no, I don't think anyone is really agreeing with you.

Lol, I see your unnecessarily argumentative comment wasn't perceptive but just projection.

Or are you really arguing that wtl lists should be spurious and whimsical? Honest question.

@DPR do you really not see the difference between a reads list and a wtl list? Especially in the context of this early in the game?

The way I understand it, the most dangerous person with a sword, is the newbie attempting to fight with a sword for the first time.

A Pro can easily defeat them, but a newbie can just as easily injure themselves and the pro (or worse), if the Pro doesn't pay attention.

That is a spectacularly inappropriate metaphor for mafia in my opinion, Sinister.

Man, you are overthinking this game WAY too much.

I really do not. Getting conversations going is vital. Avoiding spam is helpful, but kinda unavoidable.

I don’t understand the emotional attachments, but I’m trying g to wrap my brain around it.

With regards to me, is that supposed to be a joke? If it is, it shouldn't be the only thing in the post about me.

About what...?  At that time you only had a couple of posts with one of them claiming town.  Give me more to go on if you want an honest read

how does people sharing their opinions on players anything but good? Making statements is how we build our information and our track record within a game. Everyone should be looking to make statements and looking at those unwilling to make statements in a critical light.

I got nothing out of this, I will say I know a bit of what Ed's got going on IRL though so atm he is not sus to me.

You know what, let's put my vote to good use, VOTE HEAVY still willing to vote Sinister but I am starting to get bad vibes from Heavy's logic

*Confused*

Someone who is new to a game, may well make mistakes. In their blunders, a townie might come off as a wolf, or anti-town, and If they had a power role as town, they may well blunder it by getting lynched which further hurts town.

I thought it was a good metaphor.

Which emotional attachments? Honestly don't get what you mean.

But anyway I don't like how much noise we are making. I think words are important. They have meaning. Asking someone for their top mafia read is completely different for asking how they are willing to eliminate. Not in content but in tone. Tone is important.

It would be good to hear from other people about their thought processes.

It wasn't a mafia game, I'm talking about the Video game Bio shock. lol

The antagonist used the phrase "Would you kindly" throughout the game, and every time he did that, you would unknowingly do something he programmed you into doing them.

So you making that statement, instantly recalled that as a manipulative phrase and makes me sus.

The fact that you thought it was a mafia game, makes me less sus of you now, because you've somehow never heard of bioshock.

Yes but a new player has intelligence, intuition, and problem solving all at their disposal. Categorizing them as a danger to themselves and to others, is pretty far from the mark and fairly insulting.

Plus in this context I only know Teph hasn't played here, I have no idea about any experience elsewhere. Though asking would probably clear that up, but I personally don't think that experience is quite what some seem to think it is in this game.

And on a different point of DPR Teph interaction, a reads list just shows the state of your thoughts, a WTE list this early is a bit strange. Seems far too definitive a question, a bit leading really. Not sure what to make of it though.

When DPR asked for a top 3 WTL, figured better to give a current read since I dont have a top 1 lynch.... YET

You forgot inconsistent tone. That is always a favourite regarding me.

But your reasoning is my logic gives you bad vibes? OK. Can't say I find that particularly convincing but I suppose I'm biased.

I don't get this "let's steer the conversation to eliminations" is the same as giving reads argument. Words literally mean things. If you mean reads, say reads. If you mean wtl, use that. Why use different concepts interchangeably?

We all have that, including the people in that metaphor.
I didn't mean any insult by it. @Tephulis, if you felt insulted by that, I apologize, that wasn't my intention.

I'm literally looking at it as new players to the game, or new players to DM are something to be wary of, because we don't know them. You cannot predict their actions, you don't know how to read them. You don't know if that person is acting like a wolf, because they're a wolf, or if that's just their personality.

Ok thanks for clearing that up. I still don't think the mental image of someone cutting their own body parts off a accurately sums up an unknown quantity, but thanks for the clarification.

we have seen numerous games on this website where a new player fumbled their way into an immediate d1  exist, so much so that "newbie pass" became a thing for awhile, but then we started getting "newbies" that would take advantage of said "newbie pass" and bamboozle the whole game. This game is very volatile and a lot to take in for new players so the metaphor is quite apt, heck it aptly describes even my first game, though I think I survived til day 3.

I think it was a pretty simple analogy to understand.

I do get concerned with having a bias towards people who post a lot.   But I have real thoughts about you and Sinister and what looks to me like subtle human nature tenderizes that link you two.

I’ll post details on that later.  Got called away earlier and now my Mom is in town for a visit and doing this from my phone.

second time having to write this out. First post disappeared.
