Create-a-Role Mafia Game Thread: Game Over!

So I've heard of these games on mafiascum where the Mod deceives the players and nobody really knows where they stand. Is that what was going on, Pandy? And if so, will you lay out the actual player/role list?

Well, great game everyone and great job with the Mod.  Danya, kudos to you playing both sides and kudos to DPR for a well planned mafia gambit.  However, there is more to this competition than meets the eye...

 

...Danya & Talya, my Twisted Sisters....I have a confession.  I was not the Shady Vigilante.  I was the Psycho Killer!!  On Odd Numbered days, I was a gentle towine, but on Even Numbered days, I was a solo-win psycho killing bastard.  The reason why I claimed that my Vigilante Kill was only 50% effective was because I only could use it on Even days.  I could either win with the town on an Odd numbered day, win with the Triplets when we had more of us than everyone else, OR win SOLO if it was an even day and just me and another player left. 

 

You may be wondering why I backed off near the end.  I was trying to get folks to vote Danya, which would have broken our Twisted Triplet connection and allowed me to then whack Talya.  Since DJ had already written me off as innocent, likely because he viewed me on an Odd numbered day, then I would cruise to the end......but then I decided...screw it, let's win with the triplets. 

 

Great game!! Can't wait for the sequel!!

 

Oh and Siryan, you should give a mafia game at MyndJack a try sometime..... ::)  You are really missing out on this Heroes game we got going on....*whistles*

These were the roles that I got from people (going by memory somewhat):

 

Mynd: Corrupter role; the corrupter may target another player. If they target another person in the night, the person they target dies.

 

Liathiana: Twisted Triplet (Mafia, SK, therapist)

 

I don't know why Lia didn't reveal it when she was still alive. It stands to reason: if you submit a third party role, you don't get it, then obviously it's in your best interests to tell everyone about it.

 

 

DJ: Controller role - each day, submit messages to the mod that a player of his choice must post.

 

DPR: Silencer

 

Hybrid: Jeckyll & Hyde. SK on odd days. Vanilla townie on even days.

 

Moggy: Roleblocking Rainbow Miller

 

(The 'rainbow' was going to be a post restriction; they would have to post in lots of different colours.)

 

 

Dae: Selective Lover

 

As I remember, this role was supposed to be able to become a lover with a different person each night.

 

 

Thorum - can give an extra vote to another person every day

 

Barm - steal a vote and secretly put it somewhere else (Wes used this to great effect)

 

Verbal - Linker

 

As I remember, this role was to link two or four people each night, so that what happened to one, happened to another.

 

 

Danya - Janitor

 

This role was to remove coroner reports from a death.

 

 

Talya - Mad Detective

 

The Mad Detective was to be an ordinary cop but with the post restriction that he must call everybody scum. I changed this to not being able to name anybody town, for playability's sake.

 

 

 

The things I changed, and why:

 

Moggy's role: I changed the miller to super miller, to get back at Barmy. However, this backfired on me; Barmy took it like a man and even guiltripped me by not only revealing how Lia called him a 'lying liar who lies' but by replacing in for Thorum. Sorry Barmy.  :(

 

The Twisted Triplet: So that there weren't two SKs in the game, I put Hybrid's Jeckyll & Hyde into Lia's twisted triplet. Also, I made it un-nightkillable; in hindsight I shouldn't have done this, as then Danya might have had to play a bit more of a proactive role in the nightkills on both sides. I also changed it to mafia, sk, townie instead of mafia, sk, therapist.

 

 

Dae and Verbal's roles I combined into the Matchmaker role; this could either become a lover with someone else for the night, or make two other people lovers. I didn't want both Dae's and Verbal's roles in the game because that would've made it too swingy.

 

 

Danya's Janitor role and DJ's controller role I bundled up into one and gave them to a symp. They seemed sympish to me.

 

 

Here's the setup:

 

1 Mafia Corrupter (in Twisted Triplet) Danya

1 Mafia Vote Stealer, Silencer and Bulletproof Scum (DPR)

1 Janitor Controller (mafia symp) Hybrid

 

1 Jeckyll & Hyde (in Twisted Triplet) (Mynd)

 

 

2 Healing Masons (Dae, Thorum/Barm)

1 Roleblocking Rainbow Super Miller (Barm)

1 Mad Detective (DJ)

1 Nearly Vanilla Townie (Verbal)

1 Nearly Vanilla Townie (in Twisted Triplet) Talya

1 Matchmaker (Moggy)

1 Vote-Giver (Lia)

 

 

So, 2 scum, 1 symp, 1 sk, 8 townies including miller.

 

Roles I created: healing masons. Verbal's nearly vanilla townie was a backup cop. Talya's nearly vanilla townie was in the twisted triplet and so was also bulletproof, a mason of sorts and had an alternate win condition.

Ahhhh, I see it now.  Well, in no particular order -

 

I never thought Talya was anything other than innocent, and definitely not part of a team.

I never thought Danya was part of another team.

Let's be honest, I never got anywhere close to thinking that there was another evil team. heh

Mynd, the way you handled your role was awesome - and keeping the triplets seperate from Moggy, all seperate from your true role was art. Excellent work.

 

Pandy, I love the way you mod. I already mentioned this in a PM, but the timeclock and the QT threads are sweet additions to the games.

* I called DPR as evil at an early stage. I originally thought he was the serial killer which, whoops, apparently was a figment of the mod's imagination, but he couldn't have been any more obviously evil to me if his every post had been heralded by Satan in person.

 

Oh yeah, this is the kind of post that winds up getting me lynched on day one for no good reason. Satan. Really.  Just because I had a Darth Vader chamber installed in my home to play mafia games from does not make me a bad person...I just choose to embrace the roles, that's all. 8)

I should have stuck with my decision that Wes was Mafia...lol. As far as I was concerned I was innocent and would have won with the town if any of the three of us got killed.

I didn't think Danya was mafia though.

 

No wonder you too thought I had another role (to Danya and Mynd) you both lied, I was the only one telling the truth. But we won!

 

And it was a good game everyone. And Barm you just came across as so mafiaish...lol.

 

SO I was right about Wes stealing a vote to place it on Barm in the beginning. I'm pleased about that bit anyway!

hhhaaaa I loved this game, the only problem I had was trying to decide who to win with. I chose Wes, but we werent able to kill Talya so I won with the Triplets instead. hahaha

Ok. Here is my viewings.

The reason I made that summary before to get eyes fixed on WES and Danya was really more of a gut feeling than anything.

I was really certain Mynd was the solo winner, but I was more concerned about the mafia at the time, so I let him off for a while.

Talya I was so certain was innocent that I let her off too.

The other reason I wrote my suspition list the way I did, was because I did not want to admitt I had viewed Dae. I figured if the mafia knew that, they would feel safer.

 

If people had listened to me on the Danya lync, we would have won though....  :D

DPR, you and Danya played well also!  I was trying to come up with a way to get Danya or Talya lynched, but it had to be late in the game to ensure that there minimal number of mafia to contend with.  Talya, you were suspicious because I never figured that there would be vanilla townies in a game where everyone has a role. 

 

In fact, everyone played well IMO.  This was a lot of fun.  I hope we do this again soon.

Oh, yes. An interesting example of cognitive dissonance from the game:

 

on night one, Hybrid the Symp chose to control Mynd the next day. Fortunately, Wes silenced him so that Hybrid's action was meaningless.  ;)

 

 

Moggy, DJ was innocent. You did OK there, apart from choosing the one who was silenced, again.  :P

The role I submitted was interpreted differently between Pandy and myself. I had made it so the stolen vote would appear on the vote count as the person whom it was stolen from, even if they voted elsewhere, which would make it so people could figure out that the role was there and be able to deal with it, Pandy interpreted it as to be all behind the scenes though, hence why I didn't speak up about it before I died as the miller, I thought it was different from how it actually was.

 

I was absolutely right about the extra vote though, and didn't lie about it at all.

Oh, yes. I read the role that Barmy submitted wrongly. It added confusion to the game and was a help to Wes, I think.

Good game.  I was unable to post much when DJ found me because of school but there wasn't much I could do anyways I guess.

Wow - great game cosmicpanda.  Dammit, I wish I didn't die so early.  I was actually hoping DJ would get killed so I could inherit the cop role.  :-[
