Favorite WOT book?

I am sure this has been asked before a few times over the years, but since I am new I was wondering what everybody thought was their favorite book in the series, and maybe even why.

My favorite is still The Eye of the World. It is just so exciting when you first read it and really pulls you into the series. I think I read it in just a few nights the first time. It was so fascinating to read about Aes Sedai and channeling the one power and their warders who were such feirce warriors, and to hear of this Dragon Reborn that would battle the dark one. Everything about it had me on the edge of my seat with excitement. :)

TEotW is not my favourite.  It was amazing once I got into it, but it took me forever to understand what was going on.  And in the beginning they're all just running, and there was hidden meaning in everything that one needed to pick up that I couldn't understand because i had no experience with the series whatsoever... Even after rereading it it isn't my favourite because it takes me forever to get past the first half.  It reminds me of "The Party Tree", the longest beginning chapter ever in Lord of the Rings: the Fellowship of the Ring.

My favourite book... uh... so hard to pick one... The Shadow Rising is amazing because Rand really starts taking hold of his destiny, yet he's not a complete asshole like he ends up being later.  The Fires of Heaven I just thought was one of the funniest because of Aviendha's complete "hatred" of Rand.  So amusing ^^ Lord of Chaos is just action packed, and to top it off, Dumai's Wells.  Can hardly beat that ;)  But then, I like Crown of Swords because I love Min and Rand together, plus I like the entire last half of that book, when he goes to Darlin's camp and nearly dies, then fights Samael.  But I think I must say Knife of Dreams comes out a little farther on top than the others just because of Mat.  He makes that book, I just had so much fun reading about him and his... uh... exploits?  Not to mention that book totally rounds out his character and shows how far he has come.  Wow, so hard to decide that was...

So how in the world am I supposed to pick a favorite. At this point all the books have pretty much blended together into one amaizing story. Even when i go back to read my favorite parts i cant remember where ezactly they happened. RJ did something amaizing. he took a huge story and broke it into many parts. Its not many stories put together to make big story. Its just one story that had to be separated because no one would buy a single book that takes up an entire shelf. That is why RJ is and always will be the greatest fantasy author.

Idunno.. maybe KoD because of all the things that get sorted out in it, and the fact that after CoT it's just a relief. Although I wish there were less stuff from Faile, I don't mind Perrin, but the half the stuff going on in the camp really doesn't interest me; I could picture Faile hogtied though, I wish Perrin would take the hints she's dropping and do something drastic to her to show her he won't be pushed around, once they get their relationship sorted out I'll enjoy chapters with them in much more.

I like WH too - the cleansing, lots of forsaken PoVs, lotsa good stuff.

Then again theres ACoS and LoC (which i kinda tack together)....

*lists them all*

Thanks for the feedback. It's neat to see how different parts of the story appeal to us all a little differently. Ofcourse let's face it...the whole series is great.  :)

I read TSR so many times both covers fell off.  and it's not the paperback.

There are better scenes in some of the other books, but taken as a whole, that's the best so far.

LOC is a very close second.

I read the series over quite a long period of time so they've all just blurred together for me. But, purely because of Dumai Wells, I think I'd go with LoC.

L.O.C. has to be it. The battle scene at the end is the best ever. Ashaman kill has to be one of the best lines ever.

Off the top of my head I'd have to rank them in this order:

1. The Shadow Rising

2. The Fires of Heaven

3. Lord of Chaos

4. The Great Hunt

5. The Eye of the World

6. Knife of Dreams

7. Winter's Heart

8. Path of Daggers

9. The Dragon Reborn

10. Crown of Swords

11. Crossroads of Twilight

In a list it would be something like

Knife of Dreams

The Fires of Heaven

The Great Hunt

Lord of Chaos

The Shadow Rising

A Crown of Swords

The Eye of the World

The Dragon Reborn

The Path of Daggers

Winter's Heart

Crossroads of Twilight

But then a list for me is almost futile since I love every single one of those books to an almost pathological level (yes CoT included). Like really the first 6 of those books would rank as 1, the next 3 as 2, and the last two as 3. KoD gets number 1 cause it rocks. Oh man, I'm so glad RJ got this far before his death. You have no idea.

Well yes, I agree wholeheartedly.  Even thought COT is last on my list of WOT books, it is still one of my top 11 favorite books of all time, if you catch my drift.
