Wut?  You're asking baseline questions at night about the same group of people who've been largely talked about the past 84 pages.  If you don't know the answers to them already you haven't been reading.

 

 

When Tommy flipped town, that changed a lot of my reads, including yours, but not by much.  You should always be scumhunting, day or night.

Honestly, I prob have a higher scum read on Tsuki, who looks terrible imo (going for lynchbait, not as aggressive as normal, overuse of memes to try and fit in)

 

But RTE is def the better lynch for today. His OP def wasn't good, and neither was his response to a couple of votes, but more importantly he can also potentially give us some more info on everyone else. For instance, if he flips town, then I think Vos will need to be looked at more closely. If he flips scum, then we can look closer at Wombat and Cory, who both kinda soft defended him.

 

And, not to be harsh, but as others have pointed out, RTE DOES usually look pretty wolfy as town. If he IS town this game, I'd rather remove the distraction then leave a good mislynch for scum to use later on.

Also, Dawn trying to determine how good Cory's defense is, is hilarious. The phrase "too big for her britches" comes to mind.

This has me slightly worried Red is actually derp to the derp squared town and not scumbuddies with Tommy, for reasons that aren't extremely easy to put into words. She parrots the thing about Cory being able to soulread Tommy well, but it IS a good point, so while it could be distancing.... eh.

 

Then she also says RTE is MIA, when no one else had really mentioned him in a while (oh btw, after a moar recent post of RTE's, I have him as scum as well, or rather again, or w/e)

 

Red COULD be going for over the top distancing however, so meh going back to locking her in as scum

RTE is total scum and read looks way better than you're giving her credit for.  Do you not remember how rusty she is and how she has behaved the past few games?  Her and Mynd are still not quite used to the new DM style and so don't play to the logical overdrive that we do yet.  Keep that in mind and see how it affects your read of her.

 

 

This is a good point and one I had already kinda had in the back of my head. I think DM has changed A LOT since when those two used to play a lot more.

 

Main thing is tho how Red is handling her "scumread" of Tommy. Sets him up for a thunderdome with me (saying we should be competing trains), but then agrees with him immediately after...

 

To me that looked fairly obvious like her trying to distance from Tommy. But eh, I could be wrong. It is technically possible

For me to believe that what Cory did was a mistake (I mean not being willing to adjust his read on you, not suiciding, that was an obvious mistake), I'd have to think that you were town. I don't, so this just seems like more AtE to me.

I try to cultivate a common meta as town and mafia (it improves my mafia game, and game overall)

Petty but a thing I do.

I like to try keep myself in check so I can be a better player overall

 

It helps hide me regardless of alignment or PR, so far it seems to work

 

 

I don't think that's petty- in fact to me it's plain and simple common sense to try and make your scum and town metas as similar as possible.

 

In general, I play mafia like the Spurs play basketball- I try and remove as many competitive disadvantages as possible. If your opponent has a harder time using meta against you, it's better in the long run (for both alignments- since that way scum can't try to lead a mislynch on you if you seem to be on your "scum meta")

I asked Hoof for a replacement. I SERIOUSLY hate doing that, I think I have subbed out ONE other time ever, but this is just too much for me. I legit OWNED the scum team yesterday, but they're just laughing me off and calling me bad at mafia and everyone else seems to be buying it.

 

I feel it's going to be the Red Wedding all over again, and I for one am NOT seeing that kind of train wreck unfold before my eyes again. That and the events from earlier.... yeah this game lost any bit of possibility of being fun for me.

Despo has been irking me a little

 

So this is my case on despo, still not sure whether I'm leaning mafia or town on him but hopefully by the end of this ill have a better read. I think I'm leaning more towards mafia or else my spidey senses wouldn't be tingling.

So des starts the game with his video but also a "hard claim" of villager and nilla.

It's early in the placement of all the claims (we are still on the first page at this point) so I never read into it at the time.

Keeping it in mind for this read through though

 

He interacts with Cory pretty early on in a rather friendly manner. I don't know Cory, I think he started just as I left, but I get the feeling he is a friend from another site or something.

More interesting is how he votes for Nyn and follows wombat in that, but still pokes Corey. I'm pretty sure I'm just reading overly into that at this point tho.

 

Now Darthe arrives, in his OP he says he vigged des. Little connection there, nothing major. Next he votes RTE and that begins that.

Well then. That was an interesting catch up. Overall I'm generally happy that the game is picking up, not happy to see EmoCory resurfacing somewhat

 

 

Regardless, this is still a mafia game, and there's still a lot of other players involved in this besides just Cory, so I would recommend anyone that has the urge to thunderdome with Cory to let off for a bit, and wait and see if this emo is legit or fake. I REALLY don't wanna see this game go through any kind of blech that causes people's WIM to go down (since I'm the only one who can still be awesome effective even when my WIM is low).

Also, Darthe looks surprisingly townie to me this game. Casually references our rivalry in what looks like a genuine manner, and the mindmeld on a couple of other things speak well in his favor as well.

It's also a known part of my meta that I have given people light villager leans for being willing to go @ me early and you are a talented and self-aware enough player to attempt to abuse something like this

Also, people seem to be taking RTE's OP out of context and I think that's why the votes on him started. It's null imo. His reaction to the pressure has been kinda crappy imo, but that

's also kinda null for me atm as RTE is pretty scummy and flippant every time I see him play. Kind of like a more spastic Lenlo.

 

Uhm, OP analysis by it's very nature is taking something out of context somewhat to see how genuine it looks. I mean, you consider context to some degree at times, but you're still focusing on a single post, not looking at a player in aggregate.

Ping # dos on Wombat. Had an early "joke" vote on Nyn before she showed up (that I blindly followed of course, because reasons), then later asks Cory what he thinks of Nyn.

 

Smells of that "fabricate a scum 'read' on someone after you've already voted them" that scum occasionally fall for. Would surprise me to see Wombat commit such a flub, but eh no one's perfect.

Nyn I can't really judge until the game has more meat, she's doing nothing "villagery" for her up to this point but I've seen her have slow starts as a villager before (HH) and she's someone who i think likes to ramp up when her confidence increases

Benjamin Floyd was not afraid. Through the horror, the darkness, the terror and insanity of this night, he was coping better than any of them. He was angered that his brother's head had appeared n his plate, mournful at his loss, and desired vengeance over all else, but he was not afraid, for himself or anyone. He should be. He simply wasn't capable, not any more. He had given up fear years ago, traded his ability to feel it to some blasphemous entity in return for the forbidden Book of the Yellow Sign. It had seemed like more than a fair trade. But what was a human without fear? Not a brave man, but a man truly without fear. Perhaps, if Floyd could feel fear he would of been scared of what he had become, scared of the powers her dabbled in, scared of the god that he had sworn his allegiance to. Perhaps.

 

After Flemming had been killed, Tallow had ordered them into rooms. "VERY GOOD. NOW, GET OUT OF THE HALLWAYS AND CORRIDORS! I HAVE SET MY PETS LOOSE, AND THEY ARE.... HUNGRY! HAHAHAHA!"

 

No sooner had the last investigator closed the last door than an ungodly howling burst out, clamouring from seemingly all directions. The corridors rang with monstrous growls, hoots and roars. Interestingly, the rooms had interconnecting doors, an impossible network of them that seemed to reach every room. While the others cowered in their rooms, the Cult of the Yellow Sign plotted. Finally, they sent Floyd out into the hallways to investigate, and see what these creatures were. It was penance, they said, for daring to utter the Unspeakable One's name thrice. Fearless as always, Floyd obeyed. He left the room, entering the demoniacal cacophony. He didn't return.

 

 

Several hours later, the cacophony stopped, and tentatively, the investigators opened their doors, and resumed their search of the mansion. They found two things, one terrible, and one ominous. The first, was Luke Quarter, alone in a room, huddled in a corner. She had been that way for hours, and when someone checked her they found they found her throat slit. The second discovery was much less gruesome- a pair of clothes, in a ruffled pile, in the middle of a hallway. After a count, they determined that the clothes belonged to Floyd. No trace of him was ever found.

Overall, a pretty decent N1 result.  If we were going to lose a townie, Darthe's death gives us a lot of info to Cthu on.  Maybe Lenlo didn't read the signs regarding Darthe.

 

I now feel pretty good about RTE & Red as well.  I'm curious to see how people vote today.  I'm willing to bet that the scum team were SHOCKED at losing Lenlo last night.
