  1. personally i don't think he has been a DF especially since Rand became Buda. he would have seen it in him, and Bashere would have reacted like his relative and wife that were DFs in the keep.
  2. my guess is some type of Military Police. hunt down DF channeler survivors.
  3. Min. she isn't trying to shape or change him. she just wants to be by his side and help him.
  4. cadsuane uses something kinda like this against semi. although it would be interesting if used against a large group. the primary problem with the idea is that it will likely be seen by both sides. although i suppose there might be some ways to shield your side from seeing the blinding flash. could even go to hi powered spotlight wide angle beam than. aimed right at the charging trolloc to cause the rush to falter. earth spikes. cause spikes to grow in front of a charging force. super sized caltrops like someone else brought up. take barrels of arrowheads and shrapnel. whip up a big blast of air for a close, wide range scatter blast channel streams of oil/ grease with air over an enemy and use fireballs to ignite. set up a sign shop. custom globes of light for your tavern/ inn air conditioner. use the freezer as mentioned before than tie off a circulating breeze past it to maintain a cool house an earth channeler shape metals into fine jewelery, custom made and sized
  5. nah i meant to get them active in patrolling. if there were not enough greens to do it have a few from other ajahs go along and use other reasons to at least field some type of group to at least make formal patrols. greens and add in a brown to do a study, same for yellow, toss a blue or red saying to check for dfs and / or male channelers. give some type of reason to morivate other ajahs to help patrol if greens couldn't do it alone. not wisdoms. the wise women w/ red belts that had their inner circle called the kin. not all were channelers. i was saying they had it right because they worked w/ herbs/ medicines and channeling. how Luckers brought up how the yellow ajah should have been. remember there was one that had healing as good as Ny. remember when the wonder girls were in the traveling circus and near WCloak area it was men that did the medicine forget what they called him. women were afraid because if caught and they didnt channel they would still be accused.
  6. well for the armor. thin strike plates of cuenillar would be effective at least. protect vital areas. use a burst of cold area attack. freeze weapons in their scabbards. we see globes of light and fireworks type displays. why not a flash burst to directly use on trollocs. like flash bang grenades? maybe even strobe lights. sound burst to disorient enemies. soften the earth under an advancing enemy than harden it to eliminate mobility. like others have said terraforming. using delving on crops to find what is happening to them. than healing to repair them. work with the Og's. speed growth to make crops grow faster. use earth to make sculptures. have studies of the portal stones. explosive bursts of air wrapped around heartstone shrapnel encased in clay. tied of weaves of cold to make freezers
  7. i go along with people say about no AS along the borderlands. i mean even if it wasn't a full compliment of greens. 2 gr an 1 bl and either y/ br/ rd. its the blight do studies for brown/ yellow and red interested in channelers. another thing. it seems to me Wise women were what yellows should have been. the greens were supposed to be the battle ajah. the seanchan taught them different.
  8. ya i had that thought also. it just seems funny how it is brought up. also how Rahvin wasn't seen actually hit and turned all to motes of dust.
  9. ok we seen in GS how Rand uses compulsion to check if he kills his intended target. than in ToM we see it from the Forsaken's view. Aran and Delina die and the compulsion dissappears, no trace it is erased. now in ToM we have Morgase and Elayne talking. Morgase still feels something towards Rahvin, and Elayne offers to get her healed. if Rahvin died to Rand's balefire shouldn't the compulsion be erased also? to add to this Ny was there when Rahvin died but she saw a flash and he was gone. there was no moment of black/ white dust motes. we know someone who channeled died because Avi and others were brought back from death. yet Morgase didn't have her compulsion removed. is he alive somewhere and faked his death much like Greandal did? use another channeler for the attack on Rand's forces when they arrived.. he than escaped Rand but to cover his escape balefires the extra, or rand kills the extra not Rahvin? this is just a random thought that hit me on my recent rereads. i did a quick check and didn't see this anywhere. if this has been beaten to death sorry just ignore. haven't been here for a bit.
  10. i agree Luckers with your thinking. i just recently had some differing thoughts on it though. what if it was because they were not actively connected to the gateway when it melted. you don't need to channel to use it just walk through it. so neither one was linked with it to be burned out like the couple examples we hear about AS messing w/ ter'angreal being burned out. they had to actively use their channelling to use the object that caused the burning out. as for Moraine's link being severed. what if she knew Lan would drive himself nutz looking for her, either dreamwalkers/ tear doorway/ or the aiel wise one ter'angreal. so one request was for the bond to be severed.so he could still be of use to the TR people and save him. if she was just pushing him from her mind it is basically her releasing him not severing the bond so it wouldn't go to whats her name. as far as we know it was just the rhuidean doorway that melted nothing about the tear doorway.
  11. “An Aes Sedai never lies, but the truth she speaks, may not be the truth you think you hear.” Tam al'Thor Egwene is one of the strongest female channelers seen in over a thousand years. Moraine would not pass up that opportunity, in addition she even says "If she is left behind, Rand, she could rouse the village before we have gone a mile". yet Ny is stronger an she leaves her behind. Perrin has left a note and Rand told his father. Ny is on thier trail quickly and even catches up. it would have been far more reasonable to leave Egwene behind than dragging her along. the pattern wanted it and got it. i stand by what has been proven in the books concerning Taveren and the Pattern. as shown w/ Mat and the band, Taveren does not need to be present to effect the Pattern giving them what they needs. i will stick with what the books have shown. that said i agree that we disagree.
  12. Exactly right, both in the case of the original departure from EF and in the case of Loial's objection later. Looks like i was right (i am seldom wrong) Sanderson cannot write egwene. Just like he can't write mat or aviendha. Not his fault i suppose but it just shows that gap in story telling between robert jordan and BS not to mention the lack of consistency. While I doubt it will change your opinion, I think it's highly improbable that the living person best able to determine whether or not a character is 'in-character' or written correctly is you, and not Harriet(who has no known issues with how BS is writing the series, and given that she is the editor, I highly doubt she has any issues with it). I fail to see why Harriet's opinion on this should automatically be considered more valid than Elan Tedronai's, or anyone elses. who is to say she chose anything. why couldn't she be pulled into the weaving of the pattern around Rand. she needed to be put on the right path. she joins Rand who happens to have Moraine there to help her when she starts to channel. she happens to be in the stone of tear where she finds out about DreamWalkers. she happens to be out of the WT when rebellion happens thus she cannot be tied to either faction, and so can be a good candidate for Amryllin. Perrin, Mat, Rand all have choices. they seen the results of those other choices when they did the direct travel using the portal stone. Egwene was set on her path not done by choice.Who is to say Egwene chose anything? By the same token, who is to say she didn't? Her choices could all be the result of ta'maral'ailen, but is there any evidence to suggest that is the case? pretty much one word, Loial. he was brought into Rand's weaving and it is confirmed by the Elder in the stedding. Rand need's Egwene in a certain position later on to help him. the pattern set her on the path needed. Taveren get what they need not what they want. the whole series is proof. i don't see anything to say she wasn't wrapped up into Rand's taveren nature. as Moraine said the Pattern willed it. tEotW pb page 142. Lan " no Moraine!" Mor "it is part of the Pattern, now, Lan." Lan "it is ridiculous! there is no reason for her to come along, and every reason for her not to." Mor "there is a reason for it. a part of the Pattern, Lan." Uhhh no. It was her power potential as an AS and to keep the trip quiet around the TRs that made Moraine decide to bring her. Edit: David beat me to the punch... uhhh no. Aes Sedai cannot lie. she states plainly "it is part of the Pattern."the TR would know what has happened soon enough. they could have tied her up in the stalls or wrapped her in a weave that would unravel ina set amount of time. Moraine had many options to deal with her. she has the Dragon Reborn w/ her. what is a young woman that can channel compared to that. why risk themselves bringing her along when Mor an Lan came to the TR to get the Dragon and not channellers? don't make any sense except for that one statement she makes that it is the pattern. it is what first brought Egwene into noticing them preparing thier leaving. the most sensible thing to have done would be to not take her and risk her life knowing they will be hunted by DF and trollocs. sensible thing would be to tie her up in the stall and leave her to be found.
  13. That's not the Pattern, that's Moiraine. If Loial was being forced by the Pattern to include Egwene, he would have felt compelled to bring her along. He did not feel so compelled, so an Aes Sedai bullied him, as is their wont. wha? the pattern swirl around Rand, Loial isn't taveren. and why would Rand be compelled? as seen things happen w/ taveren that they don't want yet is part of the path they have to take. Rand even confronts Egwene and asks her not to come because of the dangers. she ignores that because she doesn't want to miss the traveling outside of Two Rivers or miss the adventure of it. it is still possible for her to back out. Moraine just sees that the Pattern has plans of its own. Moraine didn't bring Egwene into it the Pattern did.
  14. well i have to agree with other that it is Moridin, Lanfear and Moghie for the dreamers. as someone brought up before Lanfear has an insight into Mat and Perrin after just being released. as if she had some prophetic dream to give her information. than we have Moridin. he spent plenty of years partially bound in the bore where he only lived in dreams. he knows alot about the future. he knows things and how to initiate things that will effect the future. he was setting strings tied to people that would be important in the future. strings that would be around the Dragon w/ out even know who the Dragon was. could some of the Dark Ones prophecies actually be Ishy sending dreams to someone? Moghie. no direct info but to claim to know more of the Dream world than Lanfear her abilities have to be remarkable. she knew where to track down the one seal in Tarabon. could she do that because she was a dreamer? these 3 seem to be the strongest in the Dream World than any of the other Forsaken. it would than be the most logical step to say that as Dreamers they would have the edge over the others since it is more natural for them to be in the Dream World.
