Leaving things out

In exchange for description of clothes, furniture and dresses RJ left out quite a few things that could have added to the story:

- Mat's fight with Couladin

- Semirhage's destruction of the Imperial family

- The use of Aludra's dragons in battle

Can you think of any other major events that you would like to have seen instead of seemingly endless descriptions - or long scenes on minor characters?

Certainly more scenes where the Forsaken meet and work out strategy.  Something that gives us clear and unimpeachable reason(s) for why they've proceeded as they have.

A reorganization of the story itself, with clear datestamps, so that we can know for certain what happened when.  The real timing relationship between events is critical to some storylines.

Some specifics on how the Seanchan were able to reorganize and return to the offensive so quickly after their defeat at Falme.

An account of the attempted Sea Folk breakout that covered Mat's escape from Ebou Dar.  Something that might give us an appreciation for the Sea Folk, rather than the universal condemnation that people feel now.

A little bit about what Fain has been up to.  He pops up too randomly.  Utilized differently he could build a great deal of suspense into certain situations.

Those are just a few off the top.

I would have like to have seen more of Mat's battles before he fights Couladin. Also when he's battling the Seanchan I would like to get more of Tuon's POV. Although Aludra hasn't used her dragons yet since she hasn't met up with Rand to get the bell founders to forge them.

I thought they had used some of her dragons when Mat was harrassing the Seanchan in Altara?

No, just SPG's ( Sling Propelled Grenades )

Her idea for "Dragons" is really cannon aka artillery.

Dang, my bad.

I would have liked to have seen Damar heal one of the Aes Sedai.

Yes, pretty monumental even after what Nynaeve did.

As a humorous, if not GRRM type of event. Rand and Elayne's "reunion". I bet she's wild one.  ;D

She won't be letting Rand out of whatever room she corners him in for quite some time.  Of course, if she is still pregnant at the time, she might be beating him on the head for putting her in the delicate condition.

Rand and Moraines trip through the Ter'Angreal door.  This I would have realy liked to know.

Yes, but seemed like a pretty nice tool for RJ to do whatever he wanted for whatever reason he wanted depending on where the story went.  Plus that would have given a lot away.

He also missed out Faile dying

I am kind of hoping that in the AMoL that Perrins group gets attacked by 100,000 trollocs like rand did, and they capture Faile and mistreat her and have a feast.

If only we get that lucky.

And a little less description in general.

I'm sorry you feel that way. The indepth description and and the unknowns of the the "bad guys" plans are what Make RJ's work Standalone. He gives us enough information on unknown events we don't need to see them all. I find his work the way it is perfect. His skillfull intertwineing of minute details and event forshadowing are what made his work masterful. I love the rich detail. It is what seperates the WOT series from much more juvinile fantsasy novels like dragonlance or something. Sure hack and slash battles are great, but a good plot is soo much better.

I do appreciate the high detail but sometimes I feel it is unnecessary.

Particularly when the scene is moving really fast (Eg climax) and there is SO much detail that you just can't wait to see what the action is.

I would of liked reading that part as well, I hope that we get to see Setalle Anan healed and her and Elayne study and make new Terangreal.

More Cadsuane POV's so I can get a better reading on the role she is trying to play, I dont see her as BA but there is something strange going on there to me.

Personally, i'm glad some things arent described in minute detail. For example, I think Mat killing Couladin was better for simply being something that happened, without us being there from start to finish.

That battle for me, was the making of Mat - he was desperately trying to sneak away whilst everyone else was distracted, but ended up not only leading Nalesean etc to victory, but killing Rand's biggest enemy in the fray.

Burning building syndrome  ;D
