That was extremely well put. BS has done a hell of a job with everything IMHO. I'm quite grateful we have him and not some hack. Or worse - nothing at all.

 

And so not to track off thread, like a lot of people, I want Mo back. I wanted her back several books ago, but I'll take what I can get.

Egwene and Rand meeting right now. I'm hyped about it.

 

Having recently read chapter 1, with a foreshadowing of Rands' meeting with someone "to the east", I am really looking to forward to the the conversation between Rand and Egwene. I can almost imagine the conversation, "I cleansed the taint", "yeah well I'm the Amyrlin seat!".

I can totally see it happening with the Aes Sedai who disappeared at the end of Knife of Dreams.

Those Aes Sedai are Red shirts. RJ hasn't had problems killing red shirts. I don't care how many more Maidens Rand adds to his list or minor AS dies by a Forsaken. The only real negative I've ever had with WOT is from about book 3 onwards I've had zero worry anyone of any significance would die before the LB. It's the one area I think ASoIaF has it over WOT (even though WOT is my favourite series by a fair margin), is you never can stop worrying one of your favourite characters is next to die. I mean how many in book 1 of that thought Ned was going to be the hero of the story?

 

Going GRRM is killing (as in dead, stay dead and never return) at least SOME popular (or attached to popular) semi-major or major characters. I.e. I like some of the following, but given the LB is around the collar I'd hope to see one or more of the following die and stay dead in TOM - Faile, Gawyn, Aviendha, Faile, Gawyn, Min, Faile, Gawyn, Elayne, Faile, Gawyn, Egwene, Faile, Gawyn, Lan, Faile, Gawyn, Nynaeve, Faile, Gawyn, Thom, Faile, Gawyn, Moraine (permanently), Faile, Gawyn, Siuan or Galad (no guesses who tops my list).

 

Given RJ doesn't like killing anyone of emotional significance to the readers, I expect none of them - with the slim possibility of Lan - to die in TOM and unlikely in AMOL either. I'd like to see more of the cost of victory makes the characters wonder whether it was worth the price.

its great i think, because when one of them dies, it can be in an importan manner and it truly will touch you!

 

in comparison to aSoIaF => i thought ned was great, then he died in an absolutly unimportant manner and i thought to my self.. wel i didnt EXPECT that, but hey cool

I am curious to see what is going to happen with Moiraine.... I am curious how this will all go down and what her role is going to be.

 

But I most anticipate is some big drama in the form of a major Oh crap moment for the main protagonists.

 

This. I am laughing at all the people who expect Moiraine's reunion with Rand to be all happy and roses. From Leigh's review:

We all know that the 'fifteen years' most likely refers to Moiraine; the first real confirmation we got of her inevitable return was in ACOS, published in 1996.

I can see one such comment occurring, but I'm glad the seconding was fiction.

Oh yeah, I also really want to see Bela dwunk. Like wsted... Absolutely poofaced! See her plodding around bouncing off walls and objects, picking fights with random passerbys, mumbling incoherently (for a horse anywho), then maybe Suian tries to ride her or something for comedic effect.

 

Pleaseeeeeeee if not this book, then AMoL. I've been waiting for this for so long!.... Maybe we could start a petition to get Jason to convince the rest of Team Jordan to do it...

The thing I anticipate the most is the death of Gawyn Trakand.

I just want to see the final battle. I keep trying to imagine who will and wont be there. We know that The Three Big Uns (Rand, Mat, Perrin,)and probably Elayne, Nynaeve, Min, Egwewne (maybe maybe not?) and Aviendha. The Wolves have to be there to right? Who else though? Who was in the prophecies?

One thing I'd love to see, though I don't think it'll happen: Elaida finding out that Rand's mother is Tigraine, and having to deal with the fact her obsession with Elayne was without merit. :)

1. Mat & Thom rescue Moraine
   
2. Rand humble Taim in front of the Black Tower
   
3. Min figures out how to seal the Dark One's prison and tells Rand as Graendal kills her (would be tragic but awesome)
   
4. Rand and Egwene combining the White and Black Towers
   
5. Lan raising the Golden Crane Banner and the entire borderland army rallying to him
   
6. The trollocs pouring out of the blight and overrunning the borderlands
   

and last but not least....

Mat and the Band meeting up with Lan and the borderland armies as they are about to get overrun by trollocs!
