While playing around with iTunes and my iPod, I've somehow managed to erase all the music off my iPod. So, I am now putting it all back on. Oh fun. What a muppet I am.

It's going to be so much fun adding 2-3000 songs back onto my iPod again...

I am having a problem with my Mp3 player.  It still has ll it's music.  but when I got the new PC I transferred all the music from the old PC and it had to be wiped.  Well get this...I can't get it to delete(Mp3 uses WMP).  It keeps showing back up.  Not to mention that when I try to wipe it then load the music from the player, about 200 songs can't be loaded.  So if my Mp3 player blanks I have to rerip about 400 CD's.  :o

Windows Media Player gives me lots of trouble with its Library function, re-copying deleted files, renaming files I've updated, resetting ID3 tag information, etc.

The only thing I can do is open WMP and switch to the Library tab, and remove all of the albums from the WMP Library.

1. Open Library Tab -> Library tree on the left -> Album.

2. Ctrl+A to select everything, then Delete.

This removes the albums from WMP's Library database so it quits messing around with things, but it doesn't delete the actual files off your hard disk.

I deleted them from WMP, the hard disk, and even found some attached to Realplayer.  I even reverted WMP back a version and deleted the files there.  That finally got rid of them, but they still won't come off the player to WMP.  My best guess is that the original RIP was from a burnt disc...not the original discs.

Why on earth are you using Windows Media Player? Generally speaking anything with Microsoft or Windows attached to it is evil and likely to cause you trouble. Use Winamp, it's free and it's never ever let me down, even when I'm ripping and you can ask it to rip straight to mp3.

I've not had the best success ripping with Winamp.

However, I did discover recently that my Nero Ultra 7 software comes with a customizable, streamlined, and diligent ripping program. It's been able to rip tracks that have given me nothing but read errors on every other program I've tried. I can set it to read at a very slow speed, and when it gets to a trouble spot on a CD, it reads the same spot over and over and over again until it gets the data off (or gives up after like 10 minutes of trying *laugh*).

Give up and get an iPod you won't have all those issues. iTunes is free even for misguided Windows users. And none of those weak iPods are to expensive howls either. Used ones are numerous on ebay and the four I have bought work perfectly, even the 2g one I bought several years ago

Corki.. don't you still have your songs on iTunes? It should be a simple thing to update the iPod. Unless you've deleted the play lists. Which may be why your iPod got wiped .. gimme a holler on msn or something.

corki uploads stuff onto itunes...then deletes it as it slows his computer down. (once again your computer is an issue my lovely...) if it was deleting off itunes it wouldnt especially matter anyway as the files should still be in the recycle bin...or at least they are on my comp. i find it fairly funny to be honest as corki is always saying about backing things up but then never does... :P :P at least he doesnt buy stuff off itunes then delete it from itunes once its on his ipod as then he really would have been stuffed ;)

Well the player I got is WMP supported so it is supposed to work best with that.  Plus WMP allows me to rip as Mp3 or Wma.  I think part of the problem is that I was upgraded to 11 which I think is the Vista supported one.  It is supposed to be 11 for XP, but it is still the Vista version(Evilevilevil).

I'll have to look into that. Fortunately that was the first real problem I have had....and I don't wonder if part of that was because I used a PC relocater software to transfer stuff to the neww PC.

Actually, muppets don't tend to work with strings like puppets.

Muppets are the ones where you stick your hand up... err... well, it could be a bit messier and more problematic. ;D
