IMO, Moiraines reappearance will be how Rand relearns to laugh and cry, remember that her name is Numero Uno on that list.

Wasnt there something about Rand failing without a woman dead and gone? I seem to remember something about that and linking it to Moiraine.

 

But it is Cadsuane that teaches him how again, not Moiraine, so maybe her return will help him learn it.

Well no one will recognize her, she was severed.  As no one recognized Siuan and Leanne until told(well Mat recognized siuan's voice).  When they are told I don't know Rand came to trust Moiraine so she may aid in the recovery of emotions, Mat will be Mat and Perrin, not sure.  She'll need to find Damar.

We don't know that: this is as yet a speculative hypothesis based on further speculation about what happened to Lanfear/Cyndane. We must await AMoL to find out what RJ had in mind about this. (This is not to deny the subtlety of the reasoning in the thread(s) about Lanfear/Cyndane, but I myself remain uncertain about the proper explanation of Cyndane's reduced strength in the power vis-a-vis Lanfear.)

I'm of a close mind to that, but I think it will actually be her reappearance that gets him laughing and crying again, like Jarraad said.

We assume Moiraine is severed because:

 

1) We know she is not dead, and we know her bond with Lan was snapped, and we know that a bond snaps when the Aes Sedai either dies or is stilled.

 

2) We observed a reduction in strength with Lanfear's reappearance, and the only cause for such an effect so far is being stilled and restored by a channeler of the same gender. If Lanfear was stilled, it stands to reason that the same could have happened to Moiraine.

 

That given, we don't know that she was stilled. It's merely an educated guess so far.

 

As for Moiraine's reception, I assume Cadsuane will spank her.

personally i support lucker's theory about the 13 aes sedai with the borderlander rulers being darkfriends

 

only reason i bring that up is to mention that rand has to be betrayed by aes sedai one last time (and saved one last time by perrin) and that betrayal will be what pushes him over the edge, or to say 'snaps his string'

 

the reason min viewed that rand needs moraine is because moraines reappearance will be *what* allows rand to laugh and cry again, moraine is the key to Caddy's success.

Rand won't go anywhere near where he suspects anything close to a whisper of thirteen Aes Sedai is any more without a decent escort of other channelers like Nynaeve, Cadsuane and their array of ter'angreal, not unless they are all Oathsworn to him on the Oath Rod. Hopefully he won't, at least.

I dont see the evidence that the AS with the borderlanders are BA, I think they are up to something but 13 and all Black I just dont see it.

That would make sense, I guess after he escaped they feared to return to the White Tower.  That would make them mostly reds.

Even though in LoC and CoS Elidia ordered six red sisters to be dispatched to "advise" Tebonia who had gone into retreat.

 

She also dispatched the rest with Patair, except the advisor he already had.
