Olver = Gaidal Cain reborn?

I was thinking about this the last books. Can it be possible that Olver is Gaidal Cain? Ok, the age dont fit, but on the other hand Lanfear is reborned as Cyndane, a grown woman.

Tel'aran'rhiod time and the real time are not the same, and maby the happenings did cast Gaidal Cain in to the world 6-9 years earlier than it should do?

A crazy thought...but im realy want to know why Olver is in the story, and i think he will be a greath soldier when he grows up, learning from the best.

No, Olver is not Cain. Use the Seacrh function to find other threads explaining why. Key point though, time does not move backwards in T'A'R.

And lanfear was not "reborn" as Cyndane, Lanfears soul was placed in a new body, just like Balthamel, Aginor and ishamael. There is quite a difference.

It would have been totally plausible for Olver to be Gaidal Cain if Nynaeve had not met Gaidal Cain in Tel'aran'rhoid when she was speaking to Birgitte. At this point we had already been introduced to Olver so he couldn't be GC reborn!!

I did have a theory for a while that Gaidal Cain had already been reborn as Olver and he wasn't actually there in T'A'R. He was just there because Birgitte had made an image of him appear because she missed him, as I think would be possible as you can make anythin appear in T'A'R if you wish it there. The main reason i had this theory is because Nynaeve comments that whenever she saw GC in T'A'R he never even acknowledged her, it was as if she wasn't there!! So I started to think maybe it was GC who wasn't really there so he wouldn't react to anythin around him unless Birgitte thought of him doing it. Forgive me if i'm wrong but I don't think we see GC actually having a conversation with Birgitte or interacting with him?

What are poeples views on this??

That is an interesting thought, metallicafan. But doesn't the way Birgitte handles things when he's gone disprove that? I don't have the books with me right now, but I know she mentions that he's gone. I don't think she'd be doing that if he was gone a while ago and she just made up a fake Gaidal to keep her company.

Yea I know it's just the bit about Gaidal ignoring Nynaeve that got me thinking, I don't think Olver is Gaidal Cain reborn but RJ seems to drop in these little things and make you think!! We know Gaidal Cain was an ugly mofo and it's always commented that Olver is an ugly little bugger and we know Birgitte took a shine to him. All this stuff points to GC and Olver being connected but theres plenty of evidence against it too.

Personally, I can't see too much connection between Olver and Gaidal Cain, since there is such a thing as people having ugly children with sticky-out ears and freckles, without them automatically being reborn heroes of legend and fable... and it stands to reason that a woman with a fetish for her men on the um, 'rugged' side of the spectrum, might think that such a kid, who is primarily raised by soldiers and adopted Aiel aunties, tavern maids, courtiers, Seachean nobility et al, has a roguish charm of his own...

Then again, if such a person was in fact one of these souls reborn, and such a soul could access Tel'aran'rhiod unconsciously - say in the manner of a dreamwalker (and with the skill honed through eons waiting there, but subconcsiously, with no memory of their time there - there might be the opportunity for Olver to be a reborn Gaidal Cain... but wouldn't that be "jumping the shark" a bit, and completely out of character for the Wheel of Time?

Here could be a possible way for Olver to be Gaidal:

Gaidal reborn on another world.  That world having a time rate that is faster.

Somehow a channeler bringing the child to Randland at the proper time.

Though if Olver was Gaidal, I think there would have been some recognition from at least Birgitte some time during their times together.

I disclosed the truth about this in another thread just today.

Elayne is having twins.

One boy.

One girl.

The boy is Gaidal reborn.

Ugly baby.

Birgitte will cherish him.

She'll teach him everything as he grows.

He'll be to his sister as Gawyn was to Elayne.

When he's old enough, Birgitte will make him a man.

She'll only be like 40 or something, right?

The Nanny will become the mistress to the First Prince.

It all makes perfect Gwampy sense, right?

;)

I once thought that Olver just appeared as he was in Carihien.  He had never been born, had no parents, no real past.  But when the Wheel spat him out into the world of the living in his new form it gave him all the memories of his earlier life.

Then RJ said he is not GC.  So I dropped the theory.

Are you referring to this thread?

Like I replied to the post, Gaidal reborn cannot not be either of Elayne's babies since they are younger than Birgitte both in the sense of when coming out and in the sense of physical development.

If Elayne's babies are anyone reborn, it would more likely be Shivan and Calian than Gaidal Cain.
