Isn't the first option dealt with in New Spring? I remember the short story version of it having Rand and Tam being listed last on her list.

I think it might be interesting to see Mat and Toun reclaim the now fallen Seachan empire.

To be clear, since this isn't an option, I want all of these provided there's enough from RJ to work with. Especially the prequels.

And the third prequel is about Moiraine and Lan actually coming to the Two Rivers. Covers what happens just before the series begins.

One of my main regrets is that RJ decided to rewrite New Spring.  I have read both versions of New Spring and the old version was just fine.

I wish RJ had spent the time, instead, on writing another story such as one about Tam's background.

I think that Tam's story should be very pleasent.... we know that Tam as supposed to be the Main character, since RJ idea as to create a slight older character with a clear destiny... only after he gave up the older guy idea and went to the young farm boy ^^

Edit: I completly Agree with RAW

I think both Tam's story and Mat and Tuon's would be interesting.

With Tam's story you have not only the Whitecloak War and becoming a blademaster, but also the Aiel War from a different perspective.

With Mat and Tuon, you get Mat kicking Seanchan butt like he did in KoD. I doubt the Band would go with him but it should be interesting.

I hope a good writer can do both. Also, one on the Trolloc Wars would be great.

The short story version in Legends which begins with Moiraine in the Boarderlands and includes Tam and Keri al'Thor on the list of parents she needs to check out, and the novel version.

Yes Legends it was an anthology edited by Robert Silverberg in 1998. It featured stories from famous authors writing in their most established series. Authors like Stephen King (Dark Tower), Terry Goodkind (Sword of Truth), Anne McCaffrey (Pern), Raymond E. Feist (Riftwar), Terry Pratchett (Discworld), Orson Scott Card (Tales of Alvin Maker), Robert Silverberg (Majipoor), Ursula K. Le Guin (Earthsea), Tad Williams (Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn), and George R. R. Martin (A Song of Ice and Fire).

And yes Tam and Kari appear on the list:

Too many like "Kari al'Thor. From Andor? Husband Tamlin, Second Captain of the Illianer Companions, took discharge." That pair might have gone anywhere in the world, and there was doubt she had had a child at all. Sometimes only the mother was listed, with six or eight variations on the name of a home village that might lie in one or two or three countries. The list of those easy to find was growing shorter rapidly.

And for the record there are actually 3 versions of New Spring including the soon to come graphic novel version.

Mhmm. Like GRRM's "Hedgeknight", Stephen King's "The Little Sisters of Eluria," Terry Goodkind's "Debt of Bones," and Raymond E. Feist's "The Wood Boy."

Most, if not all of these stories, have been released separately since, many in graphic novel form.

There was also a sequel anthology published in 2004, Legends II. More of the same from a few of the same authors among new ones. Like George R. R. Martin's "The Sworn Sword," Tad William's "The Happiest Dead Boy in the World," and Neil Gaiman's "The Monarch of the Glen."

Sidenote: Not to be out done RJ's short story version of New Spring, is of course the longest story in the anthology.  ;)

About the outrigger novels, I doubt Mat & Tuon would be all of them.
Given that the evidence we have indicates a trilogy about them, why do you doubt it?

From Wikipedia::

The author said he intended to write some 'outrigger novels', one concerning Mat and Tuon.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mat_Cauthon

It tells just one would be on Mat & Tuon.

Also, sticking with just them (and possibly also the Seanchan) with each one would likely get boring; not much variety.

I guess one of the others might be on Birgitte.
