I've always thought it would be wayyyy more exciting if your vote got locked permanently once made each day.

It would severely cut down post count, due to second guessing becoming largely irrelevant and it hugely ups the excitement factor.

Town will never win a game, or you will just have people not voting for four RL days.

Which brings me to another point I'm not going to make.

I mean I remember when the game was much more about night actions and wagonomics and all that stuff was way more important than "thread reads".

But like any game, it changed and developed. People found new ways of reading players (to a better deal of accuracy in some cases) and things changed progressively.

You can't tell NFL teams they need to run the ball 70% like they used to from now on because not everyone is a fan of passing.

The thing is, I think both methods can be just as successful as the other. I'd say night actions/wagonomics are just as valid as thread reads - just different. Both have worked well, and both have failed miserably. I will never believe one is strictly better than the other, but it really is a matter of style.

Just because new ways have been found, doesn't make them better ways (or worse).

I'm not saying otherwise - people play the way they are comfortable playing

But I want to throw and I want to throw it deep on every play and I don't want someone telling me that's invalid

You are so not a throw it deep player. You are a checkdown guy who also will effortlessly lob it for 60 when the D starts to shore up.

I think that some people have gotten upset lately about HOW people play when it comes to meta and it's caused a bit of negativity but that's not the point of this thread so I'm going to see my way out.

Not really. No one got upset on how it was used by someone else to develop reads. People got upset when meta was shoved down their throat when they don't use it as extensively themselves.

And there in lays the difference.

And the parties involved already talked it out. We be friends.

I want to make sure I'm clear. I'm not saying my way is the right way or anything like that. I'm simply saying that if I'm going to be able to successfully play a game (as in the whole game) posting levels have to be something I can manage to read. I have quite a bit of time to read each day. But games that hit 100 pages in a game day are just not doable for me, and I'd sub out because I can't keep up. It's not a matter of choice.

You guys do what you want. I don't want my problem to be the cause of rules being set. All I'm asking for is understanding.

I don't think anybody is saying a style is invalid, at least that I can see.

Thats fair. I dont think anyone here hasnt experienced a time when 20 pages a day even was too much for them to read and analyze

The amusing this is, and I know you'll understand as a fellow JN player, the way things used to be is that DM was too slow and JN was hyperactive (or so we thought).  Then the climate changed at DM and all of a sudden JN is the slow site, and DM is the hyperactive one (sometimes).

Funny how perceptions can shape reality sometimes.

More of a response to the "meta" thing than you personally.

I can keep up over there now.

I think we can all agree there should be no forum rules set. Encouraged, at most, but it should really be up to players to police themselves and maybe individual game mods when they want to cater to certain people.

But I'm just here so I don't get fined.

I agree.  I'm not setting DM Mafia board rules for this stuff.  People will try to limit their post count, or they won't.  It is their prerogative, and that's cool.

100% percent.

But I think it would be really cool to have a couple "post count restriction" games run. Obviously this would be by moderator choice.

Another pointless thread, that accomplished nothing.

Not sure if you mean this one or every game of mafia ever.

I meant the "State of Mafia" threads. I understand them in principle. But, I think they do the opposite of their intended purpose.
