So I was thinking, a lot of theme tunes become part of popular culture. Likewise, a lot of songs we know and love get adapted to the small screen. What are your favourites? Which ones do you hate?

For me, one of my favourites is the "Sharpe" theme tune. Its called "Over The Hills and Far Away" and is an old English folk song which has been jazzed up a bit. Its just great for that series and its so jolly I can't help singing along.  ;D

Yep thats a FANTASTIC song!  ;D I have the soundtrack to the Sharpe series, and when i listen to it, that song is the first and last one I listen to.  ;D ;D

Doctor Who. Just love the music for the introduction of the programme. It draws you in and then you're hocked for the episode.

I'm going to expand this and cover adverts and films, as there is some great music for both.

the Law and Order shows themes.  There is just something about that opening sound....

and old sitcoms themes..to sing along too! lol

They're creepy and they're spooky, mysterious and kookie, they're all together ookie..the Addams Family!

Gilligan's Island - What, someone had to say it!  Now you're humming it!

Actually the score that was on the Angel opening credits I liked.  But then, I like the sound of a cello.

Yipeeee..I have lived..I'm a thorough geek inmore than 3 sci/fi shows... :(

I loved the music for the X-files... Stargate is good too.

And do you have those tunes where you really feel like getting ip and doing things...Hawaii 5-O....gotta do surf board moves to that one and sing it...hey I just done it sitting down too... ;D

God I must be bored :(

Now I get to be really sad... I totally adored the theme tune to Cagney and Lacey  :o and also to Charmed. ;D

OOOOOOO

the FIREFLY theme was AWESOME!!!! Joss Wheaton wrote it himself, and it does a PERFECT job of showing the theme the show portrays, their struggle in a fight that seems insurvivable, and it really fits the sci-fi western really well!

im a bit of a cartoon nut so i tend to have spongebob squarepants stuck in my head..... alot

but my two ultimate fav theme tunes for proper tv shows are the A-Team and Knightrider

That Law and Order sound is almost as recognizable as the Opening guitar trill in the

theme.... Who doesn't recognize
...yep Ben, Firefly is a great one and The Who on CSI is great too....

For me, I went nuts over a piece of TV commercial music a few years ago... Was a Mitsubishi car I think... But the song was of all things Horndog by Overseer! Which I'm listening to as I type.

The Charmed Theme was Love Spit Love covering the Morrissey song How Soon Is Now recorded by

! One of the most loved and well known songs of the Eighties.  But all you Brits knew that din' ya' ;)

But of course any Cavalryman or a JotS devotee worth his salt loves this one the very, very mostest...

Hello.... I'm Mr. Ed

A horse is a horse of course of course

And no one can talk to a horse of course

That is unless the horse of course

Is the famous Mr. Ed

Go right to the source and ask the horse

He'll give you the answer that you endorse

He's always on a steady course

Talk to Mr. Ed

Im gettin all misty eyed over this one boss! ;D

Many of us are band geeks...and who doesn't remember playing some TV themes for halftime shows or pep band?

Green Dolphin Street, The Horse, Peter Gunn theme..yes Hawaii Five-O ( that made me laugh Talya..my highschool had actions for the whole song!!)  and of course the Budwieser Commercial!!!  Of course that was years and years ago...some of the themes from new shows I would imagine have made it into band catalogues by now!
