Hmm, in math I got eximia cum laude approbatur, the second highest. the mathematics teacher had alarmed us to look closely at the first two solutions we did in the exam. Well I did that, but I didn't look at the third answer, something about how much grapefruite retain water after being dried out. Stupidity.

In physics, part of combined things now, I avoided the easy questions (not that I knew results from the math, these things are stately exams), chose to make two chemistry questions, So I ended up averaging 5/6 which again meant eximia cum laude approbatur.

But in English I made the Laudatur.

And in Physics my skills were ackowledged, by the stipend.

Furthermore I did much better in entry exams, physics and mathematics, into what is now Aalto University, it was the Technical university before economincs scool and industrial design were merged into it.

that's why i'm thinking stats is not so much math cause i can barely add 2+2 without getting 22... but i can calculate a standard deviation like nobody's business.

but you're smart, you'll ace it.

Thanks!

I suppose I could give the rest of that exam

Now Finnish was quite a thing, that time I made a point of writing as boring an essay I could, got cum laude approbatur. With all this reading poetry, I've either learnt better, well I wasn't that bat, just disserved, but I think I can even write poetry.

German I got a magna cum laude apprIobatur.

I didn't try french then.

isn't tolkien elvish based on finnish?

hmmmm... there are probably such titles in the states but the only one with which i was intimately familiar was take an extra semester  to be bad, and get the diploma by the skin of your teeth cause the financial aid is ovah.

Quenya is based on Finnish.

Sindarin is based on Welsh.

I want to learn Finnish someday. I almost bought a translation of the Kalevala but it was too expensive.

Yeah, the high elvish or what was it. I remember referring to a not so positive text on the fins, yes now I remember the foreword to the first translation of Kalevala, I'll seek it, here http://www.sacred-texts.com/neu/kveng/ ,

I have the impression that anything in the US is devalued. All the coddling of children, and anyone prosecuted who says what is what. I know, such things are usually misperceptions, though I cannot escape the thought. David Attenborough thought so http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Attenborough.

I'm not here to offer criticism, only obsevations.

Well I guess that link will work well enough. Still, would be nice to be able to read the original text. Translating poetry is tricky business.

It is, notice of course you do, the translator keeps the measure, he cannot keep all the content. Though reading Kalevala, it is considered hard for school children. Just to say there is an added difficulty from modern finnish, mainly vocabulary.

Also, Finland has the best public education system in the world iirc so it makes sense they have tons of different titles like that. Better education systems tend to use specialization and tracking very early whereas in the US, we're scared of it for some reason.

i devalued myself, it wasn't the country's fault.

as i said i graduated with no honors and deserved none.  but my zero effort was as good as anyone else's half arsed attempts by many a grade point, thank you kindly.

Hey, is this still open. I'd love to play. Jag skulle tycka att play!

Sure. You can have Ishy's old role.

thanks, I'll make an effort.

Oh as to that entry exam, in mathematics I made 18/36 and in physics 32/36 and you know what, I could to the top, the mathematics test was notoriously hard, trivial now. I never wanted to get to the business side, so instead I am at the top physics thing in Finland. I took an unvoluntary time off, but I'm still there. It's only now I think it would be goof for me to graduate, goddamit I'll do it.

Actually...now that I think about it we are starting right now because, surprise!, we're starting during Night phase and I think I'm just going to stretch it out to last through the weekend. Further rules will be detailed in the game thread and/or your role PM's. Which should be up/sent out within the hour or so I guess.
