Discuss it now. Or rather, tomorrow when the Prologue comes out.

I think we'll see an assualt on Fal Dara and likely it's fall. We haven't really seen much else of the Borderlands that would have a visceral impact on us.

I reckon Demandred may be likely--I think the rule he secured was rule of the Trollocs following the 'Sammael subversion'. He secured the Shadowspawn by putting in place protections to keep them from being subverted by random Chosen. His rule is secure and he was gathering for war--now he launches.

Id say it was logical apart from the fact that Moridin is gathering the Blight Army for war.

From Graendal in tGS Prologue

Moridin was gathering the Great Lord's forces for the Last Battle, and his war preparations left him very little time for the south -...

Why would Demandred be doing the same thing?

I suppose you could say that is why Moridin doesnt press him for answers. They are working close together, perhaps in different parts? So he has the east blight. Moridin the west. or something like that, but I am not so sure.

Everything points to demandred being among humans. His presence in LoC. Graendal (im not sure) saying he adapts to the 3rd age styles well. The comment that Aginor and Demandred were set to watch over Rand. None of it seems to indicate he is in the Blight.

But this isnt the place to discuss it, i dont want to hijack the thread, so maybe create a new thread if anyone wants to discuss in more detail?

No Barid I agree with you kinda. The only thing that holds me back completely is that Demandrad is the General of the forces of the Dark One so logically he's securing his rule over the Dark One's forces. Whether he went and secured rule over something other than trollocs and what not, maybe he's got an army of humans from somewhere who knows. I just don't see the point of Moridin being in the blight in his fortress or whatever while Demandrad is X leagues away also in the blight. Seems like a waste of the Dark One's most valuable resources.

An attack on the borderlands and their assumed fall to the forces of the Dark would/will be very intriguing. Even moreso if we're given numbers that are overwhelming. That news won't take long to reach Tar Valon and those pretty little Aes Sedai aren't too far away from there. It would be fitting for the Dark One to start his assault and end the book with all of Team Light having a meeting on what to do.

This gave me more goosebumps than any other scene in WoT has in a long long time. Nothing like reading something like that for the first time. Like the Nynaeve scene in KoD with the Borderlanders, or like the scene when Mat blows the Horn of Valere.

This scene just really resonated with me.

I also liked how Galad kept insisting that the Whitecloaks (on both sides) were good people. The Light WILL prevail... I hope...

Completely loved this scene. The one question it brought to my mind is; Is this happening all across the border or just here? Kandor is in the middle of the Boarderlands and a deep penetration there would split the Boarderlands in two.

Another question occurs to me. Where are all of these trollocs coming from? So far in the past three years we have seen close to 500,000 or more killed, maybe a million. That doesn't include all of the myrddraal that controled them. This seems like a very large number of troops to lose before a major offensive. Maybe it is just a drop in the bucket though.

I'm posting this without reading the spoiler. (This time around, I have enought strength to avoid actually reading the advance material. Not enough to avoid the spoilers, obviously. ) Anyway, I think Demandred's grand plan to sweep the Borderlands out of the game will be spoiled by Lan's Army.

I'm thinking the child and a few others may get out but most will die. I really want so other shadowspawn attacking the borderlands, like worms and stuff. Lans needs more followers, maybe some AS if any are still there because team Dark won't stay blind to the king of Malkier forever. They will want him dead. Like I said in Lans thread, I think we have a battle at the Aesdishar coming and it's probable destruction.

This will probably lead to Lan having to do battle in Kandor, I agree. In his pov, he hadn't left Saldaea yet, so assuming that these two povs are from the same week, he should be intercepted by the trollock advance.

I agree with this 100%.

Brandon has gone on record and says that the Dark One has access to orders of magnitude more Trollocs than can be supported by the Blight alone. Whether this means they get food from elsewhere and have it shipped to the Blight, they live in the Ways or some other world attached to the Ways, or whether they are being stored on another world and commute via Portal Stone is anyone's guess, but hopefully it's explained somehow. Ishamael only came back in the past 20 or so years, and he didn't have a huge amount of extra Trollocs lying around after Book 1, so it's unclear where armies of millions of Trollocs can be raised / supported. 2 years of breeding wouldn't do it.

Also possible that, by the time Lan gets to Kandor, the Trollocs will have swept through all the way to besiege Chachin, and he'll move through Shadow-controlled but mostly unmonitored lands.

Somebody may have already answered this but in the begining of tGS, we see how the Trollocs are made. In terms of parallels to LoTR, I think the DO has been amassing his troops for some time.

Tactically/Geographically-Speaking...an initial assualt by the Shadow on the Borderlands is obvious and smart.

They (the Borderlands) are the gateway into...well, the rest of the world, really.

You want to smooth your way, hit what will likely be your first line of resistence with an early knockout punch.

You'll still have plenty of armies waiting, sure - but you'll sure be making your initial steps a WHOLE lot easier if you're the Shadow.

Could you provide a quote for that please.

This was my favorite section of the prologue. Not only does it give us a nice POV from a Kandori (have we had one yet? I can't recall), but it's also touching, and really shows why people respect the borderlanders so much. I don't think there has been a borderlander character I have not liked (well, Faile is somewhat lame), and this part continued the tradition.

I hope someone arrives to help them, but I suppose that's extremely unlikely. Oh well.

I wonder where in the timeline this occurred.

Likely before the Seven-Striped Lass as they have rumors of trollocs.

No, no. All those rumors of things that actually happened before them bear no temporal hints at all. Rumors just spring up all the time, right?

Anyway, without going back into the 7 Striped Lass too much, I loved this scene.

Though I think Ituralde should have some Asha'men and be watching portions of the Border, if they can hold for a while... Plus, where is Renald Fanwar and all those who travelled north? Will they be met by Lan? Ituralde? Hordes of Trollocs?

We had a PoV from Kandor's queen, Ethenielle in TPoD's Prologue where the Borderland Rulers make the pact to find the Dragon Reborn.
