It looks like a Wheel of Time Game that could be played at Bel Tine or at the Tower.

Is it sad that I know every single person in those pictures?

Well obviously not personally, but I know who they are!

Is the "bat" used to defend as well as hit?

Actually, you are defending your wickets (those are the 3 upright pieces of "wood" behind the batsman) by hitting the ball with your bat.

You can also nudge the ball away with your pads (leg protectors) but be careful not to be given out LBW. That's Leg Before Wicket.

The umpire may rule a batsman out lbw if the ball would have struck the wicket but was intercepted by any part of the batsman's body except the hand holding his bat. The umpire's decision will depend on a number of criteria, including where the ball pitched, whether the ball hit in line with the wickets and whether the batsman was offering a shot.

 Possibly,

but it is also awesome, because Cricket is a great game.

I was going to explain, but seems like you got things sorted!

Although technically Australia has things sorted, not South Africa. image.png

im gonna find a game on Youtube and watch it. Hopefully the Australian players won't be squeezed or poisoned by snakes or bitten by giant spiders.

The Simplified Rules of Cricket.

1. There are two teams. One out, one in.

2. The team that's out try to get the player that's in, out.

3. When they do get him out, he goes in.

4. Then the next player goes out. As long as he's out, he's in.

5. The object is then for the team that's out to get the second player out. When they get him out, he goes in.

6. This process is repeated for each innings until the team that's out gets the team that's in all out.

7. When the whole team is out, the team that was in goes out, and the team that was out goes in.

8. Then they play a second innings until they're all out. Except one player. He remains not out.

Although looking at it, that is not completely correct - I should have checked it before I copied it sorry.

At the end of the game there will always be one man from each team who was not out when it was their turn to be in. Its impossible for every one to be out, even if the team is no longer in, but going out.

There, that should be nice and clear now! :p
