It was Dap's birthday over the weekend which explains why he wasn't here.  I had an all-day wedding and an epic game of Settlers of Catan which is why I wasn't here.  I'm back and participating and Dap is rereading and getting his thoughts in order.  He'll post relatively soon I should think.

I had a lot about HALLIA in my recap; her initial push of Straw Hats felt natural, and she got sniped constantly in a very non-bus manner by Amega and Thane (who was mostly unable to hide a good deal of his true thoughts).

 

Dap had good tone early, but he's probably closer to null than null leaning town. Both have been unmemorable overall, but I remember liking their overall attitudes early (very devil-may-care, which tends to be townie more than not when natural)

It read as gimmicky like one of them was perpetuating the argument. and I also didn't pay attention to the sign up thread so I'm not sure of what joke they were referring to so not a fair judge there.

Wish you'd of had those feelings while we spammed the game thread while it was day but your change of heart is enlightening.

 

If I argued people over arguments id be on Despo non stop, as he has constantly been on me, so I don't really get where you are coming from with that. I read reactions and overall arguments. So not sure that's a fair assumption.

Turin/Ithi: most townie of the group ATM

Lee/Tina: also have a heavy town lean here

 

Hallia/X: Null read. Only thing I found scummy was the town vs town comment.

 

Dap/Krak: Null, both need to post more

 

Verb/Despo: I'd feel really town about them accept for Lenlo's post

 

Cory: Scum lean, first he was fence sitting on Ameg/Thane (thane was scummy, but that was just him being new Ameg's play made him feel like they were townies) making it easy for him to flip to the next argument. He then had it set up after Lily and I die, whether we flip town or mafia he was going to go for Ithi/Turin. After I pointed that out he did a complete flip on what he thought they were. He also accused me of doing the exact same things he attempted to do.

 

Lenlo/rte: null leaning Scum read, the whole perceived calling out those going for verb and des. Town vs town comment.

 

J-Tag: scum Read the whole love fest between straw hats and them. Where they have each other in their reads and the interplay. J-tag never really went after straw hats.

 

Clarthe: Null to Scum read: the post I quoted raised my eyebrows and darthe was way to eager to push a bussing angle hot out the gate.

You are lying when I said "I set up Lily/You as the lynch after Amega died" - you also hint here you know what Amega would flip as, your millionth slip - I pursued your lynch heavily throughout the phase.

 

If you can't follow my narrative on why the Amega flip makes WiFuM look incredibly town, it's your frickin' fault for not actually reading posts. To imply it's because of something you said is beyond laughable.

You have yet to elaborate once on ANYTHING I HAVE DONE, you have only hid behind weasel statements like "he's talking in circles" (I am not) or "he's accusing me of x when he did it himself" (I have not, in fact this is precisely what YOU are doing).

 

I don't understand how anybody playing this game with a functioning brain cannot see through you - you're transparency and inability to form a cohesive argument and train of thought is embarrassing and I'm seriously embarrassed for you. Super thrilled about the Amega flip but it's a sin you were allowed to live last phase. I get that I'm an outsider here but the resistance to rational thought is absurd. There's 55 pages of interactions here that are golden that nobody besides me has made any real attempt to go through (though apparently Jack ISO'd Pral, so I'll reread that and give Jack some credit if it had any merit), and besides Despot and some middle-frame AJ posts I haven't been able to follow the mindset of any player in this game as if they are obfuscating themselves willfully. I can follow players on 2+2, perhaps the most AIDS-y forum known to man, but here you guys laugh in the face of your own credibility.

 

And you all get on my case for saying the word "alliance" and making jokes like "lock clear" - the ratio of hypersensitivity to certain actions and complete dismissal of logic in favor of Meta reads I simply don't understand absolutely baffles me. I'm trying to adapt willfully here, but with everyone besides Despot and Verbal it's in-one-ear-out-the-other.

Slot01 : WiFuM (Ithi, Turin):  Town as town can be, lol

Slot02 : YoloHashSwag (Despo, Verbal) Question for you now... Were you fibbing about us being town or were you fibbing about us being mafia yesterday? 

 

Slot03 : J-TAG (AJ, TG) defended SH pretty hard. did not have a vote placed at end of day. Don't like either of those two things

 

Slot04 : PFG (Pralaya, BFG) Pral, in your early post when the trains were WiFuM, Verbathera and SH you stated that you understood why SH were getting voted. As the day went on and they stayed in the spotlight you switched your opinion to they were being run up because they were new. Why did  you change your stance on them? Also get out the BFG signal.  

 

Slot05 : Release the Leno (RTE, Lenlo) they are a big question mark. If there should actually be a third party in this game I think they are the top candidate.

 

Slot06 : Sexy Sisters (Tina, Leelou) move from >rand maf to null. Like that they left their vote on SH even after the claim. some of the reads were off to me but meh. 

 

Slot07 : CRUNK (Monk, CoryCurren) His posts before SH got lynched were very well crafted. I am now thinking too well crafted. the evolving narrative of how SH went from obvscum that everyone and their brothers were bussing to misunderstood and more likely town. Especially the post from Thane that he used to say he felt better about them at that point. iirc it was one of the posts that most everyone else thought was making the team look more and more maf. He worked very hard to flip the lynch onto either ES of WiFuM. And now that the thread has pretty much made the case against us impossible he is concentrating hard on ES. This is one of the things giving me a more null read on ES. But I am a conspiracy theorist. Heck I nearly talked myself out of voting someone after I viewed them as Lord Voldemort in the HP game. Not sure if he is trying to bus ES or putting them up as the obvious lynch for tomorrow. Also don't like how he is building Verb/Despo into the town savior.  

 

Slot08 : Spliffanity (Krak, Dap) Still not really enough for me to go on. Birthday is over Dap get to work. 

 

 

Slot09 : Clarthe (Cloud, Darthe) Mixed and therefore null. 

 

Slot10 : Evil Siblings (Lily, Jack) Either desperate mafia or truly town BG. I am starting to have some doubts about their sure mafianess. I still sort of wish they would just get killed tonight so we would know one way or the other. If they managed to take out a mafia with that would be great too.
 

Slot11 : Straw Hats (Amega, Thane) : Saren : Alien : Lynched D1

 

Slot12 : HaXorz (Hally, Xthrax): probably my most town read at this time. Hallia was on the Amega/Thane train right away even though she caught a little heat for it and she did take the stand to say that the WiFuM/ #swag battle was town on town. Even if she is wrong about that (possible but less likely) her overall play has been more town. Now to only get her more involved and to get X back in the game from his understandable hiatus.

And I didn't mean that as a direct criticism of players - you're all diamonds that glow in your own way - but I don't understand how you guys argue when you barely make arguments. You argue each other's metas - what am I supposed to do with that? I couldn't get Tom to Hydra with me and Monk abandoned the game after a few pages. I'll battle it out with respect to the mod and the work he's put in and because that's the kind of player I am, but I expect more from the high content level. It's embarrassing that I can go over a scum flip and only see ~2 teams that look remotely good because of it.

 

For the most part, I've smiled at the frequent resistance, but it's enough for me to deal with people telling me I make out of game alliances or don't play the game the correct way. I am particularly proud of my townplay as a Mafia player, but it's immensely frustrating when the environment is non-conductive.

I hear this every game because I play passionately. I have been wrong before and I'll be wrong again and I'm not afraid to be so - I think I am remotely competent, but I do stumble in an environment non-conductive and resistant and with players who are allowed to lie over and over again and do not get called out for it.

WiFum: Town.  Ithi is mostly commenting in thread without follow-up and pushing but is pointing out plenty of interesting tidbits and turin is legit all game.  #320 Ithi points out Lily and Amega in QT together, Turin is going at Jack at just the right level like town should, dislike turin going at cory because it is too emotion and looks like either going after despo via projecting or chainsaw defending ES

 

YOLO: Scum.  What is most interesting here is how synchronous the early game distancing between lily/jack, thane/amega and desp/verb.  For instance, post #630 where Despo says that ES are obvscum but "let's lynch somewhere else" and spends the rest of the time trying to divert away from SH.  And how in relation SH found YOLO scummy, then null, the town.  Early distancing turned to trying to play as a team to achieve a lynch. 

The real lulz of post #630 is when Des, in back to back sentences, pushes back against AJ reading them as scum by saying "Why isn't he quoting us?...Verbal and I haven't been active."  Are you serious? 

Continuing notes: Despo over-jokes the first posts, then instant buddies hardcore.  #128 Verb already calls getting serious "distracting".  Despo harps over turin crap a bit, Also interesting how Despo posts WoTs and Thane jumps and responds to Des in <3 minutes (coordination?).  Verb has been posting very little of substance, #917 for ref.

 

PFG: Mild town.  Pral's looking consistent and reasonable.  BFG doesn't really have much of substance yet.

 

RTL: Mild town.  The in-team joking early game looked organic.  #334 from Lenlo was epic funny.  Joking Len is town Len.

 

SS : Mild scum.  First post was gross with justifying joke votes.  Tina seems to be using lots of words to say nothing and post #1060 is hardcore sniping from the sidelines.  In fact, most of what they've done is sniping from the sidelines.

 

CRUNK:  LOCK CLEAR TOWN.  Cory is on point, his major catch up was solid.  Stood his ground effectively against both Turin and Jack.  #855 is lulz. Jokes aren't forced and the only thing missing is that he is being blinded by #alliance.  Only time monk has been here is for fun in team joking.

 

Spliff: Mostly scum.  Gross first post from Dap.  Krak is lookin' good with initial pursuing of Cloud getting voted by Leelou and mosts posts are good since but Krak voting claimed BG over claimed tracker is gross gross gross.

 

Clarthe: Town.  Clouds early joking was organic, Cloud has been commenting on everyone and not tunneling.  Darthe also noted the interaction with jack/amega and the tracker claim.

 

Evil Sibs: Scum.  I thought Jack gave a town vibe before and Lily's tone was off.  Upon reread there is a mindmeld going on with YOLO, Hats, and Sibs.  Lily uses exact same wording as Thane calling Yolo or WiFum scum (distancing) but they split who they think would be.  Lily gets out of having to actually comment on Hats by saying she always finds amega scummy, then quickly switches to someone she finds "scummier."  For how reasonable Jack sounds he isn't really scumhunting most of the game.  And susp of Hally is just ??  Blatant buddying with Ithi.  Just like YOLO they find Thane ever so scummy but end up voting elsewhere (RTL in this case).  Also, looked like a scumslip in #590 when misunderstanding about AJ "going after" Hats which came right after Lily made a bussing comment.  #1014 with exploding BG claim is epic lulz for having a PR claim that should get no susp when you aren't killed.

 

HaxOrz: From post #273 on Hally is playing legit town, early on Hats, baseless susp by Hats clears Hax.

I play the way I play because it's been successful and because we're playing a psychological game of informed majority vs. uninformed majority and I generally play to win because that's what my win condition says to do and how the game mod designed the game. Anything else beyond that is the veneer of the game - whatever you actually think of me, I don't care. I don't care if you don't think I am as good as I think I am (Mafia confidence isn't real confident, but I want other people to follow my reads because I believe in them so displaying some sort of leadership is a necessity), I don't care if you think I'm impolite, I don't care if you think I'm obtuse. I care that you are scumhunting and trying to solve the game. That's all I care for anyone in this game - no talk about Alliance, no talk about "lock clear", no talk about YOLO-isms or memes or whatever - I care that you are playing the game in a way that is conductive to town winning the game.

 

I have never felt the need to explain this in a Mafia game before.

 

Think of me what you will, as long it's CONDUCTIVE TO TOWN WINNING THE GAME. WiFuM has every right to FOS me, it makes sense in my head following their narrative and I did attempt to discredit them Day 1 on a bad read.

 

Jack, you're only FOS of me as that I went after you for your threadplay. Everyone should at least think for a second... would I be ANYWHERE on Jack's list if I hadn't gone after him?

If I had just lynched Straw Hats, whom I FOSed early but relented strongly after Amega's claim - and people going after Amega were Jack's #1 scum leads according to him - do you think Jack would have been paying any attention to me at all?

 

Going after suspects based on self-defense rather than pursuing your scumreads and overall tells IS 101 MAFIA BEHAVIOR - and generally I've only gotten Jack's direct attention when I attack him. I have never been in a back and forth this lengthy without the opposing player being scum in my 80+ forum games and I can't remember the last time it happened in a RL game (which admittedly are a great deal more frantic) and I've been playing for ~5 years.

I dont like the meta stuff much either. Its one of the reasons I screw around so much each game, its something I try to do as either scum or town so that meta becomes ineffective as possible. Its also why I dont pay to much attention to arguments that focus on meta. Cause I detest basing a case around it. So someones different from their "meta" so what, they could just be trying a new thing.

 

Also respect for sticking it out with a MIA hydra head. Half the fun of this game is doing damage control for your other half. :P

We have been asked by the mods not to do this. They consider it cheap to make an announcement moments before daybreak. If we live through the night, we will tell you in the morning. I will say that we chose to protect the only team we are reasonably sure is town.
