Aviendha's hate for Rand

Ok, I have the next potential darkfriend:

The Dragon Reborn

:o :o :o :o :o :o

Ishy told him that there had been times in other turnings of the Wheel that the dragon had chosen to side with the Dark One, and this game isn't over yet.  Maybe "A Memory Of Light" infers that the shadow will win and that there will be nothing left of the Light but strange, faint memories that fade with time until the age returns in a later turning of the Wheel?  In the game with the Fisher (Rand was the Fisher being manipulated by the Dark One and the Creator) could it be considered a "game" if the deck was stacked so the Light always won and the Shadow never did?  In our present day turning of the wheel, who is in control...the Light or the Shadow?  ::)  ???

Now that would be a good twist.

Yeah, but those would be the times that the war came out to a draw rather than a Light win.  The Dark One has never won, or the world would be over as we all know it.  It would be really interesting though if that's what RJ did at the end of this series... how do you think that would play out?

In the dark area between here and TR, Egwene saw other possible realities where the shadow had indeed taken over.  Remember that the Wheel is in constant motion.  Each spoke represents a different Age.  And each revolution of the Wheel leaves a different "tire track" on the Pattern.  Imagine a covered wagon traveling from St. Louis, Missouri to the Pacific Ocean...how many revolutions would those wheels make in that relatively short distance compared to all of eternity?  And, did it ever leave the same exact tracks on ANY of those revolutions?  Unlikely.  As the Wheel of Time passed through eternity, sometimes the Light won an Age and sometimes the Shadow won an Age.  Each time, the Dragon was the Fisher in the game for that Age.  As soon as the Wheel willed that it was time for a new Age, a different Dragon was reborn and was manipulated for the enjoyment of the Dark One and the Creator for that particular Age. I never have understood how Ishy claims to remember so many of the previous Ages in the prologue of EoTW just before LTT creates DM...how is it fair that he can remember and that LTT can't?  Sounds like a huge advantage for the Shadow and the Creator should be calling for a foul!  :o

Hmmm...maybe just me but I don't think Ishy remembers so much as knows. I think the DO or someone knows all these things and taught it to him; I doubt it's actually his memory.

On a side note, I love how all this developed from a Rand/Aviendha thread :P

It's dragonmount. What do you expect?  ;)

I was under the assumption that Ishy was mad and lying when he spoke those words. It makes no sense that the Dragon ever went over. That would likely cause the release of the DO and the consequent destruction of the universe.

Well I had wondered that myself, if the Dragon had really gone to the DO then the DO would of remade everything, thus destroying the wheel.
Only if they broke him out. There are degrees of victory.

Bear in mind that Ishamael is a lying liar who lies.

We work hard at it.

Neither. The Illuminati. The Light, of course, not the Illuminati, that would just be ridiculous.
Mr Ares, a well-known Dragonmount poster, was yesterday found dead in his house, cause of death being a bullet wound in his stomach. Mr Ares had apparently died slowly, as he had time to write "The Illuminati did it" in his own blood on the wall. There was a strikethrough over his words, and below were the words, "Of course the Illuminati was not responsible for this random act of violence." In smaller letters were the words "« Last Edit: September 20, 2008, 03:45:01 PM by the Illuminati »."
The above story is completely false and should be disregarded. The Illuminati are not and have never been responsible for random acts of violence or censorship.

Needless to say, I survived. The exact story of how I faked my death to avoid notice, went undercover and wiped out the Illuminati in one night is a long and implausible one, and I shall not tell it here. It's hard to see how they were fooled though. After all, I'm hardly likely to be stopped by a single gunshot wound, am I? Anyway, now no-one needs to be worried about the Illuminati ruling the world. Not that they ever did.

True but if the Dragon went to the DO, why wouldn't they break him free?  Since without the Dragon the light has no hope of winning.

Thank God.  Another threat has been averted.  Still, one has to wonder at the stories that the Illuminati survived...

Said stories are of course little more than rumor and contain no factual basis.

My next book: The Revenge of the Illuminati and the Fall of the Star Signs

Nonsense.  The Illuminati do not seek revenge whatsoever.  The Illuminati are a pure order dedicated to all things good.

The Dragon never went over to the Shadow. Ishamael lied. We have RJ's confirmation on that.

In the dark area between here and TR, Egwene saw other possible realities where the shadow had indeed taken over.

She glimpsed the dreams of people so alien and confusing that she couldn't hope to understand them, and avoided them because they were so disturbing, but she never catches sight of anything that suggested the shadow had taken over.

Not that that is not impossible... though one would ask why they hadn't freed the Dark One. Free him in one world and he's free in all.
