Let's think of the story this way

 

AJ and Seph are two solid relief pitchers competing for a closing spot on a championship level team

 

Last game Seph got the save opportunity after AJ had a 1-2-3 eighth and blew a 1-run game and his team lost

 

The media castigates him and spurned the front office into action; they decided that AJ should be named new closer

 

So this game it's the top of the ninth and we're up 3 runs and AJ comes in for the save opportunity and he just gets ROCKED

 

Yates knocks a grand slam into the bleachers and suddenly we're losing and AJ is pulled

 

Twitter goes on fire screaming for the outright release of an otherwise solid reliever

 

However the team comes back in the bottom of the ninth, scoring 2, and wouldn't you know? Seph is called in to close out the game. He's still a little shook from the last blown save....

 

But he composes himself and takes the game.

 

The media lets up on AJ and celebrates.
