should all stay aware of here.

 

Also, I wouldn't put it past Pete to jump on the Jestor implication to save himself from being lynched.

For what it's worth -

 

A Post Restriction is a condition that the mod or another player can assign to you that you have to uphold or risk a modkill. I said that Pete obviously had one becuase of how he is playing. That's why I'm not all that hot to lynch him right now - I suspect he's innocent with a solo-win condition that if he get's lynched, he wins.

 

If Meesh is emo faking, that will add fuel to my argument and until I see another player ping my scumdar harder, my vote will stay on her.

 

And for those that are interested, a proper gambit is spread over the course of days and covers small subtle arguments that finally lead up to one player putting the FOS on the other, and letting everyone else lynch them. The art is in the subtlety - not a sudden flare up and a lynch lead.

Anyways.... If, at any time and for whatever reason, a person wants to opt out of a game, the proper way to handle it is to pm the mod your concerns and that you want to quit the game and then post a short message to the game so the other players know.  "Hey guys, I'm dealing with alot of rl stuff right now and can't handle this game like I thought.. I've asked the mod to let me quit the game.  Sorry for any inconveniences."

 

Blowing up in the game and purposefully breaking the rules or insulting the other players or the mod is not fair to the other players and can hurt feelings.  It also ruins the spirit of the game.  We all get upset in these games but we gotta remember... ITS JUST A GAME.  Outside of the game threads we are all friends who care about each other.  Inside is a slightly different story.  Brothers attack sisters, warders lynch their aes sedai, best friends nk each other...

 

I got so mad at DPR once that I think I had steam rolling out of my ears.  I let it affect me outside of the game.  Luckily I realised how stupid that was and now we laugh about it.

First of all, I want to apologize for my melodramatic actions.  Normally mafia games don't upset me this much, but I've been too stressed out in general, and playing more than one mafia game at a time is too much added stress.  So I let myself get carried away.  That's not okay, and I'm really really sorry.

 

I'm standing by my decision, though--I can't handle this and I'm leaving the game.  I should've chosen a much better way to deal with the situation, so again, I'm really sorry.  I'm sorry if I offended people; I wasn't trying to but I realize that's just the consequences I have to face.

 

I guess I should take it easy on mafia until I'm absolutely sure I can handle it all, from now on. >.<
