With the same player base you basically can't stop this from happening unless you run nothing but gimmick games.

I mean rand is already a brick wall that decides plenty of things. What are you proposing is done? Or are you saying townies in the future should intentionally play worse to make games fairer?

Considering the high % of wolf faction wins I think villagers need basically every advantage they can get

 

But playing a very personalized game is a play-style choice; it's not like someone like me knows how to play differently

 

I mean, there's no real reason why a player cannot replicate their villager game as scum - it's just words

 

Isn't the point to read people? What's the difference between using tells you believe are universal or tells that are player-based that you think are right?

This just seems to be more of a problem that develops in any community that has a stagnant player base and a lot of people who know each other well

There's nothing that technically keeps people from not changing from game to game. Look at Tommy - I've probably played more games with him as anyone and I still don't read him well because he frequently mixes up his game.

I agree with this. A lot of times when I roll town and rather maybe do less ISO and go more with real time comments... I'm basically worried people are gonna misread me if I'm not doing my usual shtick. So I feel constantly pressured to dish out ISOs as either alignments. Which makes things kind of a drag for me.... then again I try to play the same as both scum and town so I guess it kinda comes with the territory. But yeah, I've found that meta adjustments are nearly impossible... or at least that's how it feels. And when you do something that you've never done before, it's usually construed as a negative thing. So I often feel trapped in my own meta.

I adjust my meta all the time.  You just have to be able to handle any heat you might get.
