I think problem solved if you make that a rule.

"NO JERKS"

If you made a "no jerks" rule, how would Des EVER get a game on site?

No, seriously, I'm fairly confident those are written rules [like no communicating outside the thread].  But even the unwritten rules would make someone ban worthy/mod killable offenses to me if I were a mod.  But this is a different topic.  /thread hijack.

What tactics and such are considered poor form?

Within the rules?  I would say overplaying the policy lynch angle.  There are certain people that can develop... a reputation.  That reputation makes them sort of undesirable in games.  A lot of times I will see that person just be beaten down by the player base, have their mafia skills mocked, then get policy lynched on Day 1.  That would be bad form but within the rules.

I also think it's ok to pick on someone if they screw up.  Once or twice is funny.  If you start harping on something [like a spelling mistake or misunderstanding from an ESL player for example] and hammering the person over and over?  That's not cool and I would consider it poor form.

SOME PEOPLE WOULD CONSIDER CAPS LOCK POST HEROES TO BE JERKS RUINING THEIR FUN.  I GUESS IT DEPENDS ON IF IT'S A WEIRD POST RESTRICTION OR IF IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE THEME OF THEIR CHARACTER.  IF MY FORUM NAME IS "CAPSLOCK," I GUESS I SHOULD EXPECT SOMETHING LIKE THIS.  AS LONG AS IT'S FUN IT DOESN'T REALLY BOTHER ME.  BUT SOME PEOPLE CAN ABUSE THE CAPS LOCK AND IT *CAN* GET ANNOYING.  I THINK ONCE A GOOD CHUNK OF THE PLAYER BASE IS ANNOYED YOU MAY WANT TO CONSIDER STOPPING.  I WOULD JUST POLICY LYNCH SOMEONE POSTING LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME.

Really, I think it's ultimately a judgement call.  If you are doing something that is ruining the enjoyment of the game and people ask you to stop?  Knock it off.

I do this

And tbh I do it more as town than mafia (as much as I do try keep the metas the same)

When I'm mafia I tend to try push the logic harder but as town sometimes I just shout that the train is leaving and wait to see who runs to jump on (I do this as mafia as well though just to a lesser extent)

Well, another example might be the lying about RL stuff thing. There no written rule against it that I've ever seen, yet the vast majority of players frown upon it.

I said I think Cheerleading lynches is a slight scumtell because I think scum are slightly more likely to use it. Its kind of a desperation move from mafia, whereas its a supreme confidence move from town.

The argument about cheearleading being a sport is ridiculous and you know it Yates lol. Football is a sport, but if you spiked a ball on a chessboard because you captured their queen it would be indecent and unsportsmanlike.

The main reason I find it unsportsmanlike is I find it to be somewhat disrespectful to the person you're using it against. Its making a spectacle out of them getting out of the game. Mafia is cutthroat, but that doesn't mean it can't be done respectfully.

I think the mix of players, some more respectable than others, keeps it fresh. *shrug*

If everyone sat around having a conversation I'd die of boredom.

What's wrong with that? Mods do it every time they write a funny death scene.

And anyway you are taking a tactic personally. Just because someone is cheerleading your lynch doesn't mean they don't like you.

It just means they want you lynched or they want to be seen wanting you lynched.

You should know better than most that in a game like this a thick skin is needed because the game revolves around calling each other liars which is normally considered rude behavior.

I'm so bringing a ball to my next chess match:

"Chris Pawn's got the ball and he's off. He's got space and he's bombing down the pitch. OOoooh hit hard by Knight, but he gets the ball back to David Pawn and he's by Knight. There's no one in front of him! 15 yards! 10! 5! And Pawn pitches the ball and that's a try for the All Blacks!"

*slams ball on chessboard*

Sadly, I believe you.  Then again, I clearly remember somebody having an amusing 1-liner when Christine held a video camera up to him and asked for a statement.  That wasn't nerdy, though - that was dorky.  Big difference.  I think.

TBH..i think a couple of JN'ers have done it and others have thought it was cool..so they mimic.  Not unusual.

This is not a bash JN'ers statement.  I really like the ones that have migrated here.

Look at this.  Lynch this piece of crap.,  HERE WE GO LYNCH DESPO. HERE WE GO.

Can you explain how it's unsportsmanlike?

I can see the argument for it being a bad strategy.

It's not unsportsmanlike, it's mafia, for the most part anything goes --- except hiding behind real life excuses.

Did Despo get Lynched?

I will always push for a Lynch.

And one day - someone will start a Thread that is called 'This was bloody epic and I wish we could have a whole shedload more just like it!'

With regards to something that happened in a game they were in.

Thought so.

I LOVED when Cloud fakeclaimed as Doc and because there was no Doc the little cheeky git got away with it.

I LOVED when John McClane got his picture took that proved he was a Mafia and STILL managed to come out with semi feasible logic that made some people unvote him.

There's lots to love if you look.
