  1. That's fine, explore away. Sounds fine. She'd be one of our traditional novices (we don't allow Wilders). The White Tower RP Group is part of our Tar Valon RP Section along with the Warders.  Our novices train in retro and you then choose what age you want them to be in the current timeline when they get Raised. Kathleen is in charge at the WT but I think she's still on leave of absence, so I'm here to help if you need anything. The pinned threads on this board should give you all the bio submission info and links to the WT website.

Think that's all of mine updated. Everything in purple is a change/correction.

  3. I agree! I literally finished reading it 2 minutes ago. I love their whole story line so far but Mat your description of Nox was breaking my heart and when Merdyn dropped all his books at the sight of him..... just *sigh* ...lovely posts.

  4. Rhyanon Glendawr. It was rare that anyone addressed her by her married name and so it was still novel enough to sound utterly captivating to Rhya. Especially when spoken by the voice of the one responsible for her having it! How very far I have come in so short a time. Changes I could not have predicted had I tried to do so. A family lost and a family gained. An inheritance lost but a purpose gained. The love of my father lost but the love of a husband gained.

Owen leaned in close to Rhya, bringing her meandering thoughts back to the present. “I am really proud of you, my love, I hope you are as happy as I am?”

Skin flushed with heightened colour from the unusual circumstance of being the focus of so much attention, Rhya turned sparkling eyes Owen's way and replied in kind to the quietly spoken query. "How could I not be?" The slow smile that was his alone spread across her face. "To become a Ranger, and to do so without disappointing you? I am really proud of me too! But those things are simply added bounty," she laid long fingers against his chest, feeling the regular, solid rhythm of his heartbeat, "to the wealth I already had right here beneath my fingertips."

Her eyes dropped to the wolf's head now pinned in the folds of her new cloak. "It's a very pretty broach though, is it not?" True delight, that she couldn't quite hide, suffused her voice then, somewhat belying the calmness of her previous words, and causing Owen to smile. "And new weapons and armour too! It feels almost like my Naming Day."

Rhya stretched up on tiptoe, pressing a loving, if brief, kiss against his lips and murmured, " Come then, we had best be sure to speak to everyone quickly."

"Why the rush, Rhya?" came the apparently innocent, but clearly amused, reply.

As if he hadn't the first notion! she thought, raising an eyebrow at him in disbelief. "Because we need to go home... so I can thank you. Properly..." she grinned, spinning off back into the crowd of well wishers, with the rare sound of his laughter in her ears.

  5. Hi Charles! Welcome to DM. Glad to hear you're enjoying the books so far, still quite a ways to go. It's fun seeing all these new readers emerging and watching them go through the same rigmarole we all did the first time. I envy you having the whole set to read at once without the lengthy waits in between.

Check out the various Clubs, on the tab up there^^^ might find one that suits you. Other wise the TV and book discussions are below this board but beware spoilers everywhere!

  6. Kiyi looked the litter over with barely hidden dislike, only her willpower preventing her from scrunching her nose up in distaste. She was used to walking everywhere from the time her legs could carry her. Failing that, accomplishing a journey on horseback was perfectly acceptable. The concept of being carried about by other people, however, had struck her as lazy and indulgent ever since she'd arrived in Tar Valon. Still, she had to grudgingly admit that it kept men in decent employment. It would be churlish to refuse them an opportunity to earn, and equally foolish to offend the sensibilities of her sisters this early in a new venture.

Gathering her skirts in one hand, Kiyi followed the White's example, ascending the litter, and choosing to dispose herself beside the opening. If she had to suffer enclosure, she could at least do so with fresh air circulating. Stillness settled around her like a cloak as she turned her thoughts to their mission.

Rumours of ghosts, she mulled the idea over feeling less sceptical than the leader of their little coterie. And why not? If Palace corridors can shift and re-route themselves, why should the dead not walk?

Kiyi had spent the last few months, prior to her return, in Caemlyn. Ostensibly paying her respects to Adine, she had actually been there at the Queen's request, observing the steady stream of visitors to the Palace. It had been ...instructive. And disturbing. Particularly concerning were the unpredictable changes to rooms and corridors within the Palace. They had resulted in events sometimes amusing, more often debilitating, occasionally devastating, and always inconvenient. A clear sign, amongst many others, both in Caemlyn and elsewhere, that the Last Battle was coming.

Probably sooner than any of us will like or are ready for!

Bringing her focus back to the present, Kiyi made an effort to be sociable, addressing her quietly spoken question to her companions with a polite air of enquiry.

"My apologies, Sisters, I was not furnished with the names of those participating in our little venture and I'm afraid I have been long out of the Tower. Kiyissalle Chevra of the Blue Ajah, at your service. May I have the privilege of knowing with whom I travel?"

  7. Every year Historic Scotland do an Open Doors weekend and offer a set number of tickets for loads of different properties around the country. Took advantage last year and we went to see Tantallon Castle and Direlton Castle, both fairly local to us in the Lothians. It's an awesome way to get into these places. Hoping this year to go see Blackness Castle where some of the filming for Outlander was done. It's even closer to home, we've just been lazy about going.

A few photos I managed to salvage from my phone of Tantallon, a mid-14th century castle/fortress and home to the infamous Red Douglas family. The weather was mixed, to say the least, for a November day in Scotland. Amazed it didn't snow too. Had great fun running along the ramparts and climbing up and down the crazy steep steps inside the walls. The castle lies due east of Edinburgh on the coast, and sits on the cliffs above the North Sea. The "island" is the Bass Rock with its lighthouse, famous for its bird colonies.

  8. Not many hugely important RP's. This was most of what I could find. The rest consisted of Blue Ajah classes, Testings and Oaths.

Changing Tides - Regalia - Blue/Yellow/White discussion about bonding Asha'man

Just Another Morning? - Serena Morrigan - Serena becomes the first member of The Order of the Rose at Sirayn Sedai of the Green Ajah's request. Their objective - to hunt the Black Ajah.

Little Pieces of Chaos (999NE) - Meranda Sedai (NSW) - Sirayn visits Meranda's rooms with intentions to seek revenge. She recruits Meranda to...something. Thread topics cover self harm, incest and sexual abuse so avoid this RP if these are triggers for you.

A Red in the Blue Quarters - Jagen Sedai comes to visit Estel with an apology, upsetting Aeveryn in the process.

Blue sky and grey clouds - Darienna Ceradin of the Grey Ajah (Mistress of Novices) takes matters regarding Estel's self imposed sequestration in her room, into her own hands, and has a subsequent confrontation with the First Selector, Corrine.

Old Women and Politics - Sirayn Damodred, the Amyrlin Seat, visits the First Selector, Corrine'dei Susten in an attempt to uncover the Blue Ajah's reasons for holding a grudge against her.

  9. DM Handle: Liitha

    Character Name: Arya Daenerys Somtaaw

    RP Group: The Band

Age: 10 when she joined, aged now into a young woman, age unspecified (so somewhere in her teens)

    Gender: Female

Physical Description: Black long hair, brown eyes, (4"59, 88lbs at 10 yrs)

    Place of Birth/Raising: Shienar/The road

    Philosophy: Flame and Void

    Character History

Tamsanne was born the daughter of Domani merchants. She learned trading, and when the lust to seek adventure came over her she spent her hard earned money from her family's business on a minor wagon and a horse to go travel the roads. She would trade anything she thought there might be any value in, and managed to get enough income to survive on.

Every so often she would write home telling her parents of her adventures. It was on her way towards the Blight she one night shared a campsite with a male traveler. She had had a good trade and was carrying with her bottles of wine, to celebrate. She opened one of the bottles to share with him, keeping the cold outside.

It was but a couple months later she would learn the consequences of the random meeting in the woods. Going home to her family for support, she was turned a cold shoulder. Her previously so proud parents now saw her as a liability. Without anywhere else to go Tamsanne searched towards Shienar, to seek out her little one's father in hope that the man would at least offer some help. But she was never able to find him and so she hit the one place she had left, the road.

She gave birth to a little girl in the early summer, one that would grow into a little tomboy with the years, under the influence of the stories of her past.

    -9 years later-

Arya looked in horror as her home went up in flames, hiding behind a rock she could hear her mother scream, tears where running down her cheeks. Her mother had sent her to check the traps before they left and when she came back, the camp they had set up was filled with men clad in torn clothes. Closing her eyes she saw her mother's face telling her of the dangers of the road. She had promised to run. Slowly she opened her eyes, her mother was pale and lifeless, she had seen that look once when she was younger when they had passed a wagon that had been looted.

Slowly she stared etching away back towards where she left her mare, leading her away into the forest. Her mother had taught her to hunt, to help on their food supply, she knew how to move quietly. When she couldn't hear anything anymore but birds singing, and the flames and smoke were out of her sight she stopped, looking back and sought to put up her speed.

That night she curled up under the trunk of a tree, in a cave-like construction after checking her supply and thanking the Creator that she had packed before checking the traps that morning. It was cold but she managed to sleep, she had picked nuts while walking but was still hungry, the traps had been empty. She could always set new ones but then she had to wait and she dared not. Summer was coming, her tenth, so she didn't worry, she had the threads from the snares, her hunting knife and she could always climb trees and raid nests, there would be plenty to live off from the nature.

For the months to come she would live from hand to mouth, taking work wherever she could and if not then live of what the nature offered. She knew what her mother had told her of her father, he had been a soldier and a good man from what she got. It was while tending horses in an inn as extra help that she heard of the Band for the first time. And when she was dismissed from work in the inn, she searched towards where she had learned their Citadel would lie. On foot the journey was a struggle and autumn came. But still the weather was hot. And so it was with green leaves slowly turning yellow blown into her hair from a mild autumn breeze that she found herself staring at the gate to her goal, nervously hoping she had made the right choice.

Clutching the reins she whispered, "Dashiva." This was for him. She would have made him proud she was sure. Tugging the reins she lead the mare towards the gate.

    ___

After making her way to the Band she not only finds her Dad but is also allowed to stay as a stable hand. She is of to from her point not the best start with her dad being a bit nervous but as time pass they do spend some time together getting to know each other. A.D. going by what her mom said and growing up on the road instead of fear takes on a childish curiosity to her fathers skills, after some intial scepticism.

She also takes a liking to one of the older females in the Band (older being relative considering A.D.'s young age) and starts looking up too Drea.

She early on aspires to join the scouts as soon as she gets old enough to do so, meanwhile as she grows train in any way she finds possible and together with whomever allowed her.

As she starts to come into her teens she also manages to learn the flame and the void together with Saira and Heather.

Eventually she gets old enough to join the ranks and she muses over how strange it feels not running around as a stable hand as she waits to go on her first mission, where half the band is leaving for Tanchico on the Dragon's order.
