In LoC avi tells rand about some of the wise ones dreams, one concerning the bowl.  She says the key to finding the bowl is to find 'the one who is no longer'.  I think this is refering to setella annan (sp?)  Is that the conclusion everyone else has come to?

Absolutely.  It is theorized that Satelle Anan is in fact an Aes Sedai that studied ter angreal and was burned out because of it.  If you search for her name or "The one who is no longer" you will find more specific references as well as the name of that particular Aes Sedai.

Thoughts on that theory:  Many things that Satelle Anan does reminds me of Cadsuane, and on top of that, other characters have noted her particular abundance of insight when it comes to Aes Sedai.

Hope that helps.  ;)

Then the Aiel Wise Ones should be as old as the Kin, and also the Ayyad, or whatever they are called.

As mentioned in several places the Wise Ones don't use the One Power nearly as often as Aes Sedai which is why so few have any "ageless" faces and my guess is this also reduces the longevity given by being able to channel.

Wise ones don't have "ageless" faces because they don't swear on the oath rod. Perhaps you mean "slowing?" I don't recall any sources that say the wise ones haven't slowed though. Nor any that say they have for that matter.

The stronger one is in the OP, the longer they can potentially live. However, the WO and the Kin have very different lifestyles.

Actual useage of the OP does ot seem to matter, since the KIn are expected to keep their channeling to a minimum in order to avoid detection.

Well, Lan is about 50, so he has about 20 to 30 years max to live  ::)

Cadsuane mentions at one stage that she suspects Sorilea might be even older than herself.

Poor Lan! ;D

Rather poor Nynaeve. Even if she takes the Oath, she should have about 300 years left to live, that is quite a bit of mourning you can fit in there.

Lan on the other hand only has a couple of months left to live, so he will not notice anything ;D

So warders get no longevity out of the deal?  So exactly what is the benfit of getting to be a warder besides the chance to die for an Aes Sedai or running to your death if she does?  ???

Increased endurance and ability to fend off wounds.  Ability to sense Shadowspawn and some protection as well.  An AS to Heal you.

The full answer is that channeling slows the aging process, but swearing on the Oath Rod cuts that aging shorter as well as the Ageless face.

Warders also maintain vitality into old age longer. If you had the choice of living till 80 and finding your body or your mind going, or of living till 80 and still being in pretty good health, I know which one I would choose.

Theoretically yes--concider the tale of Mora, the Wise One who trained Bair in the Dream--she looked as young as Melaine (who looks around thirty) though she was nearly three hundred. She died of a bloodsnake bite, and that is the point. Life in the Waste is harsh, and has a high fatality rate.

That being said there will be Wise Ones out there that are as old as members of the Kin--just probably not as many.

Indeed, and for a fact, Wise Ones do slow.

Cadsuane mentions at one stage that she suspects Sorilea might be even older than herself.

Its highly possible given Sorilea's apparent Age. She is very weak in the power, but given she can touch it whenever she went (as, say, Alise can) then she should have seen centuries. Alise is no where near being the oldest of the Kin, but she is up there in the years, and Sorilea looks older than Alise by a conciderable measure. My guess is she's somewhere between three hundred and four hundred.

That being said, keep in mind that Cadsuane's guess comes from Sorilea's air of experience, not actual knowledge. Cadsuane has no idea about the effects of the Oath Rod, or the actual realities of channeler ageing.

Ummm I will take my chances of being 80 and senile rather then going mad and running off to my doom becuase my Aes Sedai tripped over the cat and fell down the stairs to her death.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why you don't accept a Brown sister's bond. ;D

Actually, I too would rather be bonded, especially considering that an AS lives much longer than her Warders do.
