Interesting mechanic

I have considered creating a mafia game in which each person that is replaces switches alignment.  The game starts low on mafia (say 10%) and every time an individual is replaced that is town they become a symp, any time mafia is replaced they become a survivor, any time a symp or survivor is replaced they become third party, etc.

 

Something bat sh*t crazy like this would be a fun if experimental game and sadly I know that I could rely on getting enough replacements to make it work on this site as of late.

 

5-7 replacements a game is unacceptable.  By any standards.  Is mafia here declining that much?

Ive always thought it would be fun to see how a game with now power roles at all in it would go. Nothing but skills for the game.

5-7 replacements is fine. I don't think the player's team should be punished for just one person's failings; mafia is ultimately a team sport.

I know that the DM Mafia Board, the BT and Shayol Ghul are now all keeping a track of this kind of situation. You should really let Wombat know who has dropped out of your game, as if we are not given the information we can't use it to drive standards up.

The only problem I see is that when you replace a mafia player, you can't include them in the PM because they might see the QT and the other team players.  Also, when someone was replaced, people would instantly lynch because it wouldn't be town.

sounds interesting, but a mechanic like that will play hell on your balance.

Yupp!  I can assure that I will not try this soon, but some heavily modified form may show up in the future if I can find a way to balance it.
