because we can just lynch someone and get it over with instead of trying to eke out every minute piece of information and pretending like that's actually going to justify killing someone off this early

 

the truth is, unless someone is terrible at this game we're not going to find scum because they're scum on day 1

if we get scum it'll be through luck

so I see no reason to make this a long and frustrating day 1

let's start a couple trains and lynch someone so we can get some real and reliable info

This "lets just lynch anyone because its D1" mentality is awful scummy, and if nothing else lazy. No, there isn't much to case with on D1, we all know that. Which is why watching people try to build cases on D1 can be informational... additionally, you won't actually learn from a D1 lynch unless we actually play the day out with some level of due diligence, forcing people to take a position on some competing trains, and such.

Sorry I've been a tad scarce; I fell behind in NaNoWriMo due to being busy and I've been spending most of my spare time doing schoolwork and writing. It's only 4 days into the month, but falling behind now makes it harder to catch up later, in my experience. XD

 

^Only bringing that up because of Amega's "3 content-related posts per game day or death!" rule, and the potential nearness of the deadline. Not lurking, just busy. XD

 

So, content. XD

 

The biggest thing that caught me just while catching up is that I don't think Red's THAT scummy for missing the no-coroner thing. The rules post is a couple posts in, and while she definitely deserves a reprimand for not reading a post by the MOD, she may have simply overlooked it. And if she did skim the rules, I still don't think that's "scummy, scummy skimming," as Ishy put it. Skimming, IMO, is more scummy when it's related to player's posts and catching up on the game, less so with the rules. How many scum sit in the QT and go over general game rules at the beginning of the game? Reading the rules is, in my opinion, something that is assumed to be the individual responsibility of the player. It sounds more like carelessness than actual scum.

 

Not a big deal, ultimately, but that stuck out to me and I felt I should say something.

and just for the record I have in fact played in a game where game days lasted months IRL

and there were only 7-10 people in that game

you just kind of get sick of it after awhile

 

also I kind of agree with what Meesh said about Red

it's kind of like the ToS and such for websites

you're supposed to read them but how many people actually do?

you're still responsible if you break them of course but most people use "common sense" to follow rules

and as most mafia rules tend to be cut and paste you just kind of know what you can and can't do usually

so yeah

I don't think Red's lapse there was scummy just careless as Meesh put pit
