Chapter Titles (Full List In Order From The Book)

On Brandon's website the Great Hunt page it says clue 15 has been unlocked. Any idea on what it was yet?

And to add something, I think The Strength of This Place will refer to Shayol Ghul and how the bore and the Dark One's power is increasing via weaking of seals on his prison and the weaking of the pattern (The Pattern Groans). Obviously just a guess though :).

The End of a Legend is a very intriguing chapter title cuz on the surface you would assume that it's a characters death, but WoT are always tricky and usually involve some kinda of character having some sort of revelation.

According to https://docs.google.com/View?docID=dcjspjqg_881z2xd56fn&revision=_latest it is "An Open Gate"

I love 'The Great Hunt' but I hate doing those randomly generated codes everytime. I literally suck at reading those codes and sometimes it takes me 3-4 tries before I can get them correctly.

Here is my guesses on what each chapter means.

Prologue- Distinctions

1. Questions of Leadership- This could refer to anyone but I wouldn't be surprised if it is about Rand and his followers questioning his latest behavior and disappearance. This could be the chapter where Logain finally steps up his role as a leader and begins an initiative to clean up the Black Tower.

2. The Pattern Groans- This one seems to be the adverse effects of Rand using so much balefire on Graendal.

3. Questioning Intentions- This one is too vague for me. Perhaps it has to do with Nynaeve or Tam questioning Cadsuane's motives.

4. Lighter Than A Feather- I will bet my signature away that Lan does not die in this chapter nor in this book. I like the above interpretation that this has more to do with Lan finally accepting his role as King and leading his people rather than throwing his life away.

5. Blood In The Air- seems to have something to do with the large darkhound pack from KoD or with Slayer and Perrin hunting each other.

6. After the Taint- seems like it may have something to do with Egwene trying to formulate a new relationship between the Asha'man and Aes Sedai.

7. An Unexpected Letter- the late Verin and her potent little letters

8. An Empty Ink Bottle- no idea

10. Use a Pebble- it seems a lock that this will have something to do with the taint

12. Partings, and A Meeting- I predict that this is the chapter where Mat will leave for the ToG.

13. The Strength of This Place - I really like the idea that this has something to do with Shayol Ghul

14. Talk of Dragons- Aludra seems to be the best idea for this chapter. Mat and Elayne will probably set her up with all the resources she needs before Mat leaves for the ToG.

16. The End of a Legend- This is crazy talk, but wouldn't it be cool if this chapter was the one that revealed Asmodean's killer?

20. Men Dream Here- Maybe this has to do with Lanfear stalking people's dreams in Tel'aran'rhiod. I already predict that it was Lanfear who was tampering with Masema's dreams and maybe we learn something more about who was tampering with Masema.

21. Into the Void- Just a guess, but this could be a chapter where Rand and Moridin have a telepathic fight regarding the connection that has formed between them. It could also have something to do with Gawyn helping to fight off some of the remaining bloodknives.

22. A Storm of Light- it would be great if this had something to do with the confrontation between Logain and Taim's Asha'man.

23. A Good Soup- no clue

24. The Right Thing- obviously something to do with Galad. Maybe Galad will finally lose his V-card to Berelain :P

25. An Invitation- too vague for me to think of anything

32. A Reunion- my first thought was that this will be the reunion between Perrin and Rand. My 2nd thought, which is even sweeter, is that this chapter could be Aviendha coming back from Rhuidean and asking Rand to marry her.

Some helpful hints: it's case-sensitive. If you can't tell whether or not it's capital or lower, it's most likely lower. A lower-case u will have the stem on it, l is always lower-case L, not capital i.

This seems unlikely because the book is mostly dedicated to non-Rand plotlines, as they're about a month behind. Logain is with Rand, so the only real chance to see him is at the end of the book.

Kinda like Lan Mandragoran riding to his death? It's not really a spoiler, because it could refer to either Rand or Lan, and we don't know which. My guess is that Lan is a big fat red herring, but we can't be sure until we read it.

Although that did just turn out to refer to Lan's framing it in his mind that he was riding to his death. There is a point to be made about the difference between a reference to a frame of mind, and a reference to a death of a major character. More and more I think about the Death of Tuon and wonder if we aren't being completely misled here.

Although I suppose having done that in the Death of Tuon he's allowed for himself to double back on that. And I would want the death of either Rand or Lan to have a poignant title.

I dunno, I guess my point is just that we have to be aware this might be a mislead--say the chapter might instead be that now Rand has had an attitude adjustment he finds that duty is no longer as heavy as a mountain. Or something.

23. A Good Soup- no clue

We finally get to see a Trolloc dinner party?

3. Questioning Intentions-

I said on the old forums that I reckon this is Pevara questioning Taim's intentions. Something happened at the Black Tower to stop the Aes Sedai returning to the Tower--that wasn't Taim. Taim could have simple taken them at the beginning, so if he did take them prisoner it's because something happened to force him. I think that something is Pevara scenting something rotten.

16. The End of a Legend- This is crazy talk, but wouldn't it be cool if this chapter was the one that revealed Asmodean's killer?

Lol, that never occured to me.

20. Men Dream Here-

I think this is just some sort of reference to men united by their dreams (hopes, desires, not TAR). You know, the resistance against the Shadow gathers.

Wouldn't it be cool though if this was a reference to say, why male dreamwalkers are rare. Or maybe that's just me.

Yeah, I know. Hence me saying it's not confirmed. The Death of Tuon was pretty obviously a misleading title; I believe I was the first to suggest that one was simply referring to her new name (though it's funny to see what all I was wrong about).

You are possibly right, but Logain was barely mentioned in TGS. In KoD Logain wasn't always with Rand, he was off doing errands with the Sea Folk and what not. I don't think it is out of the realm of possibility that Logain branches off on his own in this book. Do we really know what Logain was even up to the whole time in TGS? I do agree with you however that it is unlikely that we will see a complete resolution to the BT showdown in ToM-- but I think that we are probably going to see the beginnings of the conflict take place-- and Logain should play a role in that.

Lol, I like your ideas. That would an aptly named chapter if "A Good Soup" turns out to be about a Trolloc invasion.

You Pevara idea for "Questioning Intentions" is also very good. We know that Pevara is going to be featured heavily in this book so I wouldn't be surprised if you are right. It is quite possible that they were taken prisoner though, especially with Min's viewing about an apple-cheeked Accepted with bars floating in front of her. This viewing seems highly likely that it would represent Theodrin.

"Men Dream Here", I reckon, could possibly be a Borderlander thing. It's reminding me of Lan explaining in EotW ( to Egwene?) that 'when you know something only as a dream, it becomes more than a talisman". About the Borderland tradition of saying Peace all the time.

Just something to think on ...

Hmm, sorry if this ends up being a very long post, but here are my predictions:

1. Questions of Leadership

- Three part chapter; Perrin groans about being a leader again, Mat groans about being a leader again, Rand groans about being a leader again (despite the whole laughter business, he is still the DR, and that is a big burden).

2. The Pattern Groans

- Forsaken chapter; involves what happened to Graendal and her plans for Elayne, that she killed Asmodean, and another small Forsaken meeting about what happened on DM.

3. Questioning Intentions

- Galad's lead on chapter from the prologue, involves the Questioners (clearly), but Galad being Galad is being a bit annoying about it all.

4. Lighter Than A Feather

- Lan chapter on him having to die blah blah blah, or possibly him/Rand actually dying.

5. Blood In The Air

- Not sure on this, Trollocs pouring out of the Blight?

6. After the Taint

- Black Tower chapter, tensions are running high.

7. An Unexpected Letter

- Not Mat's letter, someone else got on from Verin, but who?

8. An Empty Ink Bottle

- Ogier chapter, Loial adresses the Stump and convinces them to go to war/is put down and saying he has as much in his head as an empty ink bottle.

10. Use a Pebble

- Hmmm, not sure. Rand chapter?

12. Partings, and A Meeting

- Moiraine and Mat chapter. Someone dies, Noal?

13. The Strength of This Place

- Something big happens in TAR, Egewene and Mesaana showdown?

14. Talk of Dragons

- Gawyn being an idiot about Rand, then someone FINALLY tells him he didn't kill Morgase and kicks him up the arse.

16. The End of a Legend

- Bye bye Cadsuane. Dead by Demandred perhaps.

20. Men Dream Here

- More TAR, Egwene has an encounter with a male Forsaken with the WO.

21. Into the Void

- Not sure about this one. Maybe opening of the ToG?

22. A Storm of Light

- Not sure about this either, Rand doing something awesome?

23. A Good Soup

- A ridiculous chapter about Elayne.

24. The Right Thing

- Galad being a prig as usual. Joins up with Perrin perhaps?

25. An Invitation

- Egwene invites Rand to the WT. Lots of heads staying up arses ensues.

32. A Reunion

- Rand/Mat and Thom meet back up with Moiraine.

Phew, that took longer than I thought...

The End of a Legend: The Ogier open the Book of Translation and depart, shutting down the steddings. Loial and Erith remain.

A good soup: Rand Skims somewhere, as he does so, he remembers rejecting the terrible soup they tried to serve him and going to look for the pantry to get something edible. Behind him there is a thud, he turns to see Asmo's dead body landed on the Skimming platform. He thinks: So that's the sound I thought I heard..

..well you never know, it could happen!

Ah, first post on the new site. Apologies for a long one, as I'm going to try my hand at predictions.

1. Questions of Leadership. I'm with the majority, it has to be about Perrin struggling with his position and whining about wanting to be a blacksmith. Barf.

2. The Pattern Groans. Again, I'm with the majority, has to be about the repercussions from Rand's balefiring Graendal's palace. Could be a Graendal POV, or one of the other Forsaken. Or a third party, does the groan impact Rand's (or one of the other's) ta'veren status? Though it could be the pattern weakening (and a groan before a break?) from the DO's touch.

3. Questioning Intentions. I leen towards the Whitecloaks here, though there have been strong hints in the last book of Elayne employing a torturer as well, so it could be her questioning that practice. But I'll go with Galad.

4. Lighter Than a Feather. While most instinctively point to a Rand or Lan death scene (or a POV from them), I think a chapter about the Borderlanders is also very likely. In fact, that is my call. A chapter resolving the Borderlander armies. Could be from Rand's POV, Ethenielle's, or another's. Maybe even Bashere's. I think some death in the Borderlander ranks is likely especially if some of the AS are Black. And if Perrin is to take the Broken Crown, Tenobia's life seems to be short.

5. Blood in the Air. Seems like someone on a hunt to me. I'll go with Perrin hunting Slayer, or Slayer himself. I think the Slayer (Luc/Isam) question needs to be resolved through Lan (Isam), Noal (Isam), or a relative of Luc's (Rand) before Perrin kills him in TAR. Hurin on the trail or Seanchan Blood are also possible, but I'm sticking with Perrin/Slayer.

6. After the Taint. I desperately want a BT chapter and I think this could be it. But I think a WT chapter with the fact of the taint being gone, and the impact on AS, is also possible. Perhaps a chapter on the Reds finding their new calling? Egwene still has work to do at the WT, and this could be it. I'll go with the WT option.

7. An Unexpected Letter. One of Verin's letter's arrives. Whether we get a Verin POV, or someone else get's one, who knows.

8. And Empty Ink Bottle. Loial.

10. Use a Pebble. No clue. However, I can't help but think the Seanchan damane/sul'dam thing has been out there so long, and not used. And Verin did make the comment to Mat. I think the Light will finally use that info to strike at Seanchan somehow, whether Mat, Thom, Elayne, Egwene, or Rand tosses the pebble, there will be large ripples.

12. Partings, and A Meeting. Vague, could be several. Morgase and Galad. Moiraine & Thom, Moiraine & Mat. Plus, Cadsuane's and Nynaeve (and also Rand) know where Perrin's group are. Tam and Rand probably need another talk.

I'm going with the latter, this is a meeting between the Two Rivers folk (Perrin, Rand, Nynaeve, Tam) plus some of Rand's party. And someone decides to go a different way. Nynaeve perhaps? An envoy to the WT and Egwene? Or to help Lan in some way? Or to the Borderlander's to make sure Malkier is represented? If he won't raise the Golden Crane, maybe she will.

13. The Strength of This Place. Again, could be a bunch of things. I like either T'A'R, Rhuidean, or Shayol Ghul. Somehow relating to Fel's note about belief and order giving strength to the Pattern. Maybe Caemlyn. Or Tar Valon itself. I think Tar Valon, under Egwene's leadership, will be such a place. It will be a WT chapter (Egwene, Siuan, Gawyn, Byrne, Leane, or other AS POV).

14. Talk of Dragons. Seems obvious. Talk of Aludra's dragons, probably in Caemlyn, with Mat & probably Elayne & her wily Warder.

15. An Open Gate. Seems like a Waygate. Perhaps one the Elders didn't close. Or was opened. There have to be DF Ogier, too. Doesn't there? Maybe one Loial knows.

16. The End of a Legend. Seems to imply a death, but then, so would have the Death of Tuon. Cadsuane or Jain Farstrider are the likeliest choices. Perhaps Cadsuane teaches Rand (and the others) how to die fighting for the Light. Much as I want Caddy to live, I don't think she will. Still, I'll hold out hope for her, and go with Noal in the TOG. And it might not be his death, but some sort of revelation. Maybe he's involved with the fall of Malkier, or Isam? Birgitte's death would certainly be the End of a Legend. I hope she survives, but I think my hope is in vain. Still, I'm going with Farstrider.

20. Men Dream Here. Going with another Moridin, Rand meeting in T'A'R.

21. Into the Void. Most think it will have to do with swordfighting, but death is also a void. I think we'll have the death, and heartbreak, here. Don't know whom, however. Rand, Lan, Cadsuane, or Birgitte seem the likeliest. I'll go with Rand's death. Whether actual, faked, or soon to be brought back by Nynaeve.

22. A Storm of Light. Sounds like a One Power, and used for the good. I think Min figures out what the deal with Callandor is, and it is used. Nynaeve is always associated with Storms, I think she'll be involved, probably with Avi or Alivia. Black Tower battle would also be very cool (but there will be Storms for the Shadow there as well).

23. A Good Soup. Elayne's pregnancy in Caemlyn (barf). Hopefully, I'm wrong.

24. The Right Thing. Galad makes a call. Perrin and beating the DO trumps Whitecloak revenge. And there will be big repercussions.

25. An Invitation. Lots of great possibilities. Egwene & Rand. Borderlanders & Rand. Tuon & Rand. Taim & Rand. I'm going with the latter, from Tuon's side this time. She get's her head out of her rear (ripples from a Pebble) and realizes she must fight for the Light. Though Egwene/Rand would be good as well.

32. A Reunion. I think this will be the big one at the end (or near the end), not just Moiraine, but ALL the original protagonists, plus some extras. Rand, Mat, Perrin, Egwene, Moiraine, and Thom. No Lan, he's busy. Probably Elayne, Loial, and Min as well. The Light may start working together! What a concept.

I like the thought of "A Storm of Light" being a chapter that reflects on male channelers reaction to Rand destroying the Choeden Kal. Is it safe to assume that he used more power to destroy it than he did to remove the taint? If so, there will definitely be come good reactions.

So it seems clue 9 is in. How can I find out what it was?

It was posted on Twitter:

The chapter title is "For What Has Been Wrought," which is also a line in the Karaethon Cycle: "And at its center, the blind man shall stand upon his own grave. There he shall see again, and weep for what has been wrought."

I'm guessing it'll be about Rand discovering just how badly he messed up some things (his relationships with friends and allies, the Black Tower, Arad Doman).

That one is so frustrating since it was very guessable. I think I guessed something similar.

Ah thanks. Sounds very straightforward.

I think the "The Right Thing" chapter is going to be Galad feeling forced to fight and/or possibly kill Gawyn, to keep Gawyn from killing Rand.

If that happens, then the prophecies and foreshadowing suggest that Gawyn will win.

Yes, I've seen your theory.

A few other predictions:

13. The Strength of This Place - Stedding Chapter, possibly in regards to Loial succeeding in his Stump speech and talking some/most/all the Ogier to stay in this world.

20. Men Dream Here - This seems very much to me like a quote that Hopper would say to Perring. "Go, Young Bull! Men dream here!" So, I'm guessing this to be an important Perrin chapter.
