My concern is that it can take a year for someone's turn to come up or it can be fast forwarded substantially if the people above them fail to show. I don't like the idea of someone waiting in queue for ten months and then losing their turn because they happened to be busy at work that week and never checked the forums.

Yeah, I'll handle that on a case by case basis. In your example, they would go to the top - in the example Nol was bringing up, they would go to the bottom.

I think that's fair for both scenarios.

I think two weeks would be a good starting benchmark for how long someone should have before being bumped to the bottom of the queue.

And one week for them to actually put up signups before it goes to the next person in the queue. but your mileage may vary

Darthe automatically goes to the end of all queues regardless of situation.

That covers everything, I believe.

Some waiting period to allow someone to get their game up is fine, but a week might be a little long in some cases. The group isn’t that big, so most of us are already aware that Key/Zander/DPR/Eldrick aren’t around often anymore. So like in this case, maybe send a message and then wait a day or two. No response or no signups, bump them. Waiting potentially two weeks when the players we're waiting on haven’t been around in months is just gonna slow down an already slow process.

Honestly, with the queue the size it is today I would be cool with someone coming in from the sideline to run their games when they have the chance as well. I do agree with Nol that when people have been waiting for months it feels unfair for others to "skip" the line, but the thing is that currently the lines are really short, so if we can get more people to come in and hang out for a while by allowing them to host when they are available, I'm all for it.

Verbal just shut down mafia in the social groups so things might pick up with more players/less games to go around.

This is true. I guess we’ll see. Still doesn’t change anything about the mods in the queue no longer being active.

FWIW Darthe is next on the Advanced queue and I doubt Key/Eldrick are going to run games.

So maybe his BT Ultimate Showdown III can move here and count?

re: Social Group mafia games

I think a one time exception can and should be made to integrate games that were already planned, regardless of the queue.

Darthe's is one and I think some Ajah or another had a Harry Potter thing.

I think in this case it would be ok to run more than two games concurrently as well as long as they have the players.

I've already addressed this, Nolder.  The WT game (Harry Potter) is annual, and not for many more months.

And I said that existing queues for other groups could be worked into this board's queue and I'll figure it out.

I get the impression you say this like I should know what you're doing and that you're exasperated. I'm just giving my opinion on the situation. If you already addressed it, cool. If what you're doing lines up with what I'm saying, cool. If it doesn't well oh well I guess.

No need to get upset about it.

There is no exasperation or upset, I'm just letting you know I addressed it (and posted about it).  It is being handled.

FYI, if I'm upset about something DM-related and it pertains to anybody, they'll know about it.  ;-)

I think you need to work on your tone reading Nolder

Mmmm sometimes I guess but I happen to believe I'm pretty good at tone reading online.

Gotcha.  For me, that's where random Star Wars facts live.
