I think I saw something in one of @Taymist's recent writings about (somethings) going bad and killing people?

That's the RP Arinth and I are doing. We decided to keep it to just the two of us for the moment as it's also a char dev between Arinth & Elynde. If we get to a point where we need help, we might possibly open it up to certain alliance people but not just yet.

I'd be interested in RP'ing Rhya with Nox if we can come up with a reason/idea. Let them build on their initial meeting, strengthen the WK/BT connection since the actual alliance is between the BT/Band.  After this weekend though.

  2. Yep, I'm here. LOA this weekend 7th/8th as away for work with limited internet access. Might check in on my tablet if I remember to keep it charged!

Elynde (Infantry, Corporal) - Bio Here

    Just completed inter div RP.

    Current:

    - Investigative/char dev RP with Arinth. He tagged me so I won't tag him again. We'll end up like haggis with two legs shorter than the others, running round the top of a hill in circles.

No objection to doing any weapons training that will get me some WS points.

Rhya (Ranger, Full rank) - Bio Here

Just completed inter div RP, may do one further post to that thread to round things up from WK perspective.

    Current:

-Ongoing solo RP, retro-ing Ranger training; Riverwind's Folly.

-Ongoing character development/personal story arc with Owen. Celebrating Rhya becoming a full Ranger.

-New char development/fun RP going hunting/herb collecting with fellow Ranger, Lorelai @Nynaeve. She's waiting on me replying at the moment.

I'd like to see us moving the story forward in terms of main plot even if it's just in small localised ways. We have until the end of the year to deal with any Book 11 plots you want to pick up.

  3. Was it the eyes? Ely turned a corner and checked her bearings. Still two streets away from The Red Rascal. It would be good to speak with Nowal.

She definitely had trouble forgetting the eyes. No. That suggested she had tried to forget. She couldn't honestly claim that. It was a memory she clung to. A moment out of time. It reminded her of her 8th name day. Uncle Jorey had been in harbour on one of those rare shore visits and Father had taken her out on his old ship. He missed his days on the water and had needed little excuse to introduce his daughter to the experience. They'd been caught in a storm on the return journey. Nothing serious, merely a sudden squall common in the coastal waters around Ebou Dar.  She'd been small back then of course, and the elements wild. She well recalled the thrill of the ship being thrown about; of being right on the edge of losing control and feeling so...free. Yet, somehow, still being anchored solidly to the waves beneath them by some irresistible force. Looking into his eyes, eyes that reminded her of those equally stormy skies, had been every bit as exhilarating and made her feel every bit as free. It was terrifying.

"Ely." She squeezed her eyes tight shut for a brief second. And there it was. The anchor. Tethering her to the spot again. Great. Now I'm hearing things too. The same as she had outside the Lodge. Although maybe that had been real after all? Her mind was more than a little spotty on some details.

"You are ok?" The voice wasn't stopping this time. A tremor ran through her and she opened wary eyes to find him standing there. In front of her. Within reaching distance. His keen stare ran over her, checking she was in one piece. Everywhere it touched, her body responded as though to the softest caress. Ely inhaled deeply. She had to stop this. With a supreme effort of will she kept her face impassive but it was difficult in the presence of his genuine concern. Nobody could doubt that much, seeing him, it was written all over his face and his posture.

Ely couldn't take her own eyes off him never mind find a coherent reply. So many words jumbled on the tip of her tongue, so many emotions bubbling just under the surface, such an urge to reach out and... Her spine straightened. Control. She'd been in very tight control of herself, her emotions, her whole life these past years. She unconsciously understood the why of it. When your entire life is suddenly in chaos, any slight control is something to cling to; reassuring, comforting, familiar. She knew herself well enough to know her true nature was nothing like controlled. And it was nearer the surface than she wanted it to be. Because the loss of that control would bring with it all the things she didn't want to face. Being herself meant getting hurt. She couldn't go through that again. It was all right there, a fine balancing act, ready to topple if she misstepped.

Ely watched his hand rise, stretching towards her, hovering uncertainly, until he eventually just squeezed her shoulder. It was gentle but she winced a little even so, the bruises from one heavy blow still tender, and he removed his hand quickly. She quashed the urge to stop him.

“You look good. I was worried. They said the blade that wounded you was poisoned.”

She opened her mouth to answer but whatever she'd intended to say, all that came out was, "Arinth." The word issued low, her voice husky from disuse. She relished speaking his name, thought she noted a flare of something at the back of his eyes, and attempted to speak coherently again but ended up offering a simple, "Thank you." She didn't have to explain what for. He knew he'd saved her life after all.

He nodded, brushing it off as if it was of no importance but Ely's attention had moved to his own appearance, caught by the awkwardness of his stance. She took in his arm, noted the swelling still barely noticeable on his face, and stared at various scars and bruises. If someone had punched her in the gut it might have caused less pain. A soft sound of distress escaped her and she swallowed, visibly shaken. Hearing the story from Tris hadn't really prepared her for seeing him injured. This time it was her hand reaching to touch, to check, but not wishing to cause any further harm. It hovered there for a few seconds and finally, dropped helplessly, concern clouding her features.

"Don't pretend it didn't matter. Tris told me what you did," her gaze tracked the little swelling that remained across Arinth's cheek, up to his temple and then lowered, lingering on his arm. "It was your life risked for mine. My wound may be healing, and yes," she answered his original statement quietly, "there was poison in it, but thankfully not as much as it might have been due to the angle of the blade, but I'm still as weak as can be. I was lucky. And I'm off duty for the time being."

Ely found Arinth's eyes with her own again and a rare, genuine smile slowly tilted across her mouth, softening her features, and crinkling the corners of her eyes. It just made her happy that he was standing there, to know he'd been worried. Even if it was only professional concern. She'd almost forgotten what happy felt like. She was allowed that much wasn't she? Just for a minute.

"I'd best not keep you," she murmured, side stepping and taking a step in the direction of the inn. But invisible strings halted her before she could go further. She glanced over her shoulder. The offer spilled from her lips out of nowhere, "If you have the time... would you let me stand you a meal or a drink at least? I have to eat and the company would be...welcome."

Arinth's acceptance was immediate, the speed of it making her smile again despite her best efforts not to. She couldn't seem to keep her emotions in check around him at all! Smiling at him like a girl at her first Bel Tine! They fell into step, walking steadily but not rushing along the remaining streets, and found themselves in front of a white washed building with an ornately painted sign declaring The Red Rascal a few minutes later. It was quiet at this time of day, as Ely had known it would be, with only a scattering of patrons at the bar. With no discussion, they both made for a table in the back corner of the room. Ely liked having her back to a wall. Even more so with a wound to protect.

She sat gingerly, trying not to let the back of the chair press too closely across her back, and on glancing surreptitiously at Arinth, found him doing the same thing. She couldn't help it, laughter choked out of her and she slapped a hand across her mouth, eyes dancing. "Sorry!" she gasped. "But..." Fingers waggled back and forth indicating both of them. It was no use. The picture they must have made sitting down like a couple of old crones was too much for Ely. Laughter came whether she willed it or no, peal after infectious peal, releasing some of the stress that had pent up in the last few days. And if there was a slight edge of hysteria to it, that was hardly to be wondered at.

  4. Don't get me wrong, I'm in no way against making changes going forward. Having an Ajah Head who is in exile permanently is completely unfeasible.

My point is that, if Key as OOC Head in agreement with Kath as Group Leader, decided that Asynadra is the NSW Head, then Head she is until something concrete happens to replace her (starting with Kath's agreement). I'm sure they had their reasons for the choice.

If an Ajah hasn't been active, which the Blues most certainly haven't, and their RP's have been mainly character led, then it's no wonder their Ajah Head hasn't been mentioned, especially given she's not in the actual Tower. It doesn't negate her existence. Speak to Kath about changing the Head by all means, but let's not change the facts or post inaccurate facts until that's been done, okies?

  5. Hello  and welcome to the our Revolution One RP board.

Rev One exists so you can write a wider variety of RP stories. It is considerably more informal than our main Role Play Sections.

Want to see the Shadow winning the Last Battle?

Got plans for how the world had been different if the Ten Nations hadn't fallen to the trollocs?

Think it would be a blast to have your Wolfkin running around in the Stargate universe?

Maybe you'd like to place your channeler in the modern day world or even the future?

This is the place to show your mad writing skills and ideas!

You have the opportunity to play out everything you've never been allowed to play before. The possibilities are infinite. No need to worry about how it will affect other people's role play because you're playing in a self-contained portal stone world in your thread. If you and your partners are up for it, that's all that matters subject to the few guidelines below.

    Guidelines

    - There are no bios required unless an individual RP organiser requests them from participants. Usually that will only be for extended story arcs, to help players interact and know who's who.

    - Please clearly mark out of character discussion threads with the name of the proposed RP + OOC to differentiate from actual in character RP's.

    - Keep it PG-13. The Dragonmount Code of Conduct applies to all RP boards.

    - If you prefer other people not to jump in to your RP, use the tag system to add a "Closed" tag. If you don't mind, or are actively looking for people to write with, use an "Open" tag.

    FAQ's

What if your story is so long that it takes more than one thread to complete? No problem, your characters' sagas can continue in as many threads as you need, to infinity and beyond!

How do you get started? If you have an idea already, all you have to do is start writing, and invite others to join the fun. You can write detailed character histories (bios) if you feel like you need them, but they are not mandatory. In case you're running short on inspiration the RP Staff can help bounce ideas around as well. Simply post on The Welcome Inn board for assistance.

That covers the basics, so go forth and roll out your glorious plans. Make it so!

  6. Oh please do if you'd like to. I played it like we're drinking buddies, hope you don't mind the liberty, but it worked in nicely! And your post seemed a perfect length to me, I just read it while I had breakfast, really enjoyed it. You can tell I had a lot insomniac nights lately, I've read allllllll the things over the last month or so lol.

  7. Yeayyyy *snugglebites the BB* welcome home.

So we didn't get much further since you were last here. There's only really Arinth and me actively writing. We finished off the inter div rp thread and are just working out the next one.

I think you also have an open RP with a few of the others and a Tinkers caravan? Unless that's complete now.

But Quibby is back too, and I think he plans to RP with Pahl, blowing stuff up. Cass said she'd be around after Saturday. There, you're all caught up.

  8. LMAO  yeah, I'm afraid the vast majority of folks here have read and devoured the Books as they were published. And several more times since. There are always new readers coming along of course but it's very hard to stay spoiler free this long after the final book publication. I guess it's going to be an issue for anyone coming to the TV series without reading the books. Not sure how the Admins plan to handle that yet.

Your table top game is in the right place, don't panic lol. Our RP Club isn't that kind of RP. We do post based writing, our own characters set in the WoT world.

I didn't really stop liking Perrin, I just felt he got a bit hen pecked. There was a tendency to make him look slow and stupid which he's not. It picks up speed eventually. The last couple of books in particular just fly by.

  9. Well, it helps me, I dislike Nynaeve completely, and Perrin was my favourite to begin with but that changed...because Faile, bleh. We all have parts of the books we skim or skip, it seems a common issue so it won't be an unpopular view around here!

Anyway, hi Sephi, welcome to DM. I'm Tay. Make yourself at home, ask away if you have questions. You can chat  all things books and TV here on the forums or if you feel like socialising, you can visit the Clubs tab up there ^^^ and find one that appeals. There's a role play club, a writing club, various book based clubs etc. Explore, have fun, don't be nervous. We only bite now and then.

  10. lol Arie, you were instrumental in the change, I thought you'd remember *twaps your nose*

Keep up people. It's in the first post of the Guide HERE and it's also in the Bio form template in the Bio Info thread beside Character Count.

  11. Can I just interject at this point and remind everyone that there's not been a 3 character limit since last year?

The ONLY limit, is having 24 characters total across the entire PSW. If you want 24 Sisters, that's absolutely fine. It's been in the Rules and Guides for long enough. It was implemented following the Open Discussion with everyone.

  12. We could have the Amy insist if you like. She'll want to see the Sisters upholding their end of the bargain and getting used to the whole thing. Any other Sister would take their Warder so it could be taken as a slight if Jagen excluded Aslan.

Also, I'll wait until any other Sisters have posted. Give people a chance to "arrive". @Kathleen @Eqwina you both joining in too?

(hey, don't know what languages I can count on native English speaking Europeans being "quasi-polylinguistic" in like most Americans are; we all seem to know a handful of words in like a handful of languages LOL, but I figure everyone does know "gracias" right?/EndTangent).

Yeah. I think most of us will know what gracias means lol. Brits do like their Spanish holidays. Most European mainland countries tend to be at least bi-lingual by default because they're all fairly fluent English speakers on top of their native tongue. In the UK pretty much everyone's taken either French or German, at least up to 16 years/first set of exams. I also took Latin which gives me a kind of "recognise the root of the word and can surmise what the meaning is" understanding of the Latin based European languages.

I'm a (tie)dyed*-in-the-wool geek, so I definitely better know who River Song Alex Kingston is ? (but yeah, I also knew her back in her ER days as well).

I actually can't remember what I saw her in first, there was definitely something before she went to ER, but she will always be Moll Flanders to me. Don't know if you'd have seen that one but she starred as Moll alongside Daniel Craig and Keeley Hawes, 1996-ish iirc.

Owen Teale was a recurring character on Game of Thrones for a number of seasons, so I knew his name on sight

I have no idea why that escaped my mind, of course he was.

I didn't recognize the name Lindsay Davis, but when I looked up the imdb for the show I saw Lindsay Duncan's name, and she has been in just about everything ever made on telly from The LeftoversSherlockMerlin, Doctor Who, Rome, Spooks (aka MI-5 for my fellow Americans) to Black Mirror just to name the titles I have actually seen her in, or at least remember her in. She was exceptional on Rome as Servilia, but pretty much everyone on that show was exceptional, yet she did stand out. This scene (strong language warning kiddos!) stands out in my memory of her on Rome. She's a truly remarkable force to be reckoned with when it comes to acting over there in the UK, I would say. One of your artistic "national treasures," who I am surprised has not yet actually won a BAFTA.

Yes, Duncan... I have no idea how that became Davies.  And she's most definitely a national treasure. I rate her as much as Judi Dench, Maggie Smith and Helen Mirren. Which is the highest compliment I can give her.

I think I might add this show to my TBW list. Thanks for the info ?

Most welcome, if you do see it, let me know what you think.

Show away. I love seeing what crafty/maker thing people get up to.

It just occurred to me, it's been so long since I read a new Pern novel or story that I don't think I've even ever read one co-written by Todd McCaffreu.. [...] And when I go to read those new novels and short stories (if there are new short stories) I plan on rereading the entire series all over again as a refresher course.

I was wary when their collab was first made official but Todd's clearly been immersed in the universe all of his life. It's literally seamless. I didn't feel any disconnect in the newest novels that he was involved with or that he wrote alone.

What do you think of the adaptation to television of A Discovery of Witches so far?Is it worth watching for someone who has zero knowledge of the show or the books?

Yes, I think so. I've found it highly enjoyable so far. Largely due to the incredible casting. Matthew Goode (from Downton Abbey) and Teresa Palmer (an Australian who was unknown to me) have the most insane chemistry in the lead roles which was pretty vital to carry their relationship off. Owen Teale, Greg McHugh and Trevor Eve are all probably better known in Britain but any ER fans will certainly know Alex Kingston. Lindsay Davis is an icon of British TV. It's a typical BBC adaptation, top notch quality drama. Plenty of tension, lots of hints and teasers to keep you hooked and, as far as the vampires go, nothing like Twilight, thank the Lord. Sure there are some minor changes but you're always going to get that as we all know. None of them detract from the original Books in my opinion. I actually watched the TV series and then read the books and I was pleasantly surprised at how true it had stayed.
