A WHEEL OF TIME COMMUNITY

Audiobook Giveaway: The Fires of Heaven

Dwynwen

It's time for another audiobook giveaway! Here are the rules again for those who aren't familiar with our giveaways:

Macmillan Audio has partnered with us to bring you an amazing opportunity once again. We are going to give away free copies of each audiobook in the Wheel of Time series between now and when the final book is published.

On the first Wednesday of each month (and on the first and third Wednesdays of the month once we get to the final few books), I will post an audio clip for one of the audiobooks. The book featured in the clip will be the one we're giving away at the time.

As each clip is posted online, I will randomly select three winners to receive either a free digital audiobook download or a free CD. This contest is open to anybody world-wide, but non-US residents can only receive the digital download.

Entering to win is simple. Every time I post an audio clip, I will post a topic for discussion. Just post a response to the discussion question in the comments section of each news article. The winners will be randomly selected from the comments section exactly one week after I post the article.

There can be only one entry per person each time I put up an article. You cannot win more than once for this audiobook promotion.

If you are selected as a winner, I will PM you to notify you and request your contact information. Make sure to check your PMs, because if I still cannot reach you after two weeks from the date of my first PM, your prize will be given to another randomly drawn winner.

This month, we will be giving away a copy of The Fires of Heaven. Click here for a clip from the audiobook.

This month's question is: How many times have you read the Wheel of Time series? You have until Wednesday, July 11th to answer in the comments section. Note that even though I will not be back here until a few days after the 11th, I still will only count comments that were posted either before or on that date when I do the drawing. Good luck!

I have read the Wheel of Time series twice and enjoyed it just as well the second time around as I did the first.

Anticipating each new addition I would read all of those up to it to renew my memories and end by reading the newest as soon as it was published. I have read and reread the Wheel of Time Series at least 13 times.

Reading it third time(with Leigh Butler's commentary from her blog on TOR.com), considering I started Wheel of Time in early 2009, it's too many times.

Hard to say. I reread certain parts dozens of times. The more tedious parts of the Aes Sedai plotting, or, say, Egwene brushing her hair... those bits might get glossed over. There's also about 20 pages of tFoH where the print in my book cut off the bottom two lines, so I only read that part once at the library. Same for the part of CoT where there are like 50 pages that are bound upside down, and I feel stupid reading it in public.

I have read the series in sequence about 8 times as new books came out. Then in addition I have read the various books many more times out of sequence. I have long since lost count. I have to say, though, that I wish that Harriet had pushed James Rigney to tighten up some of the prose. The WOT is quite long...really good, but longer than it needs to be to some degree in my opinion. I am not sure that I have the time and energy to read them all through again in preparation for A Memory of Light.

I'm only on my second/third read-through. I read it once, then started listening to the audiobooks, and before I finished I also started reading some parts in another language. So I'm reading/listening to them both for the second and the third time.

I have read all 13 books in a row 2 times. The individual books have I read between 2 and 10 times. The earlier the book the more reads. The Eye of the World and The Great Hunt have I read 10 times. The Dragon Reborn 9 times and so on. Every time a new book came out I re-read them.

Been over the series twice. I kind of enjoy the fact that they are so long since that makes me stay in the story longer. I'm thrilled by the comming of the last book but sadenned as well since it means the wheel will have turned it's last revolution.

The series as a whole, I have re-read 7 times and I am now on my 8th, currently reading TFoH. Some of the books, such as LoC, EoTW, etc... I have read close to a dozen times or more. ^_^

I've read the entire series 4 times, but I've read The Eye of the World at least a dozen times. Plus, I always have one of the books on my iPod so I can listen to it all the time!

I started reading them in the mid '90s thru book 6 or 7, and have done a re-read with most most of the new releases since then, probably six, and have listened to the audio almost as many times. There are so many little details, that after a 2 year hiatus, doing a re-read is still interesting even after that many times.

I've read the series 6-8 times. I know when I first discovered it I read the books as I found them until I was caught up currently; then at least once more in order (I got some of the first 5 out of order initially); then a re-read before the release of each new book.

I've read the entire series 8 times all the way through as far as I could get at the time. So I've read EotW-WH 8 times, NS and CoT 7, KoD 6, TGS twice, and ToM once.
