Red Veils and Red Sails

I'd wondered that, too. My personal conclusion absent anything else to go on is that they are related in their cause, but not in their being - so the Shadow is behind both their appearance and the timing, but it's not red-veiled pointy teeth whackos invading Seanchan. I'm looking forward to finding out!

The big reveal pretty much has to be Demandred at this point, right?

I have not been this excited for a simple chapter... ever.

This is the best little "dust jacket thingy" (because I don't know what to call it, and the name seems good).

Honestly can't say if the Red V/Sails (yeah, im that lazy) are connected. I can't even guess, we know too little about them, and only the colour connects them. I could see it being possible, however, if they are some corrupted Aiel as I would like to believe, them invading Seanchan doesn't make much sense. On the other hand, it would be the greatest irony and the greatest show of corruption that these "Aiel" sailed ships across the greatest stretch of water in the world. Obviously, they could be nothing to do with Aiel, just mistaken by a dying man. In that case, I don't know what they are about and could be connected to the red sails. If they are one and the same force, I would have to say they were some kind of Sharan army. That is the only force I can see being able to capture Seandar while simultaneously sending people south of the Blight. Not to mention they would have to control their own homes, from whatever rioting or what not there is there. (But i find that unlikely)

The hunter I would say would most likely be Slayer, but it seems odd that he would stop pursuing Perrin suddenly for something else.

The Forsaken would most likely be Demandred, with the whole revelation thing, however, it could be interpreted differently if you look at the wording. What do they mean by "newly revealed"? The obvious being Demandred's whereabouts revealed, but it seems odd. I would possibly say it could be Taim being elevated to Chosen status. (Again, you would have to debate the choice of words. "Forsaken", one would think, referred to the 13 sealed at Shayol Ghul)

Meh, it is too exciting, I can hardly wait for October, never mind January.

I always kind of assumed there was some connection between the Red Veils and Sails. As for the "newly revealed" forsaken, I would be really surprised if Demandred's long awaited reveal came in the prologie.

But then again, if he's going to play a big part in the book...

He's a General, isn't he? Demandred? I know he's a warrior. If he's a General, he's going to have a huge rolein the book.

Demandred is the Shadow's top General. (the only general, now that Be'lal and Sammael are dead)

As for his role, it will be big. I can definitely see the reveal in the Prologue, then fighting all through the book. Can't leave it till too late.

INTERVIEW: Apr 23rd, 2010

JordanCon 2010 - Kristi Deming (Paraphrased)

KRISTI DEMING

I asked if I was right in thinking that RJ had saved the best for last, and Brandon simply said as far as the Shadow is concerned, the main player will be Demandred.

I think the Hunter is Padan Fain, isn't he now hunting the Dark One out? or maybe since Rand and Ishmael mashed together, maybe he's in the blight thinking Rand is there, or is hunting Ishmael to hurt Rand as he can't get close enough to him???

I actually thought it referenced Slayer, but you may be right.

A nice thought, but Fain hates running after Rand. Slayer loves hunting wolves though. Plus, we have already seen what Fain is up to, he is heading to Shayol Ghul to wait for Rand to come and face the Dark One.

Thanks for the suggestion - but I tried that approach with prizes a while ago and there are LOTs of problems.

Never mind. I shall contain my soul in patience.

(:P If I don't scare you, chances are you scare others).

"A man who loves the hunt begins a new pursuit, red veils appear, and one of the Forsaken stands newly revealed. The forces of the Shadow swell in triumph as the world unravels. By grace and banners fallen, the Last Battle has come."

THAT IS SO AWESOME!!!

A man who loves the hunt begins a new pursuit

Slayer I presume?

red veils appear

Well, that's not good.

one of the Forsaken stands newly revealed

Wait, does that mean that a new Forsaken is revealed (ie: Taim) or that a Forsaken has finally revealed himself to the world (ie: Demandred)?

The forces of the Shadow swell in triumph as the world unravels

It's official, Demandred is going to be badass.

By grace and banners fallen, the Last Battle has come."

GIVE.ME.THAT.BOOK!!!

It was a pretty redundant statement by me. Good work Barid Bel Obvious.

I honestly can't say which scares me more. The fact that you came up with the theory, or that I understand it, and I seriously consider it to be a good option
