We are now one step away from the Grand Final, and everything is to play for. Here, in the first semi-final, The Beatles, the Champions of Pop, who have seen off Ray Charles and Led Zeppelin, take on Aretha Franklin, the Champion of Soul, who has seen off The Chemical Brothers and Metallica, for that all important place in the Final.

And to help you out, here is some info on each Artist:

The Champions of POP... THE BEATLES

The Beatles were a pop and rock group from Liverpool, England. The band are recognized for leading the mid-1960s musical "British Invasion" into the United States. Although their initial musical style was rooted in 1950s rock and roll and homegrown skiffle, the group explored genres ranging from Tin Pan Alley to psychedelic rock. The Beatles are one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed bands in the history of popular music. In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine ranked The Beatles #1 on its list of 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.

The category of "Pop music" is a bit misleading, as Pop stands for popular music. When looking into this category, you will find artists that are tagged as pop....simply because they do not fit into any one category. We went with the Beatles because, simpley put, they are among successfulsuccesful groups of all time.

The Champion of SOUL...ARETHA FRANKLIN

If one looks up Soul Music in the dictionary one will find The Queen of Souls' picture... Aretha re-defined Soul in he mid sixties after signing with Atlantic Records and her very first single there, "I Never Loved A Man" was the start of a long line of number one singles. From a whispered delivery (that gives shivers to any red blooded man) to passionate primal howls this song exemplifies her style and like nearly any song she sings is hers to the bone....

The recipient of countless awards, honorary degrees from Universities and the Berklee College of Music, various honors and firsts she has even stood in for Luciano Pavarotti at the 1998 Grammy Awards to sing "Nessun Dorma" with less than 24 hours to prepare when he was to ill to appear... and in His Key! She is a truly remarkable and influential artist and The Jewel In The Crown of Soul.

There you go - the two champions of Pop and Soul. All you now need to do is pick who you want to win (please highlight in some way or another) and go through to the Grand Final! You have until Monday 25th August 2008 to make your choice!
