I'm not. I'm talking about my pov, which I'll admit is nothing right now because I haven't paid any attention to thane so far, and I'm on my phone so not even going to attempt a re-read ATM.

Tab, I haven't dug into this discussion yet.  Fill me in in the meantime.  What do you think was said to Hallia that she, if scum, will use to her advantage in this game?

Any of those posts saying she plays a certain way, so she could try and do the opposite.

Convince me that this is a serious opinion.

Alright. I've at least read everything now. From where I stand I think Corlanna, Sili, Shad and Zander are my villagers. Everyone else I'm not sure of at the moment.

I still believe Thane is a viable option for wolf, both for whining about my vote, but also for a number of posts where he posts for the sake of posting, meaning there's not much substance there. My vote is going nowhere yet until I see a clearer suspect.

What do you think of this post coming from Thane?

Posted

Lots of people seem to be sold on Corlanna as town. Why?

Cory had a couple posts to sili that were pretty convincing that I referenced earlier, in terms of tone, and the fact I think he would genuinely feel that way.

The context he could fake, but he sound very genuinely ...irritated? With sili.

I wouldnt go as far as to say I'm convinced. More of just playing the odds. The good news is, if I'm wrong, I'll be dead before it matters.

Sold is maybe a strong word?

Outside of the fact there isn't anything scummy? It's just easier.

Corlanna [ditto Clov, fwiw] isn't going to be a Day 1 lynch. Too valuable to mislynch if Town - too wily to catch Day 1 if wolf. So they go into my "start reading on day 2" pile ~always. But that's just me.

Well stated.

But...

I didn't see anything there he wouldn't or at least *couldn't* fake as wolf. Did you see something I'm missing?

Shad...i feel like we havent talked much!!!

whats up buddy!!!

thoughts thus far?

So I have you Sili Yates and Thane as my main D1 town crew at the moment.  Seems like a majority would say I'm wrong on at least one of those but I don't think I'll be switching my stance any time soon.  I've been holding back on who I'm actually suspicious of so far and that's mostly to do with the long deadline.  I'm hoping a majority of Dice, Rack, Hallia, BFG, and Sooh share some thoughts in the near future and we can kick this up a notch.  I'll offer more robust general thoughts when I'm ready to.

i actually am a fan of you town reads thus far brother!!!

im kinda been wondering on Dice.  i havent seen that IM TOWN!DICE in your face post yet.

can you touch on Dice for me?

Honestly Is not wanting players to be able to apply meta to you ever a pro-town thing?

If you lynch me on the basis of wanting to play with some openly stated anonymity, you will find a dead townie as a result.

I'm sorry, I don't believe it's necessary. My general level of experience and that I am playing under a pseudonym is freely volunteered meta information as it is game relevant. Exactly who I am is private, and that is my final word on the matter. With respect and love for my fellow players. :)

I'm nice person. Give me a chance to just be me without meta entanglements. It's all I want.

:)

I have no problem letting you be you, bit you can't possibly expect anyone to put stock into a meta "defense" (quotes because you weren't necessarily defending her, as much as avoiding persecuting her) you are providing when you are deliberately avoiding identifying yourself.

It's exceptionally easy for mafia to say "<person> looks like their town self", and looking good with a town flip. When you only know them from offsite we have no way of knowing if your statement is valid

Even easier would be for a mafioso to simply reveal their identity, so as to make plain the truth of the statement. Many of you know Sooh from previous games. If I were telling pork pies, your own natives would be able to contradict me. I trust this group to be able to work it out- it's not particularly wise for a scum Nomi to defend a scum Sooh in this manner. The link becomes obvious and without the evidence of saying where I'm from and citing example, it's not as strong. And all this can be avoided simply by saying more about me. This is the problem of relying on meta. I have my reasons, and revealed to the game host who I am so as to maintain game integrity. But your reliance on meta has caused you to overlook the obvious, here. It's more harmful than helpful to rely on it, as your reasoning falls apart under its own logic. There's nothing at all to be gained by saying a mistruth about knowing Sili from previous games without it being true, especially if I'm not willing to back up such a statement. There's no there, there. So to speak. But a combination of normal distrust (its a mafia game) and reliance on meta has led you to an unreasonable position. All I ask is that you take a look at it with an objective eye, and you'll form the right conclusions.

One has little to do with the other- I can absolutely be mafia. But not for such a reason. Judge me on my merits this game, don't rely on histories.

If I have nefarious aims for saying this or that about certain players, the link is still there, openly, regardless of the truth about my meta. Knowing exactly what it is doesn't change that fact. So you're missing nothing that enables you to solve it. It's a quite reasonable position to say, that's sufficient data. As a fellow mafia player, you can solve the game based on that, you need no more.

I trust this settles this unimportant matter.

Carry on.

I absolutely dont get where you're coming from on this Thane push.  Hes obv not Lock Clear but hes pretty towny imo.

Was kind of hoping that less strong players would answer that but I'm pretty much exactly where Yates is here.

More like Ryan Mallett. You've had excellent coaching in your life. But you are too troubled and drunk to reach your full potential.

I dunno if you wanted me opinion Shad, but I'm not sold on Corlanna. He might just be busy, but he hasn't gone Cory ham on the game yet and until he does his usual thing I'm gonna be wary of him. He's tricked old Len one to many times for me to just clear him.

Hm. I think I missed reading his spoiler the first time around. You're right. There is a bunch in there. I really need to ISO him and make my mind up about him.

Any of those posts saying she plays a certain way, so she could try and do the opposite.

Convince me that this is a serious opinion.

For example, Cory said "She's not typically high volume but when she's really low on the spectrum it's usually a bad sign". So she could, perhaps, be more active.

Yates said: "Sadly yes. She will go long periods of time without saying a lot. Then post fluff if she isn't engaged in a game. But early on? She will typically play a little harder - and often hard enough to get an early Town read on. When she stays quiet I get concerned." So again, she could be more active.

Laine said: "When it comes to Hallehhh I just measure fluff to content. If fluff outweighs content, and she's hiding a bunch, she probably needs some pressure". So she could add more content and watch the fluff.

Clov said: "Whoever asked about Hallia - shes been less active her past few games, and was mafia in a couple, but she wasn't overly active in a town game. My key with her isn't the number of posts but how she's using them. Town Hallia is usually (slighty) more forthcoming with reads and some sort of justification." So maybe she can try and be more forthcoming with reads.
