I know I sound like a jerk, but I'm tired of the same people signing up for games and continuously not caring enough to actually participate.

BG and her have both seemed to be the least active posters throughout the game, but BG was more upfront about what might be holding him up earlier in the game. Plus Solomon's logic does kinda tell us BG is less likely to be scum.

Agreed with your assessment of lolguy, Despo. I have some mods coming up soon, and I definitely want to keep an eye on his level of activity between now and then.

You didn't even need to be good at finding scum last night. You could have just gone with BG's suggestion to kill either him or Alanna. Everyone else has been vetted as town. You could have flipped a coin if you weren't sure, and hoped to get lucky. Instead you did nothing. Even if you chose the wrong person, at least you would have made the effort.

I've been leaning more toward Alanna as scum. BG telling Chuckles to kill either him or Alanna didn't ping for me. A mafia wouldn't include himself in the options, there's too much risk that the vig might actually go that way. If there's only one scum left, that means game over. If BG were scum, IMO he'd just say to kill Alanna. Vote Alanna.

B- I think I OP'd Basel; I was worried about his survival since third party players seem to get killed in EVERY game, either taken out by the mafia or policy lynched by the town even if they're harmless. I protected him against each.

In all honesty I'm glad that's done. It was my last reason to post here. I'm dropping out of DM for an undetermined period of time. It's too hard on my homework schedule, all the time I spend here. Don't worry, I'll be back, but it's gonna be a while. Probably a long while.

Iron, I think you didn't really OP me. The nature of the role kind of led me to go for a crazy EP-style play and I was taking huge risks. I knew I had to get myself viewed, so I waited till I got some heat and claimed a power town role that fit the character. My original plan was to make up sensor numbers and hope to sow enough chaos to let scum pull a win out of it, but then I took some heat and had to back off the sensor role. If Kae hadn't died, she might have viewed me a second time. I think I got lucky that town was willing to trust her view.

 

BTW, Iron, can we get the full list of characters? You just posted roles in the final breakdown.

I don't think Basel was overpowered; survivors need all the help they can get, and he wasn't really hurting either side by being in the game anyway. I do take issue with masons - which isn't to say I would never use them, but I think mods have to be really careful with using them. Masons are an informative role, so having them and a cop gives the town quite a bit of informative power. Having me as a watcher gave us some power in return, but I'm not sure if it really balanced out the masons.

 

But then again, I'm the kind of mod that really, really errs on the side of caution with informative roles. Most people will say a standard balanced setup is vanilla townies, cop, and healer. I think that setup actually favors the town a little, which is why I like the godfather role. To me, vanilla townies, cop, and healer only balances out if the mafia has a gf, too.

In a small game like this it was op. having masons, doc, and town vig plus a basically unkillable survivor is way way overwhelming for the scum team.

 

The game was over day 3. There was no other outcome.

 

Still a fun game.

 

Btw the survivor was bullet proof and a GF. We tried to kill him night one.

Oh and congrats Basel! Tbh your survivor role was a bit OP compared to any other survivor role I've seen, but that doesn't really bother me. As long as a third party W doesn't affect my team's chance of getting a W, I don't really care if it's OP or not.

 

And I think masons are overrated tbh. They essentially give the cop a 2 for 1, or give the town a confirmed townie if mafia kills one after they've claimed. That's about it.

 

But I did want to bring this up once the game ended: I personally feel like the best way to play mason, after seeing them played many times now, is to play to get your claim out as early as possible. Yet so many people seem to think claiming too early as a mason, or naming your partner or something, is bad. What does everyone think, now that we can discuss it easier?

One more thing: I highly doubt lolguy will read this, but in case he does-

 

You definitely skip out on games, as far as keeping track of Night Actions and claims and whatnot. It's not just that you fail to scumhunt.

 

And as for the "I have 0% experience scumhunting" card, that's whack yo. You don't even TRY to scumhunt. By posting more and at least TRYING to talk about which player's behavior seems strange to you, you'd be able to gain experience. If you said something seemed strange to you, and others explained that that wasn't a good scumhunting technique, you could learn from that and try something different.

 

More importantly tho, even if you had a hard time figuring out how to play, if you at LEAST paid attention to the games you were in, you could learn various scumhunting techniques by watching how others play.

 

Don't make excuses man, just don't sign up if you don't plan on committing to the game.
