@Yates: I'm not going to argue that a DPR lynch would bring more info than a Hallia lynch. I think it would, but that's not the point. Point is DPR claimed a convenient role and is now basically begging for multiple days to stay alive. He was all willing to act the martyr at night phase saying he should have been lynched, yet continuously defends himself more than truly cases anyone else in the game.

3.  Should negative utility roles want to live through the game or should they be understanding of their need for death and attempt to aid the town as best they can while recognizing this?

I'll answer but I don't want anyone cheating off my answer sheet! 

 

1.  I honestly don't.  I take a miller claim in context - the same as I do a PGO claim or a vig claim [the obv fake claim for an SK].  You start with scum points and will typically be my back up lynch on a day I don't have better information.  I felt like Mish was so OBVIOUSLY faking miller in context with her play that there was no way I was going to buy it.

 

2.  How *I* play is totally random based on who I'm playing with.  So, I guess I take meta into account.  Then again, I've become a bit of a maverick so I would discourage any of you from playing ANY role the way *I* play it.  If I'm a PGO and playing with a people that I think will be likely to investigate me early on?  I can pretty much guarantee I will full claim in post 1.  If I'm with new players?  I'll make myself so obv Town that ONLY scum would come visit me.  But that's a tricky thing to pull off and I'm not sure I'd have the stones to try it [since I've never been a PGO].  Miller?  That's a different animal in so much as the "negative utility" is simply a false positive.  If I got a Miller role I'd just be turbo super obv Town so we don't HAVE to waste an investigation on me and deal with the investigation result later - hopefully after proving my value to the Town - and let the scales of justice do their thing.

 

3.  If you have a solid scum hunter saddled with a negative utility role?  As long as that person made themselves obv Town I would want them in the game and let scum deal with it.  In theory, they could by cleared later in the game by any number of ways or just end up the lynch on a day when there is no better/obvious choice.  Hopefully by then, the negative utility player will have done enough to have earned his/her keep but that's speculation.  I did win a game on MS with Acosmist as a claimed PGO that made it to end game so there is precedent.

With Mish, scum would have been just as likely to pile votes on Mish for the Miller claim as anyone else. It is what it is.

 

DPR's claim is even more suspect in my opinion that he wasn't NK'd as the typical version has day being skipped whether he dies Day or Night.

DPR is full of crap imo but whatever. Playing a Beloved Princess like a madman is highly anti-town. It's also a really easy scum claim given its negative utility and rarity. Also, just because princess characters might be in a game doesn't mean the Beloved Princess role is. I just fake claimed Beloved Princess in a Princess Bride game on JN before I left for Europe. I know Darthe and Ishy were in that game and I think Mish may have been too.

 

You mean the game I completly forgot about? <.< yeah I didn't pay very much attention... I don't know much about the story in princess bride, but mostly the whole point in KH is to rescue the Princesses of Hearts so the bad guys can't do their evil plan.

Yes, you guys are right.  Beloved Princess *is* a convenient fake claim.  That doesn't mean it isn't real, though, and we need to be cognizant of the ramifications of being wrong on this.  So I'm treating this claim the same I would a vig claim.  Don't build a case around his CLAIM - build it around his play.

Damnit.  I also wanted to add this: why wouldn't Mish just hammer for the Town credit?  UNLESS she was looking for Town cred by NOT hammering.  See what I'm saying?  Yeah, this is a terrible mislynch waiting to happen.  I'm not having it.

To summarize (please let me know if I'm wrong), the case on Hallia (from my POV) is an opportunistic vote.  The case on me is that I didn't immediately vote Mish when she claimed Miller.  I want that said again.

So I didn't want to simply take down a townie (Millers are townies, remember) because I was hoping to get a better case than the normal "auto lynch Millers"?  Fo realz?  I literally waited minutes, and then she imploded and got modkilled.  And lucky for us, was a good lynch as the symp.  But casing me implies I'm scum - why would I not just pile a vote on Mish?  The "auto lynch Millers" is a perfect way to bury a vote - it would never get suspected and you know it.  I don't know where this opportunistic casing is coming from, but I'm going to fight it tooth and nail.

Too add to my point:  mafia want townies dead.  They would know Mish wasn't scum (the chance of that being the symp is so small that I'm not even willing to consider it, especially because mafia don't know who the symp is by role design)......so they would simply pile on.  They either get a townie Miller lynched in a super safe lynch for them to be on, or they get a power role fake claiming killed....which is even better as it is under the guise of a super safe lynch.
