Welcome to the Band NeverTame.

While we get your access sorted out why don't you sit back and tell us a bit about yourself and why you chose to join the greatest fighting group in the world?

I'm BFG of the Archers, have some flaming shots while you wait for the others to join us.

Thank you! *raises a glass* A pleasure to meet you, BFG! ...May I ask what that is an acronym for?

About myself? I'm from Finland, but currently doing an exchange year in Slovenia as a part of my studies. I love fantasy literature, music, and cats. Aaand the music part is what brings me here, to the Band. I started reading WoT in 2001 or so, but quit sometime after KoD came out, until last year I reread everything to prepare for AMoL, and after reading AMoL in January, I reread everything again. And I'm currently trying to tell myself that once a year is quite enough and that I have other books to read right now...

Of course.  BFG stands for Big Friendly Giant, it's  a book by Roald Dahl (my second favourite of his, but 'the Giraffe, the Pelly and Me' was a bit long for a handle).

Never made it to Finland (or Slovenia), but I have worked offshore Norway, Sweden & Poland, I'm from England, but am currently working in Abu Dhabi for  a few months.  So what do you study?  What other books do you like?

Why, thank you, sir!

Oh, so the first two parts of my guess were right! I was thinking... Big Friendly ...what? God? o_O But of course. Giant.

I study Englisn Language & Literature - so far more fond of the language than the literature part but for some reason doing better on the literature subjects. Go figure. (Linguistics essays are the bane of my existence. ._.)

Other books - Malazan Book of the Fallen, by Steven Erikson, is my other massively epic fantasy of choice along with WoT. I have a moderate fondness for Codex Alera, by Jim Butcher, and am halfway through The Way of Kings and... mostly enjoying it so far. Anything by Celia Friedman, most things by Sarah Monette, and the Kushiel's Legacy series by Jacqueline Carey. And, umm. I have what I would call a complicated relationship with A Song of Ice and Fire, but I suspect I will keep buying the books as GRRM writes them... if he ever finishes the next one, etc.

You don't have to drink that to be polite (the rest of us don't)

Meh it's always the way, I chose to study geophysics because I was good at maths, but really loved geology, figured geophysics combined them both.

You're in a good place, there are a bunch of people here who like Way of Kings, I haven't read them yet, I unabashedly love Song of Ice and Fire, but accept the last couple of books felt slow.  I like Codex, but think the earlier books about Tavi (before he became Octavian) were more interesting, whereas I think Dresden has improved with time.

Hee. I'm somewhat... hesitant to try the Dresdencrack, as people over at another forum I frequent(ly lurk), call it. Because I remember how fast I read the Codex Alera, and everyone says the exact same about the Dresden Files being even better, and I figure there's a reason they call it "crack". I have enough objects of obsession in my life. x)

Welcome to the Band NeverTame!  I'm Brid, the UC of the Band and currently obsessed with Tom Hiddleston.

I LOVE cats too.  *nods*  I have a six year old kitty named Pickles who is the best cat evah!

I will send in your usergroup request right now.  Give it a bit (usually a day or so) and then you'll be able to see our private Band boards.

Thank you! =^-^=

Ah, Tom Hiddleston... his performance as Loki makes me want to see him as Taim. Not that I expect Taim (or WoT in general) to ever appear in movie format, but hey, a girl can dream...

What kind of a kitty is Pickles? The only cats I have in the friends & family circles are my sister's godmother's three ragdolls and they're fabulous. <3

Welcome to the Band, I'm the LG of the Archers regiment, you'll find our drinks much more enjoyable than the stuff you just drank. I personally thought the Way of Kings was a really good book and can't wait for the next book in the series to come out next year. But getting back to drinks here, have a flaming shot!

Tomato juice wouldn't catch fire either, I don't want to drink that either

In case you haven't figured it out yet, along with music and fighting, drink plays an important part of our SG

FIrstly, I just have to say that I can't look at your avi and not laugh! Seriously!

Geez... I love cats. Perfect example of a gentlemanly feline there.

Anywho...  >.>

Welcome NeverTame! I'm Andrej or just simply AJ as most people call me. I'm another one of your friendly neighborhood Archers

I'm also one of the those aforementioned Way of Kings enjoyers. I think Sanderson did a really great job putting together another diverse, interesting, and mostly importantly: original magic system. I have a feeling the Stormlight Archive is going to become my new WoT in a sense. Have you also read his Mistborn books?

Thank you kindly!

Ah, yes, my avatar. I feel deep kinship towards this particular feline. x)

And nope, haven't successfully read anything else from Sanderson outside his WoT instalments. I've started Elantris, but couldn't get into it. I've heard good things about Mistborn, though, so perhaps I'll give it a shot some day. As for The Way of Kings, it's kind of slow in getting started, but that can be forgiven for a first book in a massive series (as I understand the Stormlight Archive is going to be). And I'm mostly enjoying it, like I said, but more than a little frustrated with most of the main characters... x)

Deep kinship indeed. I feel like I should greet him with a nod of respect and a lighthearted comment on the weather

I haven't personally read Elantris but I know a few people that have and overall they seemed to like it. You're right that The Way of Kings started a bit slow, but I forgave him considering what all he is trying to introduce to you. After the prologue, that is, which just kind of throws you into the middle of it  The characters will redeem themselves, I assure you. The pace will also start to pick up once you get deeper into the book. I'm very excited for the next edition to get here.

Welcome to the Band Nevertame! I'm DJ, the RAL (Red-Arm Leader) and member of the Cavalry.  *claps his palm buttons together and waits for the two barrels of bandy to land next to Nevertame*   A few drinks to help in the celebration of welcoming you!

Ah, The Way of Kings, I have to agree with your accessment that it starts of slow,  but then is jampacked with awesome things later.

Thank you, sir! *raises a glass in a greeting/salute*

And yes - I have the feeling that I'm approaching the parts of the book where things are about to go down... Speaking of which, I should probably go read it instead of talking about reading it! o_O

Thank you, tonnalea! (My brain wants to capitalise your name but since it's not actually capitalised I am not entirely sure what to do.)

What is the difference between a cat and a comma?

Do tell

One has claws at the end of its paws, and one is a pause at the end of a clause. =^-^=

...Was beginning to think nobody was going to ask! ^^;

I was going to ask, but I was trying to figure it out on my own first.  Knew it had something to do with paws!!

Yup, we call her Lea.  *g*  But I'm with you, I capitalize everyone's name even if it isn't.  LOL  Just ask Blank....(blank).

Pickles is of no specific breed, so here in the US, she'd be considered a DSH (domestic short hair)   I do love ragdolls though!!!
