I can totally understand where @HeavyHalfMoonBlade is coming from. This was the first game I played where I was able to make it through the whole game with a smile on my face, no pressure headache, and a sense of "this is just a game". My first 3 games felt like highschool and being the kid that's new and knows no one AND everyone one secretly hates you. I totally know it was not like that, but my mind struggled to grasp the fact that I hadn't done anything wrong and nobody hated me. It took me spectating the two games before this one to get a better grip of the mechanics, wording and playstyle and a BIG heaping helping of "I don't give a crap if I win or lose" to be able to come into this game with a sense of "this is a game and I will play it as such". So I just did my best, laughed at everything and didn't take any of it too serious. But I can totally see how that might be hard for others to do, especially given RL solitary situations. 

But Heavy just know we all, well most of us anyways, do really care about you and the rest of the members here and we are always available in and out of the game for you. I love you All and am here to brighten your day or night if you are in a different time zone 😋

 

Oh and @ed2funy Sorry I killed you, you were kinda sus for killing Heavy so I shot you, oops 👼

I still think we should have a version of mafia that is strictly funny and lighthearted, not sure how but I would be game!

 

In the end my best advice is play like you don't care if you win, lose, die or live, just laugh and have fun!

@HeavyHalfMoonBlade for someone that has a difficult time emotionally with this game you have a great instinct for it. 
 

Ive seen you in three games.  
 

in each game you cut through the bs and post thought processes that are more often on the mark than not. 
 

if there is a weakness it’s a bit in the omgus area which now is obviously due to your situation and understandable. 
 

you seem to be really good at logic and are a natural at this game. 
 

if you think you may be able to keep playing at some point I’d follow a couple of games in the dead thread and try to solve in there without the pressure. 
 

see how that triggers you.  I had a lot of fun doing that for the first game I came back for and when I got mis lunched day 1. 
 

anyway. It is good playing with you.  You have my prayers and wishes that life stabilizes for you.

@HeavyHalfMoonBlade Stepping away from something when it's not working out for you is a smart call.  I've definitely seen a lot of people continue to play well past the point of still enjoying it.  Do what works for you.  👍

 

That being said, if you enjoy the community aspect of it, you don't have to give that up too if you don't want to.  A lot of retired players still spectate games, and while this forum doesn't have a great option for spectating, we used to always have spectator threads on Quicktopic before it shut down.  That can easily be revived through another platform.  I know people who quit playing but still enjoy hosting.  Just saying there are definitely options to engage in the social side without the stress of a live game.

 

There are also very different manifestations of Werewolf out there.  Personally, this style of game doesn't work too well for me either.  Different reasons, and I've had nothing but fun in the two games I've played since DM started running them again, but games of this size and length definitely cause me more stress than fun if I play too many of them.  In fact, checking my notes now, I've played exactly one game in this style outside of Dragonmount in the past four years.

 

There are turbos--games where days only last 15 minutes and, for me at least, it's over too soon for me to start feeling uncomfortable.  I've never dabbled in video mafia, but there are many communities that specialize in that.  My personal favorite style is mashes, massive 50+ player games that rarely last more than five real life days.  Being forced to accept limited information by the shear impossibility of reading every post canceled out my obsession with overanalyzing everything as town, while having a dozen team mates canceled out the feeling of isolation that came with being the minority faction as wolf.  For a lot of people, mashes are the absolute worst form of the game.  It all depends on what works for you.

 

My point is just that if you really enjoy some aspects of this game but hate others, there are probably a lot of other people who feel the same way, and game styles have developed that best suit what those people are looking for.  I'm not trying to make you reconsider--sometimes checking out entirely is the best option--just want to let you know how vast of a world Werewolf is and that there are other things out there.

Modding is actually a great way to learn to see everything from the outside. So when you back on the inside you have that bit of shield from the shenanigans. 

 

You should def work with someone and mod a game @HeavyHalfMoonBlade

 

You only have to ask around a little to find out what batpoop crazy Ithi was like before she modded a few games lol
