But Nae she is my follower  :-\

Anyways I will go back and read but I could swear you wanted Kiv lynched.

And then there is this

2. If Lavi and I are playing off each other then why did you vote for Kiv?  I agreed with Kiv that Lavi's post contradicted itself.  If I were to vote either of them it would be her.

Why haven't you yet, that seems like as good a reason as any for day one voting.

I'm still more wary of FDM

:-*

I'm suspicious of him and I may have said something to that effect.  But if I wanted to lynch him definetly then I'd have a vote on him.  You know I don't lallygag and hemhaw when I play.

About the Evangelist possibly being a recruiter, how would that work?  I mean you can't have mafia be recruited to the town or that would be overpowered right?

Posted

It's usually resolved by the role having a "percentage" ability of recruitment.  That way you can't recruit mafia but you don't know if the recruit failed the dice roll or if its cause they are mafia.  That's how I've done mine anyways.

I've seen some done where they just were not allowed to divulge that info but imho thats too risky.

I liked the first method even though I was always failing because I tried to pick mafia.  That latter method sounds dumb.  Someone can use information without revealing it, and there's no way to ignore or forget something you know.  So in this case are people talking about the evangelist being like a recruiting mason or something?

Pandy, you may feel the cop and doc are expendable, but I doubt they do. I still think it's a really bad idea, and I'm not mafia. Yeah, yeah, I know. I always say that.  :P

Seriously, the liars would be cop, doc, and mafia. The mafia know who they are, and what lies they told. So there are only two left who will lie. Plus the two that actually have the roles the liars picked. That gives the mafia a one in four chance of killing the finder night one. The town, however, has a much harder time finding the scummy liars, or LLLs.

This is an incredibly stupid idea.

What you are overlooking is that if the cop and doc die, there are that many fewer "liars" for the mafia to hide among.

To put it simply, if they take out the cop and doc, they lose their own cover.

More than just the Cop and Healer would lie imo.

No - if we do this right, the cop and healer would be the only lying townies.  Otherwise, it's pointless.

That's why I'm willing to go with the majority on this, though it's clearly not going to do the right thing.

God, people, think numbers.  21 players.  That means roughly 5 mafia, plus 2 solos (rough guess).  That's 7 scum, 14 townies.  9 liars, 12 telling the truth. Our Masons would be out in the open, confirmed.  Our solos would be more likely to flip to the good side.  Shifts the numbers even more in our favor.

But meh, you don't want it, you don't want it. I won't push any more. Its 2 am, and I need to leave work, anyway.  See you tomorrow.

9 liars means 18 suspects, or so (say each of the 9 liars claims a different, also claimed role).  Handing us 18 suspects out of 21 players would be a very bad idea.

Without so many words, that was exactly my argument to Pandy. There are too many players in this game right now to chance a full reveal. If you life that long, bring it up when we've only got 10 people or so left. THEN it will definitely hold some merit.

Right now my top suspects (as much as anyone can be suspect on Day 1 :P), are Lavinya, Lily, Tigraine, Wombat, and Barm. I'm fairly sure that one or two of them is actually innocent, because I still think some of the mafia are lying low this early in the game. The quiet ones will be the first people I start picking on Day 2. ;)

My God you guys like loooooong posts.

I think Pandy and Kiv are tag teaming.

Pandy agrees with Kiv, but disagrees on his methods slightly enough to make it feel more genuine.

And I don't think Pete and Lily are teaming up either. Sure they both vote for Kiv one after the other, but they're always like that.

Barm has gone from stirring the pot to silence. You making notes Barm?  ;D

Thoughts on mass role reveal.

Normally, with normal roles, i'd say it might work. However there are still a load of very powerful roles out there.

Hypothetical situation : cop gets revealed/reveals himself. Doc doesn't. Doc has to protect Cop. However rather than NKing, role blocker blocks cop, Mafia NK elsewhere, we enter the next day with the most powerful innocent actions having been useless during that night phase.

And thats a real basic situation. The only successful mass reveals i've seen have been in the last two days of games. Admittedly, i don't see them cropping up much, but still, to my mind a mass reveal would be a bad idea.

Kiv, as proposer... ok it's suspicious. However given the nature of the game, he may well just be going for points. Definitely something to remember for the next few days, but not quite enough to flip me over to get rid of him. Admittedly, half of me just wants to see what scheme he comes up with next, but if he is innocent, he could really turn this around.

On a totally different topic, my votes staying on FDM for now. Yeah, she aint screaming "mafia" atm, but a) can't see too much in the way of alternative and b) she's not screaming "innocent" either. Only thing i am considering is switching my vote to a lurker/inactive, if there is any support out there for that idea.

Aaaand that's the end of that stream-of-conciousness post. Sorry for wall of text.

Kivam's last post = backpedaling once he realized:

1.  His idea was bad.

2.  Nobody other than Pandy was going along.

3.  He wouldn't get points.

;D

But it's still scummy to suggest in the first place.....and coming from you, the big number cruncher, even more so.

Hence the headdesk.  Did you notice the time that post was submitted?  I was just leaving work . . . and that's been my schedule for 3 weeks.  I'm not doing math unless I absolutely have to, dammit  >:(

How about the dozen or so posts since you suggested that idea?  All during the day, without the excuse of it being late.  You ask us to "think numbers" when you can't be bothered to do it first yourself?

Yes.  That's all part and parcel of being dead tired - I made a mistake and didn't even think about running the numbers until I, you know, posted that you should think numbers.

Which reminded me to check em myself.

Leading to the headdesk.

BTW, you weren't kidding in the "Hey Verbal" thread, were you?  ;D

That thought crossed my mind too.  Kivam not thinking about the numbers part of his "great plan"?  Don't tell me work is gonna have you slacking this game. :(

It will, through about Feb. 5 (when the second of my 2 briefs is due to be filed)
