It might never be known if the first abduction was a matterof time and place, or if it was inspired by the poor soul abducted.Speculation might run towards the latter, however no argument could be madethat the former did not play a major role, for even as the steam evaporated toleave a perfectly innocent scene atop the railway platform, it unsettled allwho were present to see a figure simply vanish into the aether.

 

Had they known more, they would have realized that thefigure did not vanish, but instead, was the victim of a cleverly laid trap.

 

For even as the train pulled away, leaving the platform awash with its burst of steam, the ground beneath the victim’s feet suddenly opened, droppingthat person into the waiting clutches of a madman.

Hours later, a well-concealed wall slides open to allow thepassage of the victim onto a city street.

 

But it is not the victim, exactly. It is an imitation,undetectable by sight, and made entirely of metal under its disguise.

 

This imitation – this automaton – has a new agenda (unlikethe now deceased person that it has been fashioned to resemble). That agenda includes chaos, mayhem, and thedestruction of New Coronado.

 

Without delay, the automaton strides forward.

 

 

Day 1 has ended. It is now Night 1.

 

Please send in your night actions as soon as possible.

A few quick notes:

 

Because someone asked, there is no background material to investigate - I make all of this bunk up, and if you Google "The Dark Monocle", you'll only find a reference to an old Steampunk-vampire-hunt story that I have renamed Hell's Black Birds (which will appear in my anthology Conquest Through Determination, which I will do a giveaway contest for if the publishing date is sooner than later...) So anyway, no one has any advantage over the other.

 

The storyline will contain clues to the game.

 

As far as I know, a couple of the dynamics that I have incorporated into the game are new - so no use looking under the same old stones for clues. heh

 

Day 2 will begin as soon as all NA's have been turned in.

On a serious note, this game filled up pretty fast and I didn't invite the other sites (JN or MJ) because I settled on a set-up that really couldn't take more than 30. If this game works out the way that I hope, we'll play more and invite everyone.

Now that today's been turned on its side, I have this to offer. Someone did not want discussion at all, because that someone would not have switched it to night if they had. Either we sniffed something out purely by chance or this is a tactic to confuse us. And whatever way I look at it, I do not see a role like that as beneficial to us at this point in time. Hopefully it's a one time only thing, but if it's not, this could get crazy.

 

And Mod, just to clarify, is the Ape playing or not?

Despo had inferred that his train was a result of folks "big game hunting" him if I read it correctly. It was a dig at him. I was gonna ask if he wanted Mynd's big hat.
