I have made some minor additions on my personal mafia guidelines, as I nearly forgot a really important one (the new one), and I also softened up the first one a bit, because I suppose there are circumstances it IS worth calling someone out for. So the changes are:

1. "Defending" and "Distancing" is (at least in most cases) just stating your opinion.

9. I consider calling someone out for something he/she has already defended to be anti-town, except when providing reasoning why the defense is not satisfying. I also understand it if you use it as PART OF your case, but that might, I suppose, indicate already you don't think the defense was satisfying.

EDIT: Cleared up 9 a bit.

Count me in at #12.

I would also like to remind everyone of my vision of mafia, that I will play along, so that I am able to enjoy the game, which is simply not the case if everyone is calling every sentence distancing, defending, etc:

1. "Defending" and "Distancing" is just stating your opinion.

2. Except for the first vote of the day, or when we are in desperate need for a lynch, I will count every one of your votes as "on the person you think most scummy". "Just pressuring" is no reason for me. Pressure the one you think is most scummy, or pressure without votes.

3. Go for the strongest reasoning, not the easiest target.

4. There is nothing wrong with following someone else, if you agree with him. If someone listed all reasons why someone is scummy, then it's not your fault if you can't find more reasons, and you are not scummy for that.

5. Any hammer votes that come less than 24 hours after someone got at 1/2 Lynch, AND are not yet defended by the lynched person are scum. Exception: Deadline.

6. Hammer votes more than 24 hours before the deadline are scum, except if the lynched person is confirmed scum.

7. If someone says something, that might be a joke, and he explains it as "I was making a joke", stop pressuring him. People want to have fun when they play a game.

8. I will ignore cases (on me, or anyone else) built only on things like "distancing", "defending", etc. Give me REAL reasons for your case, things that a mafia does more often than a town. If you make it a mix, I will only reply to the real reasons.

:laugh:/:rolleyes: @ these.

Ley, Mafia isn't meant to be played so rigidly, so dogmatic. The whole point of the game is figuring out who could be lying, not to have anything spelled out for you. Nothing you say here means ANYTHING to me come game time.

It probably doesn't, Desp, but it is to make clear that I will NOT refrain from stating my opinion because it might be considered defending or distancing by some people, like I have done in the past, and I will also ignore (or at most, redirect to siggy) any agressiveness with such reasons.

In fact, I'm mostly stating it pre-game, so I won't get called scummy for playing like this, as I know it will happen when I say "I don't believe in defending or distancing being a scum tell" when I'm in a game already. But now, we don't yet have roles, so you know it's me saying that I don't believe in it, wheter I'm town or scum.

you make your position or game style or whatever clear by your actions and inactions when you play. you'll get called scummy for whatever reason suits. if it gets you upset enough when ppl push you, and I can definitely relate to that, the best thing to do is to either get over it or to sit out. IMO.

if anyone pays any attention to your manifesto it will only be to tease and bother you.

I'm tempted to sign up for that alone but I'll leave it to the pros

oh, and it doesn't matter to anyone but you what you believe is a tell. you can't force people to think how you would like them to,

but... you can get me to post when I should be working.... well done :)

Well, it's just that I know that my opinion about mafia is different from others, and I believe that many of the things people look for, are not scum tells, but human tells, so to say. And I just want to make clear that I am NOT going to hold off my opinion because others will see it as buddying, and, another important one, that people do not keep using the same, already defended reason A FREAKING THOUSAND TIMES, like happens all too much. If a reason that is already defended against is used again, I consider THAT a scum tell, because it means you're pushing something that's already been taken care of.

And with the hammering, well, I still remember last game... Townie hammering someone over making a joke, more than a day before the deadline, just because he could... That's like, the most town-hurting thing you can do.
