[Advanced] Star Wars Mafia - Game Over

Did a bunch of ISOs and some partial context re-reads tonight after work and grocery shopping... Notes follow.

 

1. Lily - intentionally playing against meta (this may be a point against being mafia as this is generally considered a less than ideal time to change ones meta). The way she went after Darthe initially seemed out of proportion to the scumminess of his behavior, although as the argument went on both of them seemed to overreact.  Interaction with AVM regarding my agreement with Darthe came across as staged, and does not strike me as logical.  AVM's prompt to her mentioned that since Darthe's case on her was weak what did she think of my agreement with Darthe, but the issue I agreed with Darthe on was unrelated to his case on her... yet based on that she put me in her top 3 suspects, then backed down on it after AVM's continued tunneling.  The "can't wait to see a flip on one of them" comment coming less than a page before Darthe's death, followed immediately by Peace's comment about her being set up seems... off.  This also strikes me as being staged - could be Lily, or Peace, or both.  Lily's "I would never do this as scum" is weak.  Seems to have jumped too easily on Golden's train. Leaning scum, would prefer to lynch her first of my mafia reads to have a better idea of how to interpret interactions with Peace and AVM.

 

2. Peace - Interactions with Lily are strange - specifically the bit about their past history of suspecting one another as if to set her up to explain it away along with her meta change, and jumping in immediately after Darthe's death to say that either Lily is scum or being set up - this feels like a setup for her to point out that she wouldn't have killed Darthe because she thought she could get him lynched.  Note that he was the one who specifically pointed out (multiple times) after Despo's death that it was more likely in an advanced game that there was a mafia day kill - well before the second kill, which definitely suggests mafia has one.  Voted Lily again late, no explanation but same post has an admonition to get off the JN meta stuff, which at that point was much more on AVM's head, yet aside from saying he "doesn't get the harassment of Songstress" he hasn't commented on AVM's play at all.  Moderate scum read.

 

3. Ishy - On his town meta, nothing strikes me as suspicious.  Leaning town.

 

4. Hallia - Early game was pretty much classic fluff posting - she has been trying to change her meta for the past several games as town, and it takes her several RL days to get to actual content here, which kinda makes me wonder. Several comments on thinking a DM regular is more likely to have shot Despo than a JN'er.  After Darthe's death attributes Despo's kill to a town vig, Darthe's to mafia or 3rd party kill and tries to pin down suspects for Darthe's kill - manages to rule out myself and Ishy.  States she is thinking GE as mafia because of his backing off of his emotional response (as opposed to staying passionate like she has seen from him as town), thinks newer players like GF (did she mean GE?) or Pral might be intimidated by one of the two who was killed - votes Pral to bring him closer to the other train.  Says she will go back and look at his posts when Peace says Pral had a town slip earlier. Later day posts are more consistent with her new playstyle, although I'm not sure I agree with her conclusions or her vote on Pral.  Leaning slightly town.

 

5. Key - After Despo's death requests clarification on whether scenes contain game hints/info.  Comment on Lily's "that was a joke" post kicked off the Darthe/Lily brouhaha.  Discusses Despo's death and scene info with GE.  Asks Pral why he thinks it is more likely trigger than a role.  Does not see reason for Darthe picking Lily apart.  Asks Dice to clarify how he believes Lily is twisting Darthe's words.  Starts discussion with Darthe about why he commented on the length of the deadline, feels longer deadline especially with weekend is in town's favor.  Disputes Dice's characterization of her question as defending Lily.  Does not like Dice's play so far but willing to agree with Pral's suggestion that he was Darthe's mason partner and also notes character hint, suspicious of those still voting Dice. Gets into discussion with Peace regarding the fact that he did not take Darthe to task for criticizing Lily's play as "consistently poor" when he commented in another thread about not liking that sort of behavior in games.  Agrees with Peace's assessment that Pral is less likely mafia because he pointed out Darthe's potential breadcrumb in thread. Points out that Lily's response to my comment about her "If I was scum" statement was misleading.  Points out inconsistency in AVM's case on me regarding drawing attention to possible town vig in thread. Calls Lily's comment that she just wanted to apply some pressure scummy, and notes she is using similar language to AVM.  Agrees with AVM that the JN players in question are not quick to pull the trigger.  Agrees with Ishy requesting GE expand on his reasons for voting Lily.  Disagrees with Ishy that Lily's "applying pressure" then backing off should not be considered scummy.  Comments on Golden's reaction to questioning him over his Lily vote.  Appears to be very consistent in scumhunting and thoughtfully considering all responses - strong town lean.

 

6. Mish - Lots of back and forth with Pral for his belief that Despo's death was due to a trigger and not Han Solo as depicted in Leelou's scene.   Bristles about Dice subtly connecting her to Despo's death.  FOS's Golden for placing a joke vote on me after Despo's death.  States Lily's case on Darthe is weak. FOS's Dice for the timing on his statement about Lily feeling off, and his "early linking" of the people defending Lily. Gets on AVM's case about calling me a liar re: reading JN games. Points out bad form for Pral bringing up possible breadcrumb of Darthe's mason partner publicly.  Votes Dice, states she could also vote Pral.  Gets into back and forth with Peace as well regarding Despo's kill.  Unvotes Dice after claim, votes Pral, states his speculation about Despo's kill being a trigger seems like he is trying to appear as a helpful townie.  Agrees with me that AVM's tunneling makes him look worse.  Null read at the moment.

 

7. Pral -  Most of his content has been disagreement with Despo's death as the result of either a town vig or mafia day kill, thinks it is more likely trigger than 3rd party.  Voted Dice for fence sitting on Lily, then unvoted after Darthe's death because of possible breadcrumb (disproven by character claim).   Peace takes this as a town tell as if he would have more likely pointed this out on a QT if mafia.  Has not contributed anything else in the way of reads. Null read, maybe slight town.

 

9. Goldy - I don't like how quickly his train has built so close to deadline for a really nebulous reason - an apology for an overly emotional reaction.  I also don't know if there's a chance anyone else can be lynched so close to deadline. Afraid he is most likely town.

 

10. AVM - extreme tunneling, started off harassing Darthe and switched to trying way too hard to try to paint me as scummy.  Clearly understood that others did not agree with him (except Lily for a time) but did not move on to scumhunt elsewhere, distracting discussion.  Heavily leaning mafia.

 

12. GF - zero content to speak of.  Votes GE with no explanation.  This is not unusual for GF, not that it's all that helpful... but null read.

 

13. Dice - claimed Chewbacca, no counter and no reason to doubt him at this time. More active than he typically is as mafia  Town read.

 

With deadline being morning Eastern (8 AM for me) and the serious dislike I have of mornings, I am a little worried about guaranteeing I will be available to consolidate in time for deadline.  However, I don't really like this late Golden train and the rationale for most of the votes on him.  My ISO of his posts came across as typically aggressive and a bit emotional at times, but not showing serious disconnects in logic or strange interactions, and the apology did not seem forced to me.  I do not expect him to flip mafia.  

 

I am much more concerned with Lily, AVM and Peace and the interactions between them as I noted.  I'm going to put myself on record and unvote, vote Lily.

 

I will do my best to get up with my first alarm in the morning at 7AM (an hour before deadline) and if a lynch hasn't already been achieved I will move my vote to consolidate.  I doubt it will be needed, since Pral and some others of those in later time zones are sure to be online before I am.

The GE train is lazy. Mostly a policy-vote or something of the kind. IN any case, having seen GE as both mafia and town, the defensive GE that we see here looks town. He is usually more aggressive as scum. Looks like someone on the backfoot.

 

I am however interested in those who took advantage of the "easy" GE train. Especially these.

Lily has been flip-flopping a lot this game. There was the post recently that Key quoted her 

 

Honestly, I thought I saw something with Tress, but reflecting back on it, I don't think it's scummy enough to warrant a vote this late in the day. I just wanted to apply some pressure and see what popped out. While I don't like her joke vote still sitting on Ishy, that's really just a playstyle issue. 

 

Now, that leaves me with the dilemna of where to put my vote. My top scum read flipped town, which makes me doubt myself some. I'll figure it out as soon as I can. 

 

 

I agree with Key regarding her back-tracking and appearing as "wanting to apply pressure". I understand that Lily has been suffering from Flu and might not have had time or strength to do a big re-read. But that GE vote appear extremely opportunistic and looks more like furthering the train than anything

I'll be teaching at deadline, so I won't be around.

The apology from GE at first made me think it was probably due to scummates on the QT yelling at him, but his response since coupled with how quickly his train has built so close to the deadline makes me think town. Also, I like his play earlier in the game. Not that his OMGUS vote looks good . It looks petulant, especially this close to the deadline.

I am not voting for Pral. I find Hallia's vote on him suspect, atm. Mish's not as much because she seems to have a reason. But Hallia says she's thinking of voting for GE and then votes for Pral without much of a reason.
