How dare you say that! He was attacking me for no good reason. I feel completely justified with my reaction

Bring me a case and ill defend. These random votes are a complete waste of time

I gave a very valid reason for voting you, you aren't required to accept it, but it's valid nonetheless. And it seems to have served its' purpose, yes?

Worried the Dap obvious overreaction posts could be a gambit between him and Ishy. I bet they squeaked with childlike glee when they found out they could Drunk Mafia on QT together.

Lenlo is obvious scum. Gonna keep an eye on those that hesitate to join his lynch...

*hesitates to join Len's lynch*

Keeping an eye on me bro?  And speaking of Ithi's Indy game, history shows that Dap and I are terrible as scum together. And that Peace will eventually sniff us out.

Lenlo, Dap, and Ishy scum team. Might as well get a deposit slip cause you can TAKE THAT TO THE BANK.

Len and Dap, perhaps. Ishy, no. So look forward to that returned check fee.

You know one of the things that I think hampers a lot of games is town's fear of being wrong on day 1.

Not saying people should be reckless but they really shouldn't be afraid either.

I want to see more voting this morning people. It's how the game moves.

^^This. It's very possible to catch scum on Day One, as a matter of fact, it has happened more often than not recently. But historically, it's a day to gain as much info as you can, and you gain it via activity, voting, and gauging reactions. So step it up people.

Why isn't Ishy participating? RL got him, or he is looking for pants? Guilty conscience? You know him better.

Ishy has a job. To earn income he doesn't waste on frivolous things. Like pants.

I don't like that Theo is all about Ishy..honey there are far sexier people playing this game.

Is quantitatively impossible. I bring teh sexy.

I would like to see how a very experienced player would defend himself at this stage, so:

I vote Ishy

Whether I'm very experienced or not is open for debate. And not really sure what you want me to defend?

Posted

Why are there people not voting?

You shouldn't vote someone you're not prepared to lynch but at the same time your vote is usually the only power you're guaranteed.

It is a tool of intimidation. Why are several people not using it to dig at people?

What do you think of Leelou?

Only thing that stands out so far is the slightly odd vote on Pray. Not only is a bit early to start voting inactives (early to even determine who IS inactive really), it's also an odd move for her, I don't often see her push the activity angle, and she often starts off every game with a joke  vote on one of her friends or something. Don't remember anything else from her other than that right now tho.

1. Not lately. And I'm really only lovey-dovey with a few people. My vote is currently just randomly on someone not really showing up to the game yet.

2. I don't like that Theo is all about Ishy..honey there are far sexier people playing this game. Me, you, Dap for some examples.

3. Don't see Lenlo for "obvious scum" as of yet, plus Des's reads have been off on those he's calling "obvious scum" Day 1.

What is with all the random show chatter? Goldeneyes is new so he's getting a bit of a pass right now. Dap is still in silly mode and hasn't really gotten into game mode yet, going to be watching him a bit.

1. Right, but why are you so concerned with those not quite immersing themselves in the game yet when people we're still checking in? You know I have no love for inactives either, but isn't it a tad early to make the determination of who is inactive yet?

2. You left my name of the list. But you're right, Theo does seem extremely interested in Ishy. Dunno why. Dude gets all the chicks, and he aint even at my level in swag.

3. My reads are never off. Occasionally premature, perhaps, but never off.

I am hearing such superlatives about Ishy and Mafia games, so I wanted to see him in action. Don't mistake it for tunnelling.

If the superlatives you heard were that he's really, really, REALLY bad at mafia, then you heard right.

Unless he's drunk. Then he's like our resident drunk savant.

If I end up getting ignored in this game as well btw, I'm prob just gonna start coasting in mafia for a while. Tired of wasting energy.

Need some midol?

Yes please.

Indoanna jones game

your checks gunna bounce buddy cos im town bitches

Awwww yeeeeeeah that was a great game! Probably one of my favourites ever. It was awesome.

Des pokes, Nolder probes, Dap babbles, Len jokes, I see everything is as normal, haven't noticed anyone groaning or walking weird yet.

Ishy fixations, Check

Despo emo, Check

.....yup this a DM mafia game.

This seemed kinda interesting to me- Mish checks in with a checklist on a few players, then Peace soon does something very similar. Peace, was this intentional?

Eh? I don't follow you. And why you worried about a Dap train developing? Worried about losing a teammate so soon?

Its ishy i was talking about and if i know im not mafia then i know we arent mafia together

make sense

Don't you know?

Fwiw I don't really think this was a slip. Seems more like he's just used to programmer lingo (IF, THEN).

Still wanna see how Dap responds once he's in sober mode however. And if he'll compete with me for WoT champion this game

Reason: Scummy enough to start talking about a series that has nothing to do with the current game. It might be silly mode (being drunk) but drink has it's price, especially in Mafia games when everything can be read as a case; I have to trust my intuition as well.

Scum speedhammering a townie could have only been a good thing for townies.

It'd mark the scum right off the bat and be a good lesson for the newbies about what NOT to do as mafia.

And what feels "off" about Theo's vote? It better be a damn good explanation.

Exactly why is a "fast" day 1 a good or bad thing in itself? Wouldn't the two quick votes identify the scum? Trying to protect your teammate and hide behind a veneer of doing "what's best for the town?"

At this point I peg Dap and Des as scum. In the event it actually happened, a speedhammer would have identified two scum on Day 1. Unvoting= scum move to protect an ally. Interestingly enough, in switching his vote to Des, Nolder moved Dap from -2 to -4. Why switch at all if you think Dap is scum too?

Mafia tend to have guilty tendencies whether they realize it or not.

In real life it might be a twitch of an eye or a tightening of the lips.

Over the internet we can't rely on that so we need to push harder and faster to get them to slip up through text.

Often the best way to do this is with a vote. And besides how convinced I am of anyone's guilty, it's Day 1.

I don't know anything for sure so I'm not dead set on anyone. I just go with the flow until something more concrete crops up.

And what if one scum put him at L-1, then a townie blundered and hammered without realizing it? Everyone goes after the townie the next day, and then everything ends up a mess.

Tbh, I wasn't even as concerned with scum speedhammering as I was with the day ending too fast, but I figured that mentioning that might also prompt some reactions if I was lucky. I think I was lucky after all

As for Theo's vote, I don't like that she laid the foundation to switch from Ishy to Dap before doing so. First she fos's Dap for going offtopic, then after no prompt from him, she moves her vote to him. I think she was trying to look for a reason to shift her vote to the highest train.

^ Obviously scum.

I wasn't looking for a reason to unvote, I had one once I saw the VC. Dap at L-2, no other significant trains, no competing trains, and a recent bandwagon vote from Theo. All that told me that it was a good time to unvote to make sure we got more discussion going today.

You, however, seem more than happy to bandwagon onto a townie at the drop of a hat.

Exactly why is a "fast" day 1 a good or bad thing in itself? Wouldn't the two quick votes identify the scum? Trying to protect your teammate and hide behind a veneer of doing "what's best for the town?"

A fast day 1 is bad for town because day 1 sets the stage for the rest of the game. With a quick day 1, there's less discussion, less pressure being spread around, and altogether less info. Fast day 1's normally lead to slow-paced days after that, where no one really knows where to look. A nice, sloooow day helps set town up for success. You can hopefully get a few leads, mebbe even a couple of claims, and you have plenty of interactions that you can use later on in the game. Additionally, fast day 1's allow scummy lurkers to go bye with less notice, whereas if most are active day 1, and it goes by a bit with a couple of people failing to give input, they will stand out much more.

And as I mentioned to Nolder, I've seen town blunder and speedhammer plenty of times, only to serve as a major distraction the next day. I've seen this argument many times, that a speedhammer is good for town because it automatically gives scum away. In actual practice however, it's often a townie blunder. Scum know speedhammering will make them stand out.

When I saw this vote, I remembered Theo had recently said something about someone going offtopic, and I assumed it was Dap

Why the divertion?

What diversion?

Talking about a show that has nothing to do with the game, I was just wondering why?

But it looks like it was BFG she was talking about (don't specifically remember BFG going offtopic, I'd have to go back to check.)

I still feel like she overexplains a bit with her vote, adding the unnecessary part about her intuition, so I'm still wary of her.

But for now I will Vote BFG. Followed onto Nolder's vote way too easily. Obvious scum.

And what if one scum put him at L-1, then a townie blundered and hammered without realizing it? Everyone goes after the townie the next day, and then everything ends up a mess.

It's exactly the type of situation we normally have cops for.

But let's go with the worst case scenario, townie hammers and we lynch the townie the next day.

Ok. It's not the end of the world. Likely we'd just got after the scummy L-1 voter next.

It's not ideal but town has numbers on it's side and can afford a few mislynches.

Let's say L-1 and hammer are both townies and we end up losing. Oh well that sucks.

Next time those guys know better than to speed lynch someone like that.

I want to win but I'm not afraid to lose.

Posted

You say that if the hammer was town and was lynched the next day, that we could then go after the L-1 vote. But do you really think town would be that disciplined? That they would ignore everything else that occurred in the multiple phases after the L-1 vote? I think you have more faith in town in mafia games at DM than I do. I notice that most that play this game have far too short of a memory, and mostly move on the last suspicion they had, instead of following up on earlier ones.

Meh. Lazy trains FTL. Last time I cover this- I unvoted because I saw the VC and didn't like the last two votes on Dap's train (GoldenEye's, Theo), and didn't want day 1 to go too fast.

I'm vanilla, and Andrea, which is also my least favorite walking dead character so at least she'll die first. My top reads for scum are Lenlo, BFG, GoldenEye's, and Leelou.
