I think this makes sense, actually.

 

It's kind of like Town is a neutral party in this set up, if there are four killing factions. If one of the factions manages to get Town to vote with them, then it would almost be like Town = survivor role until only one of the Mafia functions is remaining.

1. It's unclear if Town has a killing role.
If Town has no killing roles, Town is only a threat during the day, when the killing factions can be lynched.

2. The other factions can kill each other at night.

It is best for them to eliminate each other so that during the day they don't have to worry about other factions trying to bandwagon them.

3. Once all other factions die off, one faction may then decide to eliminate Town.

 

This seems like the best strategy for any of the killing factions.

Think about it. How do you play this as scum?

 

It speaks to what wish was saying about survivors. Town has votes but, I'm assuming, no guns. So we are toothless at night. The other factions, however, ALL have guns. We are starting to weed through the interactions at this point and starting to make sense of who is likely on which team. Scum have even MORE information because they don't need to weed through their own teammates' interactions. So it's getting to the point where Hungarians know who Usual Suspects are know who Cops are. None of these factions can win without Town help in lynching the other team or they all shoot themselves down to parity.

 

In other words, Town has to be lower priority than other factions by necessity.

Could be. You could also consider the possibilities:

 

A. Yates is a member of one of the factions, and wants to confirm town in order to pocket them and make sure they vote along with him.

 

B. Yates is a townie and wants to survive.

 

C. Yates is a member of one of the factions, and wants to confirm town in order to eliminate them.

Guess it depends on who is on each team. AJ would be a long term strategy guy. Ditto Clov [obviously given the bus]. I think NolDerf falls into this category as well. Ditto Wombat.
