@ TJNA:

I'm honored.

Thank you.

I usually am.

Oh, dear!

Oh, he's as good as dead, then?

You don't like him?

Ooh, burn.

You're right, that was rude of me. What was I thinking?

I knew it!

Spoilers! :P

I've made a grave error. Seppuku is the only way to regain my honor.

He can even do the NY crossword puzzle by Will Shortz.

I knew I'd have to double check that one.

You've made my day. Now I have something to look forward to :D

I'm not surprised. But names have meaning, especially in this series.

I intend to.

But most importantly:

You posted here before introducing yourself in the introduction thread?!??! I'm telling!!!

Seriously though, I'm thrilled to know that I am having an effect on people.

But just to be safe, go ahead an introduce yourself here: http://forums.dragonmount.com/index.php/board,89.0.html. It'd be terrible if a trolloc issued you a warning for finally having something you wanted to say.

Or is it book 13? My brain hurts today...someone will correct me if need be! :)

Book 13 Towers of Midnight (ToM)

Book 14 A Memory of Light (aMoL)

@Dralid good thread man, I'll be watching.

when you finish the book read the Prologue again, it's easier to understand.

I like your theories, some are off a bit but they are well thought out.

No spoiling or anything, but if you don't think you're hooked by the time you start chapter 9, you will be after you read it.  I was, at least.  :)

Yip Ch 9 is one of my favorite chapters, there is a great story I like in that Chapter, and it also gives you the rundown on what the Mountains of mist are all about.

Happy 1st read!

Okay so this is post 30 for me, and let's do some math:

I've made 30 posts, and I have comments from over 30 unique readers.

This means I've gotten 1 new fan for every post I've made, but wait: the rule is for every one who posts there are a hundred who read and do not post, let's trim that down to ...say ... 10 for this exercise. So 300 readers.

I've made 30 posts and have read 6 chapters, that's 5 posts per chapter.

There are about fifty chapters to this book, and twelve thirteen (prequel counts) books released in this series. That makes 250 posts during this book and 3,000 3,250 posts by the time I'm finished.

Now 3,250 posts would by extension equal 3,250 unique users who have posted on this thread and 32,500 readers who are reading lurking in the corners.

Now there are 13,553 registered users on this site. If my math is true, than I will be followed by every registered user of this site somewhere around Book 5, Chapter 21.

So my evil plan is unfolding beautifu- uhh, I mean....

Chapter 6

- If it's not poison, I'll eat my [glow=black,2,300]XXXX[/glow] toast. Note to self: don't make statements you aren't prepared to back up. This is a forum, someone will hold you to it.

- Yay! Delirium induced backstory.

- Aww, her name is Kari. Hopes dashed and slassed and even asterisked a couple of times. :(

- Okay so Rand is dragging the delirious Tam back to town, and while it is gripping to read, filled with suspense and another appearance of the Dark Rider, there's not much for me to say about it. I only hope the town is still in one piece. If Narg (I will miss him) was honest about Myrddraal only wanting to talk, the town should still be in one piece. That's a decently sized 'if'. :)

- Tam's ramblings, however, I could write a full page of speculation on each line: Avendoraaldera - a maguffin for explaining how foolish men did foolish things to create a foolish war.

- The Green Man was mentioned. But a name by itself would be silly of me to speculate on... I'm guessing a caretaker of this Tree of Life? Maybe a living tree?

- OH MY! OH! WOW! Okay, so I've never, I mean WOW. I don't usually keep track of my predictions, But WHOA - and many of them are wildly wrong, but Still! AWESOME. I called that in my first post. .... *regains composure*. Ahm, So I was correct about the Tam adopting Rand. And while obvious, I was right about Rand not being from around these parts. And while Kiri is Rand's mother, It's interesting that his biological mother is an unknown, still setting the stage for the "Luke, I am your father" later down the road.

- Finally, it took poisoning a man half to death, and literally dragging the truth out of him, but we're finally getting some answers!

When you made that prediction I was like, "wow he is gonna get almost instant gratification". You have had some other almost spot on stuff as well. Great posts so far, keep it up you making a bad work day tolerable.

Less math, more reading  :)

BTW, please don't slow down with this, but it might be best to create a new thread for every 10 chapters or so; just to keep this a bit easier to read for the rest of us.

Thanks for this!

When I read your posts, I feel like such a simple, simple guy.. I mean, you had several theories from the get-go, where I just read "Ok, so that's Rand and he saw a weird dude on a horse". I'll keep following your posts and point you in the right direction if I can (or in the wrong direction if it's necessary  ::)). By the way did anyone get the same feeling from Lan as you get from Aragorn the Ranger (beginning of the Fellowship of the Ring)?

Dralid, thank you for doing this.  You dragged me out of lurking as well.  Don't listen to the rush crowd.  I sympathize with them, but this (as you will certainly discover, if it is not already painfully obvious) is a very detail oriented writer that is taking you on this journey.  The first time my friend tried to get me to read this was my sophomore-junior summer (really?  18 years ago??) vacation, and I didn't have the attention span to handle it.  Thankfully, I got grounded before winter that year, so I tried again.  Best punishment EVER!

I don't want to spoil you or anything, but you're going to love the epic ending battle between Tyrion and Richard Rahl to reclaim Aldur's Orb at Mount Doom.

PS: Don't get too afraid, 'cause the Fool comes in at the end and saves Tyrion.

Like he needed saving! Tyrion was kicking Richard's butt all over the place. 'Twas only a last second deus ex machina that even made it seem like Richard was winning for the moment he was.

Never, ever underestimate a Lannister. Particularly short ones.

Chapter 7

- So the village is half-razed. Although no pattern was suggested, I have a guess - I would say that the destruction may be focused on those houses sheltering the boys who were able to see Myrddraal. Perhaps the boys who were given a silver homing beacon.

- If the trollocs and the burnt village turn out to be a prank by Mat which has gotten out of hand, I will be impressed.

- It's confirmed: Thom Merrilian is my favorite. While others asked Rand a question with an obvious answer and were declined Thom saw the need and simply did what was needed.

- Narg may be dead, but Bela lives!

- I'm watching the cogs of the plot turn. The mayor sent Thom to get Wisdom only seconds before Rand could say that he has already seen Nynaeve. Thom said he watched the Wisdom work with "deft touch and sure skill" and said cogs made a point of pointing out how clean someone's hands were (clean hands are useful tools for cleaning). Connect all the dots and it spells Thom rushing Egwene to the inn and 'incorrectly' identifying her as the Wisdom.

- So Mistress Moiraine clearly worked to defend the village. I couldn't believe my own theory that she handed those coins to sew destruction anyway. And ball lightning! Probably a coincidence though, certainly not the work of magic. :D

- and Master Lan a specialized fighter of some sort, too. This is beginning to remind me of Dungeons and Dragons again.

- New term - Warder and Lan apparently is one, and apparently Moiraine is part of the infamous Aes Sedai.

- and Gleeman Thom clearly guiding al'Vere to the Aes Sadai, allowing him to come to the realization himself.

- And suddenly I regret renouncing my coin theory. Apparently in the stories the Aes Sadai's gifts always have a hook in them.

- So Rand goes to fetch the Moiraine, and blast another of my theories right out of the water. Am I crazy to see Nynaeve and Egwene in the light that I do?

- Oh well, next chapter promises to be interesting.

When I read your posts, I feel like such a simple, simple guy.. I mean, you had several theories from the get-go, where I just read "Ok, so that's Rand and he saw a weird dude on a horse".

I am cursed with an analytical mind. I mean it. The problem with an analytical mind is that you can't turn it off. I can't play rock-paper-scissors without doing a statistical analysis of my opponent in my head. I can't listen to music with lyrics without trying to find the innuendos and second meanings. When someone asks a simple question, like "how are you today?" I cannot just simply answer. No, in that split second between the question and the reply my mind races probing "what answer does he want?", "does he want to know, or is he making conversation?" "are my feelings genuine or topical?" "What should I be feeling?" "What is he feeling?" "Is it the socially responsible thing to mirror his feelings?" "Would that be disingenuous?" "is this a trap?" "If so, what's his motive" "if not, why does he want to know?". Your head is always cluttered with facts that are not relevant to anything, or worse facts that are relevant, but so obscure that that your friends all think you spend every waking moment studying an encyclopedia, but really it's just some footnote of some article you skimmed on the Internet five years ago. AAAAGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH.

...

I'm sorry, I think my head cracked for a moment there. I'm doing fine, how about you?

Oh, excellent, chapter 7! You're only a few short pages away from meeting Hroðgar and visiting Heorot!

Best part of the damn series.

Edit: In all seriousness, the next chapter or so introduces one of the best stories in Fantasy.

No, the Mord Sith and D'hara is clearly the best part. Don't forget the Red Wedding. Perhaps the Cleansing was the best part, though.

He's the trolloc that talked to Rand in EotW and took part in the Red Wedding. Clearly, you forgot one of the most important antagonists!  8)

Narg smart! Narg also Kwisatz Haderach!

Narg whirlwind. Narg many places at once.

All Hail Narg!

ETA: Seriously, what confuses me about this are all these "Mat" references? Who the heck is Mat? Is he that guy that was all grown up in the Battle of Two Rivers, but died in the Whitecloak attack?

Of course, I know who Thom is. Good ol' Dragon and all. But Mat? Who?
