@ Cass - First of all, thank you for clarifying. I figured I was misunderstanding something about your question, because I read it as "Your case makes sense but why did you feel you had to mention it?" which obviously was weird to me. Of course I'm going to point out something scummy if I see it.

I was annoyed with Hallia's attitude. That's why I said if she is town, then her comments were in really poor taste. Objectively speaking outside of whatever her alignment is, I can't stand it when people who weren't around for the lynch (specifically on Day 1, when we are most likely to mislynch) come in after and criticize the lynch. Then it became clear she was around and apparently just kind of let the lynch happen, but still came on to criticize us for it. So yeah, that annoys me, and yes, I was probably defensive about it.

The thing is, getting defensive doesn't make me scum. Pral said it's not like me to get defensive, and in that he is right - because I usually work very hard not to appear defensive in a mafia game, and you know why? Because people jump on it, and it gets you lynched. But I'm naturally an emotional person. My kneejerk reaction to criticism or suspicion thrown my way is to get defensive and emotional, and even to take it a little personally. Which is why I usually take a step back and think a lot about what I want to say before posting a response. Because I know it's not really personal, it's just the game.

That said, yeah, occasionally you will see me get defensive. All I can say is, I don't believe it's indicative of my alignment. It just indicates I was in kind of a bad mood at the time and fired from the hip without taking my usual step back and thinking about how to respond first.

You've explained your reasons for pushing the point about her comments/actions really well and you make perfectly good points. And then you downplay it with 'maybe I am making too big a deal about this' and mention you were annoyed (suggestive of OMGUS, to me). I just don't see why you would mention it when you otherwise sound confident and have demonstrated a clear case.

It might have sounded like downplaying; that wasn't my intention. I like to keep an open mind for all possibilities when I scumhunt. You will see me make a lot of statements like "This looks like this, but maybe it could be this." And I'm aware it can look like I'm hedging a lot, but that's just how I scumhunt. On top of that, in issues where I get emotional, I'm aware that I might be taking something out of hand (like, is Hallia really as scummy to me as she appears, or is my annoyance about her attitude there clouding my judgment?) That's why I asked for other people's thoughts.

I'm aware that a lot of what I'm telling you here is just my meta, and that you can't really just take my word for any of it. But that's the explanation I have for you, so.

Oh, and re: Lily voting Wombat, I will look at it and get back to you later. Heading out now, I won't be available even through mobile for the next 3-4 hours.

You keep saying it and I keep will keep arguing it.

I was around. I was posting. I'm annoyed that you guys lynched a claimed vig but we carry on.

Also, I did not "let the lynch happen." I am not the other players' keepers to literally make them vote whomever. All I can do is try to provide a better alternative, which I did.

Final Vote Count

Sili (6): Wombat, Not Bob, Alanna, Cass, Nol, Lily

This is my lynch pool. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

My lynch pool is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.

My lynch pool, without me, is useless. Without my lynch pool, I am useless.

The ones that have twinged my scumdar so far on this list are NotBob and Lily. Both aren't very strong reasons, but that's where I'm leaning.

What were your reasons for Lily and NotBob?

My reason for notbob was mostly gut. Although since then he has voted someone with seemingly no reason. I'd happily move my vote to him. I think he's scum.

My reason for Lily was the vote near EoD. I have since retracted that, but she hasn't done anything to give me a town vibe. She's null.

@Alanna. I got my facts mixed up. You were agreeing with Yates to wait on voting wombat until we heard from other people, not with Verb's reasoning. I was juggling both thoughts in my head when I voted wombat.

Posted

My reads so far.

Yates and pral town. (I believe the mason claim)

Verb is coming off as town to me

Alanna slight town lean. My trigger reason is the only thing keeping her there atm

Not bob scum. Wombat scum lean

Everyone else is null.

Really?  I suggest stuff like that all the time.  I'm not saying he's confirmed town or anything, but I'm saying I don't have a scum read on him as a result of my assumption.  If further evidence points to the contrary, I'll revise my assumption.

What a garbage hedge.

I'm curious, what 'something new' did you learn about Sili this game, if learning about how to read him is something you were actively trying to do? I didn't get the vibe that that's what you were doing.

Essentially, I have no problem with you not changing your vote if you were certain, but the fact that you voted him as early as you did is concerning, especially when you contrast that action here, after his flip, with your assertion that you find him hard to read.

Would you say you found Sili hard to read this game? Or that you simply got him wrong?

Gah. I'm tired and your contradictions are hurting my head.

I learned that Sili literally cannot towntell to save his life and that he can react with apathy in situations where I don't expect it.  In the past, he's always said at least some things that I can understand and/or agree with.  I voted him early on a lark.  Then I kept my vote there when he started scumming it up all over the thread. Before Sili's flip, I would not have said I found him hard to read this game.  Afterwards, it has become quite obvious that I did.

Best lynch imo.  Choo choo.

Do you have specific reasons?

Yes.  I already told them to Hally.  In addition, I'm starting to agree with Alanna's assessment of Hally's EoD.

Anyone know of a good potato based Vodka? It's the only kind I'm allowed to bring into the office next week.

How did I not see this??

Chopin. Polish Potato Vodka? What? That's right. It's the boss.

Ummm, Aren't all vodka potato based?

No, but they should be.

Which I don't think any were actual reasons. When asked for, you said "I don't case D1"

You were around for this lynch that you allegedly hated, yet all you did was complain about it way after it could have realistically been avoided.

I don't care what you think about my reasons.

I haven't made a single case yet this game.  Neither has anyone else.  Anyone who thinks otherwise has no idea what a case is.

Two words: Tall Blond

Best. Vodka. Ever.

We had a blind taste test and figured I was a shoe in with my Chopin? That Tall Blond WRECKED. Smooth. Slightly sweet. Kind of REFRESHING? Just insanely good.

Well I don't get a lot of the arguments you make as town either, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.  Different perspectives are good.  In my opinion, a true case usually has either one highly developed logical argument or a lot of smaller ones.  I don't usually make or see those until we have some flips to work with.  I think of D1 as mostly probing for reactions and developing reads.

For people who haven't read the thread.

Where are we at today? Can anyone point out to me exactly why I need to follow the Wombat train? I'm wary of him, but as of right now I have not much more than feels to go by, and I think that's rather thin...
