[glow=orange,2,300]Police Barred From Penis Enlargement[/glow]

JAKARTA - Forget about getting a job as a police officer in Indonesia's Papua if you have had your penis enlarged. You won't get it, according to local media reports citing the Papua police chief.

An applicant "will be asked whether or not his vital organ has been enlarged," said Papua police chief Bekto Suprapto, quoted on local website Kompas.com.

"If he has, he will be considered unfit to join the police or the military."

The ban was applied since the unnatural size causes "hindrance during training," said police spokesman Zainuri Lubis in Jakarta, quoted by news portal Detik.com

Indonesia's remote easternmost province is home to Papuan tribes, many of whom are known for wearing penis gourds.

A low-level separatist insurgency has waged in the resources-rich part of Indonesia for decades and there is a heavy police and military presence there.

Papuans use a local technique to achieve the enlargement, according to a sexologist quoted by local newspaper Jakarta Globe, wrapping the penis with leaves from the "gatal-gatal" (itchy) tree so that it swells up "like it has been stung by a bee," the expert said.

[glow=orange,2,300]South Korean driver earns license on 960th try[/glow]

SEOUL, South Korea - A South Korean woman who earned a driver's license after 960 tries is ready to buy a car and get behind the wheel.

Yonhap news agency reported Thursday that 69-year-old Cha Sa-soon passed the driving part of the test last month on her 10th try. South Korea requires a written test first, and Cha took it nearly daily since April 2005 before passing last year.

Yonhap quoted her as saying she wanted to buy a small secondhand car to visit her son and daughter and for her business selling vegetables.

[glow=orange,2,300]Questionable Judgments[/glow]

Under Britain's Department of Health guidelines, prisoners about to be released, and who had previously taken drugs but cured their addiction while incarcerated, are being purposely re-addicted by wardens, using methadone. According to researchers, the former addicts will then be less likely to overdose when they get back on the street. Reportedly, more than 460 prisoners have thus been "retoxified" in the last five years.

[glow=orange,2,300]Kung fu grannies ready to fight rapists

[/glow]1 in 5 rape victims in Kenya is over age 60

health-womens_health

NAIROBI, Kenya - A two-finger poke to the eyes, a punch to the solar plexus, a kick to the groin, then turn and run, the instructor barks.

But this is not your typical self-defense class. The trainer is an elderly Kenyan woman who is teaching her peers how to combat a spate of rape attacks targeting elderly women in the slums. One Nairobi hospital treated 437 rape victims older than 60 last year.

In the sludge-covered alleyways of the Korogocho slum, 50 women, many of them grandmothers, have enrolled in twice-a-week self-defense classes at a run-down community center. The women say they must rely on themselves because the police rarely patrol the dark paths that wind through the maze of iron-roofed shanties. When suspected rapists are reported to the police, they often bribe their way to freedom, the women say.

Which illustrates the point that smart dealers don't use....

The 91-year-old widow lived by herself in a tumbledown house on a desolate country road. But she wasn't alone, not really, not as long as she could visit her husband and twin sister. No matter they were already dead. Jean Stevens simply had their embalmed corpses dug up and stored them at her house — in the case of her late husband, for more than a decade — tending to the remains as best she could until police were finally tipped off last month....

Bras For Melons

An organic farmer in the UK had a strange request for her customers. She wanted their old bras, DD support bras, not those frilly nothing there things pictured above. What for? To support her melons...the ones she is growing in the field. Apparently her melons were getting so large they were falling off the vines and getting damaged. Well, as we all know, bras protect melons from falling or getting damaged therefore the strange request.

Woman mistakes super glue for eye drops

A US woman accidentally glued an eye shut when she mistook super glue for her eye drops.

KSAZ-TV says Irmgard Holm of Glendale, Arizona had cataract surgery a year ago. She was reaching for what she thought was one of her half-dozen eye drop medications. The burning sensation told her immediately something was seriously wrong.

Holm says the eye drops and the super glue bottles are nearly identical.

After putting super glue in her eye, Holm says she tried washing it out. But the quick-drying substance did what it was supposed to and sealed her eye shut.

Holm got to the hospital and staff cut off the hardened glue covering her eye. Once the eye was opened, doctors washed it out to prevent major damage, KSAZ-TV reported.

McDonald’s Happy Meal resists decomposition for six months

By Brett Michael Dykes

http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_upshot/20101012/bs_yblog_upshot/mcdonalds-happy-meal-resists-decomposition-for-six-months

Vladimir Lenin, King Tut and the McDonald's Happy Meal: What do they all have in common? A shocking resistance to Mother Nature's cycle of decomposition and biodegradability, apparently.

That's the disturbing point brought home by the latest project of New York City-based artist and photographer Sally Davies, who bought a McDonald's Happy Meal back in April and left it out in her kitchen to see how well it would hold up over time.

The results? "The only change that I can see is that it has become hard as a rock," Davies told the U.K. Daily Mail.

She proceeded to photograph the Happy Meal each week and posted the pictures to Flickr to record the results of her experiment. Now, just over six months later, the Happy Meal has yet to even grow mold. She told the Daily Mail that "the food is plastic to the touch and has an acrylic sheen to it."

What is the difference between Amelia Earhart and a turtle? Some scientists are currently examining a set of bones found in the South Pacific to see if they belong to Amelia Earhart

Apparently, a partial human skeleton was found in 1940 on a deserted island in the South Pacific. The bones were tested and determined to be of a European-descended male, and thus not Earhart (though it did not consider that the bones might have belonged to her flight companion Fred Noonan)

Alas, these bones were lost.

There is anthropological evidence that some 'castaways' lived on this deserted island and that the castaways were Earhart and Noonan.

More bones were found earlier this year that resemble human cervical bones, though they might be turtle bones.

http://www.usatoday.com/tech/science/discoveries/2010-12-17-search-for-amelia-earhart_N.htm?

Is it weird that the Brown Ajah in me prefers the mysterious disappearance over the discovery of bones and kinda hopes it is turtle bones?
