  1. I just got my copy through the post (thanks Amazon for being excellent and prompt). I'm supposed to be job hunting but it's so tempting to crack it open and start reading.
  2. It's the second book of the Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss. The first book is called The Name of the Wind: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Name-Wind-Kingkiller-Chronicle/dp/0575081406/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1298900674&sr=8-1 I have pre-ordered my copy of Wise Man's Fear. Can't wait to get my hands on it, currently rereading Name of the Wind in preparation.
  3. Comedian Bill Hicks saw all this coming back in the 90s. To quote him: "I was sitting in the Waffle House reading a book when the trucker behind me turns around and says 'Well, well, looks like we got ourselves a reader!' And the waitress comes up and says 'What you readin' for?' To which I say, 'Ah gee, maybe so I don't end up as a Waffle House waitress.' " I can't do the e-Readers. I need the solid form of an actual book to read, I don't have to charge them up to read them and then there's the smell.
  4. I've been told to watch 'Idiocracy'. Though I'm slightly afraid too because after reading the blurb about it, I'm afraid I will lose all faith in humanity. Rasheta, people who are snobby and walk around with their noses in the air, we Brits refer to them as toffee-nosed twats. I have found it to be a handy phrase.
  5. You've used the phrase Tai'shar [insert country name here] in conversation with someone. I've done that before (got some funny looks and replies) and both of water seeker's suggestions.
  6. That's why I like the Blue Closet®, Jhae loaded it with toys. ;D ;)
  7. There's always The Closet® in the Blue quarters. ;D ;)
  8. Indeed you are. ;) ;D Linking up with Lily, Ellie forms the appropriate weaves and gently lays them on Sam's head. :)
  9. Naughty boy, I'll deal with you later. ;) ;D Enjoying the feel of the bond from both Lily and Sam, Ellie smiles at both and readies herself to link with Lily to renew the bond.
  10. Aw Lily you made me blush! :D I have never minded sharing, it's makes it all the more fun, to have those you love around. :-* *takes Sam's hand and prepares to renew the bond*
  11. I think you both, Sam and Lily, have shown what true friendship is, whether it's online or in RL. Sam was the very first person here that I felt a special connection with. When Lily came along, it just got better. :) You both know that I've been going through some deep personal issues lately and it's so good to know that you were both there to lend an ear when I needed it. That meant so much to me and I think it does to all of us to know that. Though I think you both summed it up better than I could. :D I also love you both! *kisses both Lily and Sam on the cheek*
  12. Eyes the cheese and chocolate sauce askance, wondering what Sam has in mind when she is distracted by his proposal to renew the bond. Of course I will! I can't think of anything better than for the three of us to renew our bonds. :)
  13. As a familiar, yet oh so naughty feeling enters the bond, Ellie drops what she is doing and goes to investigate. Down the stairs she makes her way, following the bond sense. Getting close now, Ellie comes upon a picnic basket, blanket and the ever-present PG-13 sign. Just what are you up to or should I not ask? ;) ;D
  14. Stop stealing my fanfic ideas! Brandon knows. We talked about it this weekend at Minicon. And I know Jason has talked to him too. He's got to complete his revisions on THE WAY OF KINGS by tomorrow, but if he has time, he'll try to post something. Finishing revisions is kinda big news. Nice one Brandon. I'm pretty excited about the new series. Me too, I've just ordered the paperback of Warbreaker, which has the prologue to Way of Kings in the back.
  15. Was after something new, so started Ian Irvine's The Well of Echoes series. Currently working my way through Geomancer, so far, so good. :)
  16. Love the Xerox comment, I'll have to remember that. :D Most people's biggest gripe is not that Goodkind borrows, they all do that, but that he borrows and then doesn't give any credit. I don't like Goodkind because he includes a lot of needless violence among other things. RJ put in violence too, but there was usually a purpose to it. I made myself read the whole series (don't know why) and had a big 'wtf' right at the end. The only original thing in it was the 'chicken that is not a chicken' and that was a 'wtf' moment too.
  17. Yes, we have lots of spiders in the dungeons. Better to be in the dungeon as an SG member than in one of the cells. Where else but Shayol Ghul do you get to carry off other DM members and lock them in the dungeon. 8)
  18. Some of those masons were actually soldiers meant to help with overthrowing Siuan. Danelle knew what it was and I believe helped organise it. I don't think we've seen Danelle since TSR.
