Clov I think your personality morphs toward whatever people don't want you to be at any given moment

Sure, but what are your thoughts on my MB results?

Considering that extrovert basically is "I get my energy through human interaction and lose it during time alone" and introvert is "I get my energy through time alone and lose it during human interaction" I'm surprised you don't trend more I

I just reread my result and am still surprised at how accurate it is.  Good test :).

It's one of the foundational personality tests for all behavioral psychology.

I retook the test (good to do every so often, especially when younger) and got ESTP, first time I've ever gotten an S.  That was...different.

"Condescending", "mocking", and "berating" are all human interactions.

The whole idea of extroversion–introversion is pretty dated.  I tend to think of myself as really extroverted but I always score introvert on tests like these.

The way people understand them is wrong.  It's like the huge misconception of Freudian sexuality prevalent in our society.

Introvert/extravert is not necessarily whether you enjoy spending time with people, but more of whether being around people energizes you or exhausts you.

I'm really friendly, and hang out with friends all the time, but I also really wear down if I don't get some quality me time.

Like I'm loud and outgoing and have no problem with people but I need to be able to recharge by myself or I'll get worn out

You are losing energy but it doesn't mean you don't enjoy spending that energy with people you enjoy

I actually thinking working a job where I do client-side work has made me trend more I because it's made human interaction more tiring and if I had a more self-contained job I might trend more E

Though that's really the only place where my personality shifts

Again I think the "northerners trend more I" Tom brought up eons ago probably is a decent deal

Perhaps a misunderstanding.  The description for INTP certainly seemed spot on, and I do find being around people absolutely exhausting.  But at the same time I kind of fiend to interact with people as much as possible.  If I can't be actively involved in a conversation online I become pretty uneasy, and I generally get bored with any activity that doesn't involve engaging others.  It's taken me a year and a half to read through WoT and I'm only on book 6, for instance, because I only pick up a book if I've exhausted every forum/chat room I frequent.  Even then, I read a book so that I can eventually discuss its content, not because I enjoy the immediate experience of reading much.  I never watch tv or play single-player games.

I'd like to think that the difference is a gap in reaction time.  I put a lot of thought into what I say, and that doesn't fly for a verbal conversation if I'm not well informed on the subject, but text communication grants sufficient pause to eliminate that factor.  I'll engage someone on irc all day and find it energizing, but good luck dragging me into a voip chat environment.  So while the result might say something about how I think, its measure of my reaction to social interaction is kind of limited.

Have you guys ever heard about the four basic temperaments? Many consider these to be split up versions of those
