DRAGONMOUNT

A WHEEL OF TIME COMMUNITY

Ogier

Recommended Posts

If WoT and our world are the same, but different ages, where did the Ogier come from? :loial:

It seems likely that the Book of Translation opens some kind of doorway between worlds. It's implied that they came here from another world and will use the Book of Translation to leave Randland and return to that world when the time is right (which many of them think is right now).

Book of Translation I guess takes the Ogier to some random world; not necessarily a specific world.

The Book of Translation I take was how the Ogier came to the series' world.

The books up through Gathering Storm do not specifically tell their original world.

the Ogier and the ellfin/Allfin come from the other turnings of the wheel that have or will happen, effectivly time travelers if time were a parellel world to this one. the book of traslation removes them to another plan of existance, much as a gateway moves one to the world of dreams though of course TAR is only once removed from our (westlands) plane of existance.

they seem to feel they will be safe, either thinking that the darkone must remain inprisoned, or where they go stands in a different relation to the dark one as this part of the pattern (as the pattern makes up only one lace age so the world stands as one part of the greater pattern).

The darkone being the spot of rot on the flower.

I want to know why stedding exist. I expect they would go with the ogier when they leave, though it's possible some would stay(and some ogier). But why should they prevent the use of power? You can assume there is no channeling where they come from, as they don't channel and the stedding the lift rafts from their home world, but if it serves some purpose escapes me.

anyway, yah Loiel

The Aelfinn/Eelfinn world actually seems to be a completely separate world. Both races I guess always lived on their current world.

Ogier I guess can live on either a portal-stone world or a non-portal-stone world.

Original ogier world could have been either. The books do not specify which.

Well we know this isn't true for the Aelfinn and Eelfinn per RJ.

They might be Aliens from another planet in the same world.

Maria had this to say...

[Maria: I had to look it up to make sure that I had which one was which correct. The ‘finn worlds are parallel worlds, the Ogier world is a parallel world. The place that Lanfear, Rand, Loial and Hurin went to was a Mirror World, as were all of the ones in the Portal Stone incident.]

So Parallel worlds are completely different, where as mirrorworlds are the same as yours but changed when different decisions/events happened.

Another question touching on it...

Tamyrlin: This is in reference to a previous question I asked you about Parallel Worlds and Mirror Worlds, today I believe, and you mentioned they are different. And the question I had about Portal Stones was, do Portal Stones lead to Parallel Worlds, Mirror Worlds, or both?

Jordan: They lead to Mirror Worlds, the Portal Stones can take you to Mirror Worlds, not to Parallels, which are separate.

Dark One destroying any world I would guess could only happen if He/She/It becomes free.

Though if the Dark One destroys one world, all worlds would be simultaneously destroyed with it.

If original ogier world was destroyed by anybody/anything, there can be a chance of the current ogier not knowing/remembering it.
